The song heavily samples My Favorite Things and all it’s all very open and legal - Rodgers & Hammerstein are listed as official co writers etc. The difference here is some ppl are saying the songmakers copied a current artist without giving credit.
(When you say ripoff it kind of sounds like you thought they weren’t giving credit to original My Favorite Things creators at all. Or maybe heavy song sampling just is a ripoff to you and that’s what you meant. Sorry if I assumed wrong either way. )
But as the leading pop star of the moment, she must be under pressure to also release something that will chart well and continue her run. She’s at that rare, very special diva moment where if she wants to and is ambitious enough, she could really have a big influence on the sound of pop for a few years
Ariana Grande
ReplyDeletePrincess Nokia
ReplyDeleteYeah she needs to hire her old writers back or something, her new stuff doesn't have the same magic.
ReplyDeleteAren't most of the new songs are a ripoff of some old popular song???
ReplyDeleteThe flow of the chorus is really REALLY similar to the hook in Princess Nokia - Mine
ReplyDeleteAnd she will get away with it. I hope Princess Nokia puts up a fight!
ReplyDeleteIt’s like 10 people that write songs for these singers so they all start sounding alike.
ReplyDeleteToday's "music" is awful.
ReplyDeleteThe absolute worst. I can’t think of any song within the past five years that wasn’t awful. No I’m not that old lol.

ReplyDeleteWell you can tell which songs they really phoned it in on then.
ReplyDeletecan't believe i'm the only person who thinks that the ripoff grande made is from My Favorite Things, by Julie Andrews

+1 Unknown, she literally says "my favorite things" in the first 30 seconds of the song.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the "Old MacDonald had a farm" remix, so hip
ReplyDeleteAriana/ Princess Nokia / My Favorite Things
ReplyDelete>Today's "music" is awful.
ReplyDeleteAnd always was, just the good stuff from the past is left.
Phantom of the Opera is the same as School Days
ReplyDeleteAnd did you also realize that Twinkle Twinkle is the exact same song as the ABCs.
ReplyDeleteCan she just go away for awhile?
ReplyDeleteAriana Grande- 7 Rings
ReplyDeletePrincess Nokia- Mine
Don’t even care cause 7 rings is dope AF.
You'd have to be on dope not to be bored as sh!t by it. She's got a great voice but that 7 rings song is sh!t. Buy better songs Ariana.

Deletelol look what nokia just posted on her insta
ReplyDeleteLol!! “Sounds about White.”
DeleteI like the part where she says she writes her checks like she writes her songs
ReplyDeleteIf you really want to see how horrible a video is watch it with the sound off first lol..most of them look absolutely ridiculous
ReplyDeleteAs if God is a Woman wasn't horrible enough. Seriously, why does Arianna Grande still has a career? Shes no midget beauty either.
