Blind Item #3
This three named actor who will always be associated with an A+ list creation of his was featured in an article for a monthly magazine. The reporter wanted to call it Ego Ego Ego but the editor and powers that be killed that idea and made it a puff piece rather than what it started out as.
Billy Bob Thornton/Slingblade?
ReplyDeleteLin Manuel Miranda
ReplyDeleteNot bad SK:

I wondered why Enty used "creation"
ReplyDeleteLMM created the Broadway musical Hamilton in that he came up with the songs and casting concept. (But his inspiration for paying tribute to Hamilton, and even his lyrics, were ripped directly from the fantastic book by Ron Chernow).
DeleteHamilton? because tickets are still ridiculously priced.
ReplyDeleteyea, lin manuel miranda has by all accounts become a HUGE egomaniac (and has regularly started cheating on his significant other cause, hamilton groupies/big fame)
ReplyDeleteNo doubt Miranda
ReplyDeleteAren't all celebrities Ego Ego Ego?? Just some of them hide it better than others? I got tired of Miranda, he was everywhere at one point, as some "perfect creature", "loving husband" and "master in everything".
ReplyDeleteBah. I prefer to believe LMM is exactly who he appears to be. "By all accounts?" I haven't heard any of them. The VF profile makes him sound as lovely as I want him to be and I'll stick wtih that.
ReplyDeleteI got hold of the soundtrack because i wanted to see what the fuss was about and boy oh boy, what a steaming pile of white guy trying to rap nonsense. I got second hand embarrassment just listening to it. Awful.
ReplyDeleteVanity Fair has become horrible since Graydon Carter left, and it was already on the downward trajectory while he was still running it. But this new woman editor has put a stake in its heart. She's the worst. I stopped reading several months ago and suggest you do, too.
ReplyDeleteVF I used to tear into the day it arrived. Now it deserves to be torn up and tossed in the trash.
Hamilton was a bastard son of a prostitute who rose to become a Founder despite Thomas Jefferson doing everything he could to ensure only the wealthy elite ever held power.
ReplyDeletelongtimereader: LMM is not white, and neither are almost all of the cast.
ReplyDeleteThis is obviously supposed to be Lin, but there are zero reports of his ego or of him cheating. The VF article was a puff piece, but mostly due to the horrendous writing and the lack of interest the author had in his subject.A few interesting details came up and there was absolutely no follow through by the author- it was a terrible celebrity expose by any measure. He does seem to anger a lot of right wing trolls though...
ReplyDeleteSasha Baron Cohen?
ReplyDeleteI would really like for this to be anyone BUT LMM.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if a Death Metal musical about Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr starring an all white cast would go over as well?
ReplyDeleteThey could probably mix "I Have a Dream" and Metallica's "Enter Sandman" pretty well.
ReplyDeleteI think it is Lin Manuel Miranda too. He has some brief articles in some of the magazines I subscribe to. Interesting.
ReplyDeletePretty unprofessional of the writer, who if he was worth his salt knows celebrities have egos and how to work around them for a profile piece.
ReplyDeleteThe Vanity Fair article read as vindictive to me, for no discernible reason. Lin is a tremendous talent and the author of the article couldn't even acknowledge that.
Yeah, Lin pisses off the Reich. That might be the reason here.
Does VF swing to the right?
ReplyDeleteVF swings left, more so when Carter was writing his Editorials. Every month was an excoriation of trump and those grifters profiting with trump.
ReplyDeleteMiranda wrote some great songs for the Moana Soundtrack, particularly "How Far I'll Go" and "You're Welcome." The best collection in a Disney animated film since The Princess and the Frog. He definitely knows how to write a good hook.
ReplyDeleteI first learned who he was, before Hamilton, because I thought the “Murray Had a Little Lamb” song on Sesame Street was so clever. I googled it and found out that he wrote it. It’s super cute.
Delete@Ddonna Tarttty, I totally agree. For the first time in decades, I will not be renewing my VF subscription. I think I've read 5 articles in the past 3 years. I HATE the new format. I HATE that I don't know half the people they profile anymore (feeling my age, I suppose).
ReplyDeleteVF was my go-to magazine, and now it just gathers dust. The end of an era for me. I guess I better subscribe to AARP now!
No. Usually VF doe not swing right. But I really wonder about that writer.
ReplyDeleteStopped reading VFxafter Dominick Dunne died. Too many stupid stories about Royalty too
ReplyDelete"He does a lot to piss off right wing trolls."
ReplyDeleteI follow probably 5,000 right wingers/GOP political insiders on social media, plus your basic talking head/blogger/think tanker on social media.
I cannot remember a single time seeing anyone even ever mention his name, tbh. I do remember when Hamilton came out and a number of those people always talking about trying to get tickets...
I'd be cautious labeling anything left/right in regards to trolls. I've found that most are just that-trolls-of all ideologies trying to get a rise out of ppl due to loneliness and some for just being pot stirrer types.
I've got a number of them from all parties that follow my accts, and other than just changing the specific think they want to whine about, they all seem to have a cookie cutter framework with issues and names to rotate in and out.
Lin Manuel Miranda is not white.
ReplyDeleteMy ex worked with his father.
@Aoife — ever hear anything about the elder Mr. Miranda? I hope he was nice.
ReplyDeleteIf there is a person on this planet who deserves an overinflated ego, it’s Lin-Manuel Miranda. I eagerly await whatever his next creation may be!
Brayson - there's a line in Hamilton that says "you'll always be adored by the things you create"!
ReplyDelete@Zeroh
ReplyDelete"I cannot remember a single time seeing anyone even ever mention his name"
How about the words of your fearless leader? Yeah, him, and the Twitter support from his followers was enormous. Go find Donny's Twit and read the responses. If you are so "connected" you should have seen it already.
What about the guy who interrupted a performance to spew angry Trump speech? How about the flash mobs of Trumpers at the theaters playing Hamilton?
Guess none of that happened in your fantastic world of GOP insiders.
@kelli grrrl
ReplyDeleteI've met the elder Mr. Miranda. I remember him as being okay.
I
