This A+ list show runner just made a big charitable donation, and put the word out that he wanted the maximum press coverage possible. The show runner had originally planned to make this donation a couple years in the future. Once he learned of the upcoming bad press about one of his good friends - the show runner moved up the timeline. Savvy insurance policy, in case any questions come his way.

Still waiting on that Esquire story about Bryan Singer.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that it has been put off until after "Bohemian Rhapsody" had a very successful debut weekend.
I saw the movie and loved it. I don't know who to credit - Singer or the replacement director - but somebody made a fabulous film.
I'll be surprised if Rami Malek doesn't get a Best Actor nom. Costume designer should get a nom too. Bryan Singer? We'll see.
Was predicted earlier this week to do $40million here, doing $50million here and $141million worldwide. If there's a story it needed to come out before this weekend, too late now to affect anything. He's the only one who has mentioned anything about a bad story, Esquire never confirmed or denied a story or a publishing date.
ReplyDeleteYeah, if they were trying to kill the film, the story would have had to come out a good week or two before premiere date.
ReplyDeleteEsquire is owned by Hearst Magazines. "Bohemian Rhapsody" was released by Fox, now being incorporated into Disney.
Not impossible that someone at the Mouse House made a phone call to someone at Hearst, asking if whether or not they'd like to still have access to Disney stars and publicity in the future.
I have to say, BR is excellent, funny and sad. Thoroughly entertaining
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I thought the depiction of Freddie's loneliness amid wealth, fame, and decadence was particularly well done. His finally finding Mr. Right was a little rushed, but you can't have everything.
ReplyDeleteThis weekend a pedophile had the #1 film at the box office.
ReplyDeleteThe success of the film will translate in Bryan Singer getting more directing gigs.
The moviegoers who went to see Bohemian Rhapsody this weekend have not only greenlit a future for Bryan Singer's career, but they've greenlit more victims.
People don't care.
Evil wins.
Oh, fuck off.
ReplyDeleteHe already had a new job - directing "Red Sonja" - before "Bohemian Rhapsody" even premiered.
@Nutty
ReplyDeleteyour response literally proved my very point - that people don't care. The success of this film determines whether he'll get greenlit projects AFTER Red Sonja, you dumb twat.
you'll say whatever you'll say to make you feel better about your choice. we get it - you're just like the millions who showed up this weekend.
we get it, you dont give a fuck you lined the pockets of a little-boy-fucker. you did that. and millions others did. now OWN IT, cunt.
So nice of the Moral Majority to join us today.
ReplyDeleteSay hi to Mrs. Falwell for me.
@nutty
ReplyDeletedafuq are you talking about? who is Mrs Falwell?
the Moral Majority doesnt exist, cunt. look around. Its an Amoral Majority.
If not throwing coins at a pedophile's movie is somehow a stuffy, prudish act - then by all means, crucify me for it. It's better than being a complacement piece of shit like you.
Go away. Stick to reposting other people’s guesses.
DeleteThe "Moral Majority" was a group led by The Reverend Jerry Falwell, who went about telling others that they had failed to obtain the level of moral purity he felt was appropriate. Kind of like you.
ReplyDeleteBetter not listen to any Tchaikovsky this holiday season, or use a Krupp coffee machine. Or enjoy anything by Michelangelo, Da Vinci, or Gore Vidal.
I think your real problem is probably with Freddie Mercury himself, isn't it? You don't like it that "Bohemian Rhapsody" is a major motion picture about a gay icon.
Poor you. That'll limit your fashion choices.
I actual agree with you on this one. Probably closeted.
DeleteClearly Nutty doesn't frequent this site.
DeletePlease shutit with your weirdo *derp* Musta been Falwell followerrrs *derp* bullshit.
Theres plenty here who understand @notthisagain words.
I'm equally appalled that anyone would high kick up in here about this amazing Brian singer fella.
Gross.
Not I thought this was a discussion the other day, most of the mainstream public don't know who directed this movie for one and also dont know anything about his perversions. They went to see the movie because either they are big Queen fanboys and girls or they went to see Rami because he was supposed to be good, or they thought it would be entertaing and good, worth the ticket
ReplyDeleteI agree and unless it's Steven Speilberg or Michael Bay most peoe don't pay attention to the director. I'm pretty sure most people that don't read CDAN have no idea what Bryan Singer is up too.
Delete@Nutty
ReplyDelete1) you are a psycho
2) as LGBTQ, nice trying to pull that one out of nowhere. looks like you're the one with internalized homophobia to like and try to tell me, a stranger, that I hate my own kind. oh sweetie.
3) Freddie is an icon to me and everyone, and he deserved better than a pedophile directing his film
4) nice relativism trying to compare boycott of one boy rapist with the others. so because all predators are not known and boycotted, that should give a free pass to all of them?
I really like watching you reach reach reach. You look so cute doing it.
@sandybrook
ReplyDeletesandy, I understand that, and Im willing to give those people a pass bc they dont know better. what I AM talking about is people who KNEW, and didnt care. these people are in the millions.
+1 to the person who cares if their money supports a pedophile
ReplyDeleteYeah, Sandybrook, I agree.
ReplyDeleteThe movie's success was about Queen's music and legacy, which has held up a lot better than many other bands who were big in the 1970s and 1980s. Where are Styx, Rush, and Foreigner today? REO Speedwagon anybody?
Lots of fans in their teens, and 20s at the "Bohemian Rhapsody" showing I saw, as well as people in their 50s and 60s who probably followed Queen on their first go-around.
Whomever made the movie - Bryan Singer or Dexter Fletcher - did a great job. A good time was had by all.
I was gonna stay out of this, Nutty, but if you're gonna disrespect Styx I will come for you!
Delete@romanhans
ReplyDeletethanks roman, I appreciate that. its discouraging to see so few of us with that opinion out in the wild.
its interesting how you shut up @nutty when I said I give the people who dont know about Singer a pass, and the people who did know and bought tickets the flack they deserve.
its almost like logic made you shut up. fuck facts, so inconvenient amirite?
I love the way you look when you reach, baby.
You're just not worth arguing with. You're not smart enough.
ReplyDelete@Nutty
ReplyDeletewhatever makes you feel better about your white flag, babe.
+1000 to @notthisagain. I'm trying to have the same convo w/a family member.
ReplyDeleteYou talk high and mighty but if you support anything in Hollywood you are supporting some sort of perverted behavior.
ReplyDelete+1 notthisagain, and rosie too. Love you.
ReplyDelete+1 notthisagain Anyone who pays to see BR whilst knowing full well that by doing so it’s lining the pockets and boosting the career of the rapist and pedophile who directed it makes me sick. If you must see the film there are ways to do so without helping to fund the abuse of minors. For example, buy a different ticket and sneak in or watch it on a (non legal) streaming device (most of us knows someone who has one!) A family I know with a 12 year old bought tickets for a Goosebumps film and snuck into BR, timed it perfectly for film times. Despite it being 6.30pm on a Saturday evening the theatre was only a quarter full. There are ways of not supporting a pedophile if you simply cannot cope without seeing this movie. I’m a huge Queen fan too but I can’t and won’t feign ignorance to Singers crimes, therefore I’ll wait until it’s either shown on TV or I can buy a second hand copy.
ReplyDeleteRosie @Nutty is a fairly regular poster and does know full well about BS 🤷🏻♀️ Kind of shocks me that someone who usually seems pretty smart would come here and actually boast about seeing the film.
ReplyDeleteI saw the film and I loved it. I’m a big fan of Rami Malek and a bigger fan of Queen, so I went and enjoyed it immensely. I also watched football today and ate a thick juicy steak for dinner. Oh and I voted straight ballot Democrat too. That about covers it.
ReplyDeleteAnd FTR I had no idea Singer directed the film. I sure as fuck didn’t go see it because he was attached. If he is a pedo, I hope he gets tossed into a vat of acid because fuck pedophiles straight to hell.
DeleteLowKey, understand about the respect re: Styx and other homegrown American bands. Styx played at my high school prom. However I think pound for pound, Queen was the superior talent.
ReplyDeleteAnd there's the difference. I don't think Queen played too many proms...
DeleteI'm just here to stick up for Foreigner. Top notch group of fellows. Friend of mine used to follow them on tour, and when he passed away, the band video taped a message for his memorial. They may not be cool or iconic, but they're good guys and their music endures.

ReplyDeleteI have no intention of watching this film, but moralistic sanctimonious virtue signallers are hypocritical assholes, so I'm with Nutty on this.
ReplyDeleteYou're all 'upset' because a pedo directed a film? How about getting upset about 1.6 billion people who worship an entire religion that pushes, supports and engages in pedophilia, was written by a pedophile, worships a pedophile, and practises pedophilia openly in 50+ countries while now exporting their rape and pedophilia into the west, as we speak?
Take Hollywood in all its' disgusting filthy depravity, and multiply the number of victims by the millions, and what do you get?
You get the ideology that social justice warriors everywhere PROTECT AND SUPPORT, with their cowardly silence of consent, and their looking-away-nothing-to-see-here attitude.
Even worse: they attack those who dare to tell the truth about it!
They rage and foam at their mouths at people who go see a movie, and scream racism when sensible people point out to their hideously disturbing double standards, but stick their empty heads in the sand when it comes to actual condemnation of the horrors that afflict a third of the planet.
They see themselves as 'good' people, the righteous amongst us others, the evil. They sleep well at night after having trolled somebody on Facebook into oblivion for voicing support of Trump, or they meet after one of their pointless marches to discuss how empowering their good deed of the day was: walking from one street to another, screaming obscenities and threatening violence, to anyone who will disagree with them. They set fire to universities and call this 'resistance'. The only thing they are actually resisting, is the expansion of their tiny primitive brains.
Fuck all of you hypocrites. You're no better than anyone, in fact, you are worse, because you are useful idiots and motherfucking cowards.
Anyone getting upset that 'Bohemian Rhapsody' made bank this weekend are obviously ignorant of what Freddie used to get upto in Morocco back in the day.
ReplyDelete@longtimereader
ReplyDeleteAnd there is EXACTLY the glaring elephant in the room that NONE of us who do worship Freddie's otherworldly talent want to face.
So does that end the fight?
Because we each have to do what is best for US to do, or at least what we can live with.
I didn't know about Freddie until it was over.
I know about Singer now.
Freddie's estate might profit from this movie, but Freddie will not.
Singer will profit now.
Do with that what you will.
