Today's Blind Items - Government Cooperation

Many decades ago there was a famous UFO author/researcher/filmmaker who also remarkably enough also was the creator of a long lasting children's show that is still referenced today. He wrote it and wrote the music and was quite the polar opposite from his UFO passion. Apparently someone in the government was a fan of the show and when he realized what the creator's main passion was decided to help him out. He gave the creator access to all of the government UFO files and film footage in order to film a documentary. At some point, a higher up found out what was going on but decided it would cause more of a stink to stop everything, so they let it proceed - with one caveat. The film footage the government was going to allow him to use and which he had seen was not going to be allowed in the movie. It basically killed any chance the documentary would be a success because the whole premise of it was leading up to the footage which apparently was jaw dropping.

Fast forward a decade and the creator reconnects with a movie producer. This producer has done some things, but is mainly known for being the sibling of a permanent A++ list director who at the time was an A+ list director but still fairly new to the business. The UFO guy and the A+ list director had worked on a film together a few years earlier where our UFO guy told some tales, but the director really didn't believe it all. Anyway, the UFO guy and the producer reconnect and start working on a movie that was so cheap it shared a set with a movie that featured the exact same plot line with different actors filmed a few years earlier. The thing is though, the UFO guy told the producer the same stories he had told the director a few years earlier. This time though, he dropped a bombshell. He had made a copy of the film the government gave him to use. He had taken a film camera and secretly filmed the scene when it was showing on a screen from a projector manned by a military officer.

Our UFO guys shows the footage to the producer who then gets her sibling to view it. The director decides he is going to use the footage in a new movie he is set to make. The government finds out about the footage and cuts a deal with the director. They will give him access to things he can use in all his films whether it is money or technology or ideas the government is working on. He can see the prototypes and incorporate them into his movies. It is why he has always focused on science and the future and aliens and the paranormal in addition to family fare. Apparently as part of the deal, he does have a copy of that footage. A clear copy.

  5. Spielberg is a good guess.

My first thought was Penny and Garry Marshall, but I didn't think Garry favored "science" type movies. He was rom-com all the way.

  12. Okay so, work with me.

In 1981, Anne Spielberg is a director on Escape from DS-3. IMDB trivia includes "The model of the detention satellite and corridors are the same ones that are in 'Warp Speed' from the same production company. Robert Emenegger is a producer on DS-3.

A few years earlier, in 1977, Steven Spielberg did Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Robert Emenegger, at the same time, released a "documentary" called UFOs: Past Present and Future to capitalize on Spielberg's timing.

The wiki for UFOs includes details on access granted for production: "Robert Emenegger was asked by either the U.S. Republican Party, officials at California’s Norton Air Force Base, or the U.S. Department of Defense itself to produce a film about UFOS using only official DoD and NASA source material."

It seems then that some of this footage could have ultimately made its way into District 9.

  16. Emenegger was a composer for the kids show, Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp.

"That year, Robert Emenegger and Allan Sandler were in contact with officials at Norton Air Force Base in order to make a documentary film. Emenegger and Sandler report that Air Force Officials (including Paul Shartle) suggested incorporating UFO information in the documentary, including as its centerpiece genuine footage of a 1971 UFO landing at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico.

The documentary was released in 1974 as UFO's: Past, Present and Future (narrated by Rod Serling) containing only a few seconds of the Holloman UFO footage, the remainder of the landing depicted with illustrations and re-enactments."

  17. Not buying the deal to keep the director quiet part. They could have easily blackmailed him into silence or arranged an accident. Perhaps they were using him for disinformation.

I was kinda hoping it would have been M. Night Shyamalan (even if he doesn't have a producer sibling) and footage in Signs.

OK. So maybe saw the Alien Autopsy footage and decided to incorporate that idea into the ending of ET.
(But the footage that was eventually released by Fox looked hopelessly fake, so who knows if this is truth, fiction, or some mix).

Lancelot Link wasn't a long running show, though, it was only on for one season. It wasn't shown much at all in syndication, either. Emenegger also didn't create the show, he was just the composer.

I thought James Cameron, and Ridley Scott might work, but no sisters, and foreign born.

  32. Cheap film is "Escape from DS-3" filmed in '81, directed by Robert Emenegger and produced by Anne Speilberg.

Nothing to this blind, as back b4 the internet our government lied even more pervasively than they do now. Space race, starwars program, UFOs we're all part of the massive disinformation programs that grew like weeds out of every think tank and government agency

  33. It's most likely a piece written by "Himmmmm" as it isn't full of child molesting accusations like most of the other blind items involving Spielberg here. And the style fits.

However, you should be aware that Emenegger and Anne Spielberg worked on other projects, like a TV movie, directed, written and produced by Emenegger, The Perfect Woman. He also wrote the score to it.

Blurb from the DVD cover: "King of distant planet, fanatic of earth TV programs, seeks an earth woman as his wife. He sends two of his most loyal – and, as it turns out, stupidest – subjects to earth to find him a queen to help rule his planet

It stars Fred Willard as the king and Joanne Nail as the perfect woman.

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0228712/reference

Do you really think that someone who got access to secret footage about UFOs, and most likely had a life-changing experience due to it, would make a silly comedy involving aliens in between more serious fare? Or maybe aliens look like Fred Willard in real life.

I bet you one beer that some publicist for one of Emenegger's cheap productions gave a few potential investors or distributors a beautiful tale that implied that he had actually some footage he couldn't show, which was the base for the new project. But that Anne Spielberg's more famous brother had seen the real footage and could vouch for its authenticity.

Anyway, how strange it would be for some guy to go to an army base with a film camera in his trousers, to not be patted down by some soldier, and to be able to film the footage during a super secret screening?
We're not talking about taking your smartphone out to film something at the theater these days. We're talking about at least a Super 8 camera, which was quite large. And there's no way that the Military would let their secret footage be screened outside of a military base.

Once again, if it's too beautiful to be true...

  34. Well I want to see the UFOs. I love stuff like this. Especially documentaries. It is hard to believe God only created planet Earth with people because if he did he must be disappointed.

Surely we are not the center of the universe.

Spielberg, perhaps. More and more entertainers are being quite open about their own UAP experiences.
Dan Aykroyd discusses his four personal UFO encounters in "UFO Unplugged". Rocker Sammy Hagar talks about 'The Nine', who he believes are a a group of aliens that 'downloaded' information to Hagar.
Steven Tyler talked about his strong belief in UFO's and alien life, in his interview with Joe Rogan.
Actor Kurt Russell, of course, was the civilian pilot who witnessed the massive mother ship gliding over Phoenix, one night in 1997. A phenomenon we now know as 'The Phoenix Lights', which was seen by thousands and thousands of citizens.
I highly recommend Richard Dolan's books and lectures, particularly his Exopolitics lecture in Sydney, 2016.

Dolan is the man, no doubt! I'm particularly fond of the Secret Space Program conference in 2014. Catherine Austin Fitts answered just about every question I've had regarding the global economy and where we're headed...

My dad did a lot of contract work for SDI (star wars) when I was a kid. We lived in the CA desert, and I saw things I still can't explain to this day. It wasn't until my dad died of "unnatural causes" that we learned where he had worked, and what he was working on during all the months he was away on classified business.

My siblings and I were also the only kids that weren't allowed to see E.T. because our parents disapproved. They never fully explained why, either. Food for thought, perhaps...

Emenegger and Sandler were offered the film of the alien base encounter for the documentary that they had been asked to make for the Pentagon. Negotiations ensued and involved meetings right in the Pentagon where Emenegger and Sandler did not even have to sign in. Emenegger described the situation in a 1994 Texas presentation for the Electric Viewpoint.

We headed for the Pentagon and we walked into the building – I remember the two of us, and for some reason we were herded by two plain clothes men into a little narrow room with fluorescent lights over it and I just remember, and some man sitting behind a desk and he pointed at us and he said “We’re very concerned about you bringing up the subject of UFOs. He said it causes when people like you put these things on the air it causes the phone lines – it ties up our phone lines. It is not part of our duty, our national defense”, and on and on. I was under these fluorescent lights watching these three plain clothes men. I thought I was going to die there for a minute.

But again my partner had enough sense to say “Heh! We were invited by Mr. Hatch by Colonel Coleman, and they said “Okay, well just a warning.” So we went of to meet Colonel Coleman. Now he’s the one that looks like Hemmingway with the beard walking through the E-ring at the Pentagon. The first thing he says to us was, “You know if you come across information or technology which is against the interest of our national defense- you can be fined and imprisoned.” So it was like warning #2.

Then we went into his inner office, and a strange thing happened. He said, “Come on boys. Sit down. Let me tell you something.”

  40. All those actors and celebrities are just pushing the lie.

and the earth isn't the center of the universe because there is no outer space or universe. Earth is a stationary and flat like a frisbee

  42. I'm not very interested in aliens. Space, but not really aliens. The people into them tend to be really unhinged. Maybe that's why I'm not interested. You can't talk to many people without them getting really weird and out there.

And the Earth isn't flat Alf. Space exists. Why would it be flat? What's the purpose of a flat Earth? Are you sure that flat Earth isn't disinformation? Flat earthers tend to be obsessive and abusive towards people that don't believe. I find that suspect.

Anyway, some things are beyond human understanding. That's why when I see "fallen angels" I'm not just super skeptical but I think of the way it's being interpreted and it bothers me. Interpreting something beyond human understanding through a human lens leads to delusion. It's like trying to translate a foreign sacred text into English. It will always lose something in the translation. Except here it's like trying to translate something that is far beyond mortal humanity by using the cultural and religious beliefs of humanity. It just will never work. It's like two languages that cannot be translated into each other. Not unless you shed every shred of belief and faith that you have and look at it completely unbiased. Most people are not willing to do that because they fear damnation.

I don't know. I have no real beliefs myself. But I'd rather not peel back the veil and lose reality right now either. Because once you do you can never go back to the way things were.

  43. I don't think NASA has any actual proof of extraterrestrial intelligent life. UFO sightings doesn't mean what they recorded came from outer space. It likely came from Russia with love. Like Trump, LOL!
