This permanent A/A- list singer is not really that great of an actual singer despite what she does for a living on and off stage, and that is the reason her boyfriend is giving for excluding her from a musical special he is hosting/coordinating.
Gwen was just on Ellen show saying that she and Blake are not engaged, just dating. Sounds like the relationship contract is winding down. I think she'll be out of the picture, or close to it, by the time the special airs.
So, even though she can't really sing, I don't think this has anything to do with that.
I attempted to listen to her cover of Glycerine by her ex. Bush dude. It is not good. However...i do really like her and Moby in "Southside" from about 20 years ago.
I think it was a publicity contract/ maybe partially negotiated by whatever show they're on together & wasn't there another blind that he's sleeping with Miranda again?
@p swer, not this time. Publicity for the Voice, distractions from bad publicity for their divorces. They seemed to have hooked up for real at some point. But their exes looked worse in the tabloids.
If you Google Gavin Rossdale, you get 5 pages of Gwen results. Not a month has gone by in the past (how long has it been, year? two years?) without a "secretly married!" or "she's having twins" headline in the newsstand mags. Her PR team is well compensated, to be sure. Blake has a tour coming up next year. The breakup will probably happen once ticket sales hit a slump.
I loved her in No Doubt back in the '90's but it seems like she's just frozen in that era. I know that there are a lot of people (famous or not) who kind of cling to the era that was their prime but I would have loved to see her evolve.
I'm a dogshit singer but if I took vocal lessons and really put some effort into it I could become technically proficient on some level because I am not tonedeaf.
@Hunter just wondering cuz I'm actually curious but did they touch up Madonna's voice a lot for Evita then? I assumed she could sing because I absolutely loved the soundtrack for that (or I AM tonedeaf :) )
@sara, making it work - obviously you don't follow ENTY, not a contract, never was. Also, Gwen ALREADY did a version of this Elvis special in 2002 with No Doubt and covered Suspicious Minds, (look on You-Tube), and surprise, Blake is covering the same song in the special
Not fake. They are unusually well suited each other and there is a lot of real affection there. They both were cheated on by the exact same type of cold-hearted snake. It bonded them to find someone actually nice for a change. Sadly all that good still won't stop a wandering eye and someone feeling bored.
@Ophelia Madonna worked very hard on vocal lessons and training before Evita. You could really tell her work paid off because the quality of her singing, for her, in the movie was unexpected.
Gwen Stefani.
ReplyDeleteBlake told her she can't sing?! Lol!

ReplyDeleteCan't sing, can't keep him from running around, might be time for some life changes.
ReplyDeleteI thought this was about the Elvis tribute Blake is hosting in February.

DeleteI thought this was the Elvis special and I could really see Gwen vamping up “Love Me Tender”.

@Sara, probably right. The annual contact purging after the holidays.
ReplyDeleteGwen is an amazingly nice and sweet person, Blake is just a tall dork who thinks he's funny. Fuck him, Gwen can do so much better

ReplyDeleteGwen had her own holiday special last year and she had Blake on it. i bet she is pissed.
ReplyDeleteContract with Blake? Are you saying she is a beard????
ReplyDeleteIt makes sense.

ReplyDeletePoor Gwen, Blake is not marrying you no time soon..
ReplyDeleteThe Enquirer is wrong? 😱They've got Blake and Gwen got married in secret in Reno.

@Tommy I totally forgot all about that song!!! I'm listening on YT rn!!

ReplyDeleteShe's not a good singer and unlike Madonna who is also not a gifted singer, she has not put in the work to account for her natural lack of talent.
ReplyDeleteI'm a dogshit singer but if I took vocal lessons and really put some effort into it I could become technically proficient on some level because I am not tonedeaf.
ReplyDeleteShe could be better if she had put in the work.

So what is the real reason Blake excluded her? The fact that Miranda is performing? Or is it some other woman?
ReplyDeleteWasn't there a blind recently that Blake was hooking up with his ex wife?

ReplyDeleteGwen is an awful singer. I can legit only listen to 3 songs of her. It's a miracle that she still gets to sing!
