Blind Item #14 - Kindness

This actor has been acting for well over three decades and he came to it in his 30's. Usually a character actor he did land a pretty big supporting role in the first couple installments of what is a huge superhero franchise. He was shopping in LA and saw a stroller that got away from a mom rolling down the street. It was just like in a movie where it was speeding down a hill and headed for a car and our actor managed to catch up with it and save the baby.

    1. He was more of a leading man. Not that well known as a character actir(Harrison Ford)

  3. JK Simmons is an even better fit. Good one, Sandy.

    1. Or maybe not. Guardians of the galaxy wasn’t a superhero movie/franchise per se.

  7. Jon Favreau? But as a fellow larger American, I have trouble seeing him rundown a stroller.

  8. I would love to see Danny Devito chasing a stroller down a hill!

  11. "has been acting for well over three decades and he came to it in his 30's" sounds like someone who started in their 30's and is now in their 60's or 70's.

  12. Was DeVito in the first couple installments of a huge superhero franchise?

    ReplyDelete
  13. @Brayson... didnt DeVito play the Joker in one of the Batman movies? Would that be a franchise?

    1. He played The Penguin (might have been only 1 film though)

  14. @HkyMom: Penguin in the second one.

  15. Michael Caine was in The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.

  16. Yes I thought DeVito was one and done for Batman.

  17. Whomever this 60 something year old man is I applaud him. The thought of Danny Devito chasing a stroller down a hill to save a baby had me spitting my red wine and diet coke out. That visual is hilarious.

  18. J.K. Simmons is the best fit, started in his 30's in the 80's, was in the first three Spider-Man installments, and still seems spry enough to outrun a stroller.

  19. Totally agree with JK Simmons guess but I'm surprised A list or Oscar winner wasn't mentioned. However I've seen him, Samuel L Jackson and Harrison Ford at the Grove in the last year.

  20. Clark Gregg, +1 Sean.

  21. Clark Gregg is another good one except he was doing movies and tv in his 20's.

  22. @:|raven|:.
Michael Caine was an actor from when he left the army at 20. He was part of the Swinging London scene in the early sixties and shared a flat with Terance Stamp - but not in that way, far from it. The flat was famous for the debauchery that went on in it. If Enty could get his hands on even half the stories of those two fucking their way through the young womanhood of the King's Road Chelsea in the sixties then this website might run for another few decades.

  25. Michael Keaton

  26. Ned Beatty -- character actor, big supporting role in the original Superman and Superman 2, acting for well over 3 decades

  27. I like the JK Simmons answer - also, it's his birthday and mine today!

    ReplyDelete
  28. i liked michael douglas for this until i saw he started acting in his early 20's. and he's not a character actor.

    j.k. simmons, great guess.

  29. JK Simmons also played Commissioner Jim Gordon in Justice League, btw

    ReplyDelete
  30. Gene Hackman? Superman was the franchise.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I adore JK Simmons! He is in the upcoming The Batman movie as well.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Happy Birthday Robyn! :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. No, Gene Hackman wasn't exactly a character actor. Ned Beatty is a much better guess, gauloise.

  34. Thank you to whomever it was that ran after the stroller, I know the mother was flabbergasted and overcome with pure joy he stopped that stroller

  35. This guess may not fit, but I'm enjoying the mental image in my head of imagining this is Sir Patrick Stewart.

    ReplyDelete
  36. @unknown. Yep that was my guess too. It sounds so much like him except for the superhero franchise.

    ReplyDelete
  37. J.K. Simmons is in good shape in Counterpart. I can see him doing this Michael Caine..plenty of creeper stories about him on here yuck

    ReplyDelete
  38. Dammit Gemma you beat me to it! I immediately thought of him and his first credit was at age 31.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Michael Rooker. He got his start with Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer at 31, and it's one of those films you can't forget. The lack of details about the superhero franchise is because the two Guardians of the Galaxy "volumes" are directed by James Gunn. Rooker has actually starred in all four of his movies, and Enty doesn't want people to notice that the blind clashes with everything he's been tipped about regarding Gunn and his friends from another source.

  40. I am going with Clark Gregg also. He was the first actor I thought of.

  41. Anonymous5:55 PM

    Peter Dinklage :p

    ReplyDelete
  42. @angela. But I wouldn’t call GotG a *superhero* franchise. Although everything else sounds like Rooker. And I think he’d do something like this. As an aside, James Gunn has done more than 4 movies.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think I like the Michael Rooker guess for this better than the JK Simmons guess, but glad the actor hustled it to save the little one!

  47. I love the idea of Danny DeVito rolling down the hill. But honestly, it might be any or none of these guesses. I’m just glad it happened!

@Brayson, not to get too personal, but is Robyn the person with whom you spent NYE’s ? Sorry to ask, but after all it is a gossip site 😉. Sounds like you’re very happy & content. Congratulations!

    Must just be me then.

  52. Depeche Model, I heard Juicy Joe talking about drinking it on the NJ Housewives years ago. Yesterday I had a glass of diet coke poured and my husband brought me a glass of Pinot Noir. So I drank half the glass of wine and topped it off with the diet coke. I loved it! Will definitely have it again.

  55. @lydiajosepg. Who pulled 3 people from a burning car??

  56. Guardians is a franchise, guys. Come on- it's part of the MCU.

JK Simmons is an Oscar winning actor, that's a whole lot more than just a "character actor".

    It's Rooker.

  58. @lisa. But would you say GotG is about superheroes? That’s my question. Not whether it was a franchise.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Gary Oldman.

Born in 58, breakout role Sid and Nancy in 86. Commissioner Gordon in Batman Begins franchise. Iconic character actor.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Also you can be an Oscar winning character actor. Supporting actor category.

    ReplyDelete
  61. @Notagoodscreenname

GotG is Marvel, and Enty tends to put everything Marvel under the "superheroes" umbrella.
James Gunn has written a few scripts, but he has only directed four films – Slither, Super (which was literally a film about superheroes, by the way), GotG, and GotG vol. 2. The Dawn of the Dead remake was Zack Snyder and the two Scooby-Doos were Raja Gosnell.

  62. I LOOOOOOOVE the Clark Gregg guess. Seems like a very nice man who would absolutely do such a thing.

JK Simmons is also a fantastic guess. I've heard nothing but great things about him as a person.

  63. The thought of Danny DeVito chasing a buggy down a hill and rescuing a baby is heroically hysterical! LofreakinL!

  64. Ned Beatty

Was one of Lex Luthor's goons for Superman I & II
