Blind Items Revealed #5 - Kindness

November 9, 2018

He is still mostly an a-hole, but this B+ list writer/actor/philanderer/player all of you know from his last significant other agreed to donate $50K to help find new homes for all the greyhounds in Florida that now need new homes. Apparently he also has about 100 people ready to adopt one.

Justin Theroux

  1. Ok. Gotta give the dude props for that. I voted to end greyhound racing in FL and happy to say it passed, so this blind reveal makes me happy.

    Thanks for sharing Enty.

  3. That's nice of him but I hope the 100 people have adequate space for these dogs. Doesn't he live in NYC?

  4. Wow. He has totally redeemed himself for me with this one.

  5. Theroux understands the urge to chase something small and furry and appreciates that being a dog is one of life's noblest pursuits. Git 'em homes, Justin, git 'em! :)

  6. I know someone who adopted a retired greyhound a few years ago. This older dog was SO calm and sweet and so happy not to racing. He was the joy of her life and they were inseparable.

I lived only about 30 miles from a race track, had a student that worked at one and I never went. My student even invited me and I had to tell him I couldn't watch those poor dogs.

  7. @HK I live in NYC and have seen a lot of greyhounds, while apts might be smaller. We have amazing parks to take LONG walks in. They are so graceful and beautiful pups.

  8. My friend adopted an ex racing greyhound. She is such a big beautiful couch potatoe. These dogs are not as active as one would imagine. I took my fluffy rabbit looking 4kg dog over for a sleepover & was pleasantly surprised at how well they got on. No muzzle needed. These ex racers can be rehabilitated to make wonderful pets

  9. Renee, my mother adopted a greyhound/lurcher cross and he was a total couch potato! If it was raining, he'd poke his long snout out through the doorway and back into the room! He hated getting wet so mum bought him a doggy raincoat. He was the oldest dog in the dogs' home and had been there 5 years - because he wasn't fluffy and cute looking, he was continually overlooked. He was with mum for many years until a few months ago when he had to be put to sleep (cancer.)

  10. Yep I voted to kill greyhound racing in Fla. too. 10 out of the 14 greyhound tracks remaining are here and one is about 4 miles away. They race 1 week a year to keep their poker room open. No more after next year.

  11. As a greyhound owner, I applaud him. This bill made no provisions to find these amazing animals homes...they’re the best pets you’ll ever have.

  12. @kimberley. I’m so sorry for your mums loss. It sounds like she gave her dog a wonderful life. No more puppies for me. I will only rescue from now on.

  14. @Renee Thank you for your kind words. He did have a wonderful life and was spoiled rotten; loads of love, food & treats and long walks in the nearby woods and meeting his doggy pals.

  15. It's a myth that greyhounds need room to run. They are lazy couch potatoes in their post-racing lives. Fine in an apartment with walks, like any other dog.Anyway, good for Justin. This redeems him for a lot of bad behavior in my eyes.

  16. I had a Whippet, Emily, that was a joy.
