Early PM is best, then there's still time for leftovers later. I've been to friends' houses where they don't eat until evening, and after drinking & snacking all day, nobody was even hungry when dinner started.
Around 14:00 cst. The cousins usually pre-party with a little appetizer of MJ in the basement, whilst all the Aunts and Uncles get sloshed upstairs at the bar in the living room. All this goes on while the table is being set and the meal is being taken off the stove, out of the oven, etc. By feeding time, hilarity and/or drama usually ensues.
Usually around 5pm because I always host and there’s a limit to how much time I want to spend with my family,,,it’s drinks, dinner, dessert, then get the hell out of my house. Then more drinks 🥂
My mom always wanted to get to Cracker Barrel at noon. Problem is that noon is when many radio stations play "Alice's Restaurant" by Arlo Guthrie. But since mom is in a nursing home, I'll bring her thanksgiving dinner after the song.
I don't eat on Thanksgiving. I fast; and I go out and visit with my friends who are dealing with homelessness. I stopped doing "The Holidays" a few years ago. They are a terrible time for millions of people. Persons with no home; incarcerated; hospitalized; persons with a missing loved one; persons in hospice; lonely, elderly.... When there's a holiday that all can enjoy, then it will mean something.
When the buffalo’s youngest boy left for college, he said “Bison”.

ReplyDelete2ish
ReplyDelete5ish. It is all adults - so we have cocktails for a bit, then a ton of wine with dinner.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid it was always around 3.
Noon..then nap, eat, repeat.
ReplyDelete2 PMish. That way there's still time for leftovers and more pie.
ReplyDeleteI do not do Thanksgiving anymore so I eat whatever I feel like eating whenever I get hungry.
ReplyDeleteReservations are usually for 1pm.
ReplyDeleteVaries, usually early afternoon, often 1pm. Not a total fan of 1pm, always feel hungry later on.

ReplyDelete2:00 to 3pm-ish gives everyone plenty of time to show up, chill , get caught up,have a few drinks and then sneak away before dinner and smoke one
ReplyDeleteI will confirm that some sober Thanksgiving meals are the pits. I mean sheeit, even Jesus had wine at his family gatherings, that's got to be a sign.

ReplyDeleteI aim to have the meal on the table by 3 for all the big events (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas). Then we get into the leftovers at around 7.
ReplyDelete2ish, time for a few cocktails and a smoke then dinner. Then a few more drinks, another smoke and pie.

ReplyDeleteOtherwise, I think 2 pm is doable.
