Apparently this permanent A/A- list mostly movie actress who is an Oscar nominee/winner and an Emmy nominee/winner is spending $250K of her own money to try and get another Oscar nomination/win.
There is nothing you can't buy in Hollywood. Nothing. Although $250K seems pretty cheap for an Oscar, guess they really are declining in value. YouTube awards are the future! ;)
Kidman also has "Destroyer" this year (supposedly a better / stronger performance than Boy Erased; haven't seen either). Could be either Kidman or Roberts, though I haven't heard any buzz about "Ben is Back" award-wise.
Btw@Do Tell - I read somewhere years ago that Julia Roberts changed to 'Julia' from 'Julie.' Julie doesn't quite have the same cachet. Don't know why I remember that!
@ Kimberley - I'd read that too. The name change was allegedly because another Julie Roberts had already been issued a SAG card (SAG doesn't allow duplicate member names).
Nicole Kidman?
ReplyDeleteRight? First name that came into my head.
ReplyDeleteFor "Boy Erased". Somebody's got to pay for all the Oscars, now that Harvey's out of the picture.
ReplyDeleteHow about Julia Roberts? She’s everywhere right now.

ReplyDeleteHow much for an MTV movie award?
ReplyDeleteThey always pick weird pictures to win anyway..
ReplyDeleteI don’t watch the long and boring Osca’s show..
Julia, Julia, Julia.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first line of her IMDB bio: "Julia Fiona Roberts never dreamed she would become the most popular actress in America".
ReplyDeleteBecause it's my presumption that the actor usually writes or approves their own IMDB entry, I find it a bit eyerolling.

Variety, Hollywood Reporter, and Deadline all buzzed Oscar-y for Ben is Back.

ReplyDeleteThat's true. As far as stage names go, it isn't much of a change.
ReplyDeleteJulia is thirsty and a rude person, I'm going with her.
ReplyDeleteI've been critical of ole Nic but she was really damn good in Boy Erased.

ReplyDeleteJulia Roberts wanted an oscar nom for secret in their eyes , the script was written to suit her
she was snubbed
Dont sleep on Glenn Close either. Shes pretty much permanent A list, a Oscar and Emmy nominee/winner.
