In order to keep his deal hosting that end of the year special, this frequent host/mogul had to agree to a commitment of several million dollars of fake calls that he uses for various segments that the parent company of the show he hosts at the end of the year, owns. Those fake calls are generally the ones where there are jilted lovers or fake adultery or anything else that is well outside the norm of what you expect from morning shows.
Seacrest?
ReplyDeleteIs Andy Cohen a mogul though?
ReplyDeleteSeacrest does the Dick Clark NYE show too
ReplyDeleteI think its Andy but they both fit.
ReplyDeleteAnd both do morning shows, Andy is on Today a lot and was on the other crapfest with Kelly too.
ReplyDeleteSeacrest radio stuff- a lot of the bits are staged/use hired voice actors/ are syndicated around the country
ReplyDeleteSource: I worked in radio for 5 years
Jeremy Kyle?
ReplyDeletethose fake free roses calls for cheating are beyond fake and how do people believe it still?
ReplyDeleteFaked calls are an enormous part of radio and TV. Remember Love Line? Yeah, 75% fake calls. Even the news shows do it.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Cohen. And yes Montana he's a mogul, look at his production credits on IMDB.
ReplyDeleteAndy Cohen.
ReplyDeleteComo say what?

ReplyDeleteEver hear a really wild call in on the radio? Most likely a paid actor.
ReplyDeleteEver hear one of those radio pranks where the dj's call someone's wife or husband (with the other spouse on the air) and make up some big lie for a laugh? Paid actors.
Part of it's legal liability, they really don't want to risk putting nuts on the air with profanity or racism, and they can't risk somebody's spouse flipping out at their job or harming themselves.
Kind of like how reality shows are scripted, you're not hearing actual conversations.
In the LA area, Ryan Seacrest runs the "Ryan's Roses" segment often on the radio. This story fits him.
ReplyDeleteThis is Seacrest, he's the one who is consistently on a morning show. Andy being a guest sometimes doesn't really constitute him being on a morning show like this blind is making it sound.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like Andy though, because there has been so much pushback with him hosting the NYE CNN thing with Anderson. Even in the first year, when Kathy's drama was still very fresh, every tweet I saw was a variation of "Bring Back Kathy"
ReplyDeleteIf you live in Los Angeles you know this is Ryan Seacrest. On his KISS-FM morning radio show he does a segment called "Ryan's Roses" where someone is offered free roses to send to their significant other, who by the way is on the other line and is "shock and surprised" when the roses are sent to someone other than them. It's totally fake but somewhat entertaining. It guess it's like "listening" to the Jerry Springer show. Lots of staged drama.
ReplyDeleteNot always paid actors. A local radio station was going to play a really cruel prank on a co-worker and tried to get me involved in it. His wife was behind it. I eventually couldn't stand the idea of it happening and making him so upset, so I told him and got him to refuse the calls. The radio DJ was livid, but I felt good about letting him know. His wife must be a real bitch!!!
