Today's Blind Items - It Was Murder
Halloween seems like a fitting day to talk about this Hollywood murder. It didn't actually happen in Hollywood. It happened a long way from Hollywood in fact, on a movie set. This long time A list dual threat actor was probably B+ list at the time. His offspring probably reached the same level of fame at their peak. The offspring has shinier hardware nominations for their efforts. Anyway, our actor told the person in charge on the set that he knew not only about the financial exploitation of all the young children, tweens and teens on the set, but also the sexual exploitation. This was back in the day in a faraway place before there were smart phone or social media. Do you know how much child porn was filmed during this movie? Hundreds and hundreds of hours which is still floating through Hollywood. They used the same cameras from the filming of the movie. Our actor wanted to put a stop to it and was killed for his efforts. Some of the exploitation was revealed in an investigation, but that was just the tip. It was enough to get people to move on to other things.

DeleteVic Morrow offspring Jennifer Jason Leigh? accidental decapitstion on set?
ReplyDeleteYep
DeleteSo that then would be Twilight Zone The Movie, produced by Steven Spielburg and John Landis.
DeleteMartin Sheen is alive though
ReplyDeleteYeah u right again
DeleteIsn't Martin Sheen still alive? Vic Morrow sounds good, but wasn't Twilight Zone filmed in Hollywood? Or Santa Clarita, California?
ReplyDeleteId have to check and see if I can find that out.
ReplyDeleteThe Jeff Morrow thing sounds off. He wasn't all that well known and I don't know of any offspring he had either. That doesn't mean to say he hasn't got any famous by-blows, just that I don't know of them.
ReplyDeleteBruce Lee and Brandon Lee?
ReplyDeleteThe helicopter crash was in Santa Clarita, Calif so not far from Hollywood
ReplyDeleteWheres Ventura County, California, thats where Morrow died?
ReplyDeleteVentura us on the 5about an hour away from LA. That was a terrible tragedy and hope it was not a hit. 2 children died with Mr Morrow.
Delete5 about..
DeleteIt’s a good guess Sandy... my grandfather and uncle were friendlywith him (after a project I’ll have to ask mom )and I remember there were stories about what a character he was etc. I’d like to think he fought the good fight.
DeleteVic Morrow, sorry.
ReplyDeleteI get the impression this movie was filmed overseas, maybe Asia, where it would be easy to exploit children. How far is back in the day for this Enty?
ReplyDeletespielberg.....
ReplyDeleteThere is zero chance Vic Morrow was intentionally killed via helicopter crash.
ReplyDeleteSheen filming in SE Asia where he had a heart attack. Marlon was there too so tons of debauchery. Cs with multiple statues.
ReplyDeleteGonna go with Bruce and Brandon lee as well
ReplyDeleteDropping a helicopter on someone is kinda extreme. I'd assume there are easier ways to kill someone and make it look like an accident.
ReplyDeleteThey were decapitated. Not crushed and i remember when it happenned
DeleteYes, video of it is available online.
DeleteI could never watch it. OMG...
DeleteBrandon Lee didnt win any awards and I think Bruce was a way bigger star than Brandon. Bruce is a legend and should probably be listed as permanent A.
ReplyDeleteIts most likely someone other than Lee or Morrow. And its definitely not Sheen.
ReplyDeleteRight. He was killed.
DeleteThe Vic Morrow guess seems the best, despite Enty making it sound far from Hollywood. There really are not very many actors who died on movie sets, let alone ones with famous offspring. @Lonely Bastard,Morrow was the star of TV's Combat, his daughter is Jennifer Jason Leigh, and his death made headlines. I believe he ranks higher for TV.
ReplyDeleteI thought of David Carradine, but don't think he had any award winning kids. Death was in Bangkok or somewhere like that.
ReplyDeleteJennifer Jason Leig?! Really? Wow, I never knew that. I always though she was a sister with Jaime Lee Curtis, and her folks were Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't get Combat here in the UK when I was a kid, so even though I knew his face as a good strong character actor in movies, I didn't know he was that famous.
Tuesdi got it with David Carradine death ruled a suicide in Bangkok. Keith Carradine won an Oscar for songwriting (It Aint Easy I think) in 1976
ReplyDeleteBrother not offspring.
DeleteBrandon Lee. Killed in NC on the set. Fragment of a bullet in what was a prop gun. Really??? Nominated for a a Fangoria Chainsaw Award for Best Actor
ReplyDeleteSandy - I think they were brothers, though? Not offspring? It was the first thing that came to mind, but not sure it is right?
ReplyDeleteThere were lawsuits and trials in the Twilight Zone film case, and Landis was even charged. Was Spielberg or Landis responsible for the"hit"? Spielberg was never blamed,Landis was.SD Auntie is correct,Morrow and one of the children were decapitated, the other crushed.
ReplyDeleteShit you're right Robert is their father😔
ReplyDeleteIm sticking with Vic Morrow then, he fits the best.
Movie with the child raping was Bad News Bears ?
ReplyDeleteCan't be Morrow, TZ was filmed locally, his deeath was not remote.
ReplyDeleteActors with deceased actor fathers:
ReplyDeleteJohn/David or Keith or Robert Carradine
Lloyd/Jeff or Beau Bridges
Bruce/Brandon Lee
Jerry/Ben Stiller
Henry/Peter or Jane Fonda
Tony/Jamie Lee Curtis
Eddie/Carrie Fisher
John Jr/Drew Barrymore
According to the pronouns used in the blind, the parent is male, but the child could be male or female...
Jerry is alive. Ann Meara is dead.
DeleteThe David Carradine guess...Martha Plimpton is his niece (Daughter of Keith), John Carradine his father.
ReplyDeleteIt happened a long way away from Hollywood, some might say it was in another dimension. A dimension, not only of sight and sound, but of mind....
ReplyDeleteDo you honestly either a) a pilot agreed to crash his helicopter to murder an actor and two children, or b) the copter was sabotaged to fall precisely where it could kill the actors?
ReplyDeleteCome on.
Plus, I believe there were only the two children on the set not children, tweens, and teens like the blind says.
DeleteVic morrow -twilight zone
ReplyDelete'some of the exploitation revealed'....hours and conditions but not the paedo stuff.
it was filmed in a place called 'Indian Hills'
https://www.google.ie/amp/s/www.history.com/.amp/this-day-in-history/actor-and-two-children-killed-on-twilight-zone-set
No, but I think Landis, who yelled "Get lower! Lower!" right before the crash didn't give a shit about Morrow because he was maybe trying to do the right thing.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.syfy.com/syfywire/twilight-zone-the-movie-and-the-disaster-that-changed-how-films-are-made
watch the video of it below....was never going to be dangerous to the pilot....
ReplyDeletehttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2jHwEc0USS4
carradine. seriously, it says it's a long way from hollywood. not vic morrow.
ReplyDeleteJim Hutton worked on Disney's The Sky Trap and died shortly after that (poisoned?)
ReplyDeleteTim Hutton Oscar winner
It doesn't say the murder occurred during the making of the film.
ReplyDeleteit says on a movie set....
DeleteHas Kubrick Everest filmed abroad? Parts of Eyes Wide Shut were shot in England.
ReplyDeleteAnother hunch: George Lucas has also filmed most of his movies in England.
Jon, there were a lot of young boys and girls in the "kick the can" segment, according to IMBD. On the helicopter crash, it says pyrotechnics exploded from the helicopter, could be as simple as a push of a button, but I'm not watching that video!
ReplyDeleteThe hints here are telling, but not in the way some people think.
ReplyDelete"Halloween seems like a fitting day to talk about this...."
"This was back in the day in a faraway place...."
The answer is "The Twilight Zone." Fitting subject matter for Halloween, and euphemistically "a faraway place."
Vic Morrow was A List TV from "Combat," B List by the time he shot that movie. JJ-L has Oscar noms he never got.
Can you believe John Landis had the chutzpah to show up at Morrow's funeral, wasted, and go on a rambling, unwelcome, eulogy from the church pulpit about how Vic Morrow told him the movie was the greatest performance of his life? Insane.
Isn't Jerry Stiller alive?
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteIt can't be Morrow--he was never A list either TV or Movies.
When he died most people, even movie fans who heard the news, couldn't put a face to the name.
So few on-set deaths it's puzzling--one I remember, was an actual location death, Eric Fleming drowned while doing his own stunt work on rapids in the 1960's...
@Ddonna Tartty is correct,TV fans knew him well, remember, there weren't as many programs then. Besides,Enty is strange with ratings, unless he puts permanent A+++ it means very little. Everyone I knew was aware who he was.
ReplyDeleteIf this is Vic Morrow, it's another made-up blind, written on purpose to leave bread crumbs leading to (((Steven Spielberg)), like the previous blind about Back to the Future. Actually, both tell basically the same story about what happens to honest people who work with scum. The author has a pattern.
ReplyDeleteIf somebody wanted to silence an actor, they wouldn't put together a helicopter crash that also killed two child actors, because many things could go in an unpredictable way. They wouldn't do something that brings attention to the set and could result in these supposed little secrets being revealed. They wouldn't also film footage FROM THREE DIFFERENT ANGLES during the crash, which later leaked and revealed how careless John Landis was on the set that day. Actually, Landis' career never fully recovered from what emerged from the trial. Spielberg wanted to opt out of the production, but he was contractually attached. Instead of developing an original story, as planned, he phoned it in and lazily remade an existing episode.
Completely agree, total nonsense if it turns out to be Vic Morrow.
DeleteYeah, morrow was murdered by helicopter! I cannot believe anyone would even consider this as being possible, turn your brains on before commenting FFS!
ReplyDelete@Angela,and you can't possibly believe a director would put innocent children in danger, lie to their non English speaking parents, and violate child labor laws by having them work at midnight. But they did. I just reread an Eddy Murphy interview, where he discusses how Landis acted after Murphy had him hired to direct Coming to America. Landis is a total wack job.
ReplyDeletedo you have a link to this interview please?
DeleteIt's a bit difficult to crash a helicopter to decapitate someone.
ReplyDeletecarradine died in 2009.....we had smart phones and social media.
ReplyDelete@Gator: No it ain't difficult. It would be easy if you are a good helicopter pilot - and at the time, there were thousands of excellent, unemployed ex-Vietnam Huey pilots around who were used to dropping into jungle clearings with only a foot or two clearance for the main rotor.
ReplyDeleteIt would be way easier to shoot, stab, poison, od, push off a cliff, etc. than to arrange an elaborate helicopter accident. Plus, look at the footage. One wrong move and the copter could have taken out everyone on set. Very high risk just to silence someone.
Delete@omfg,I don't have a link,but it is a Feb 1990 Playboy interview.
ReplyDeleteHere's the alleged transcript of that Playboy interview, @omfg. http://prince.org/msg/100/379471
ReplyDeletethank you :)
DeleteDavid Carradine.
ReplyDeleteSo they had a helicopter propeller fall on Vic Morrow and decapitate him to keep him quiet? Seriously?? Anyone believing that IS indeed in the Twilight Zone.
ReplyDeleteThe blade of the helicopter decapitated him and one child. I do not know how Landis sleeps at night.
ReplyDeleteDavid Carradine?
ReplyDeleteFor god's sake, it wasn't Vic Morrow.
ReplyDeleteThe helicopter went down when a pyrotechnic disabled the tail rotor. A helicopter without a tail rotor is virtually impossible to control and it's crash spot impossible to predict.

ReplyDeleteBela Lugosi would be fitting for the Halloween mention. He died at age 73 in his apt of a heart attack during the filming of Ed Wood's "Plan 9 From Outer Space". Far away from Hollywood could mean "outer space". Bela's son, Bela jr, was a successful entertainment lawyer (not sure how shinier hardware nominations would fit). But anyway, Ed Wood wasn't above shooting porn. Maybe this progressed to the minors? https://io9.gizmodo.com/5852431/now-you-can-see-the-lost-erotic-fiction-of-director-ed-wood
ReplyDeleteThe blind doesn't say the offspring was also an actor.
Delete"two kids at twelve o'clock at night when there ain't supposed to be kids working"
ReplyDeletehttp://prince.org/msg/100/379471
need i remind anyone that John Landis signed the Polanski petition
Morrow/Twilight Zone is an interesting guess to me. Judith Barsi worked on the TZ in 1985 and there is much speculation that she was killed due to having a public breakdown, possibly from sexual abuse. All at the tender age of 10. They say her dad snapped and killed her, but she worked with Speilberg and other pervs during her short life/career.
ReplyDeleteTyrone Power Sr, died on the set of Miracle Man in 1932. His son Tyrone Power also died on the set of Solomon and Sheba in 1958.
ReplyDeleteThere's also a third one, Tyrone Power Jr, but if this is about the Powers', then I think it's the first two. Should be Old Hollywood though.
Never mind, Miracle Man was filmed in Hollywood, but Solomon & Sheba was not. So it *could* be Power & Power Jr.
DeleteRoy Kinnear.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great GUESS! Offspring is Rory Kinnear, who has award nominations.
DeleteThe Roy/Rory Kinnear guess is definitely intriguing, but wouldn't it say foreign-born since they are English?
ReplyDeleteI very much doubt it's Morrow.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDelete=Jim Hutton
(son, Timothy Hutton, Oscar winner)
Jim supposedly died of liver cancer... just four weeks after he was diagnosed, at only 44 years old.

ReplyDeleteYes, Landis was a complete negligent asshole back in 1982 (maybe he still is) but..... that doesn't in an way imply that he was a pedophile secretly shooting extreme child porn on the set of his logistically complicated and expensive movie, simultaneously conspiring to silence his leading actor for telling on him by concocting an elaborate helicopter accident and film it using 3-4 cameras, kill two innocent children just for the sake of it, inevitably leading to a 5 year law suit and a irreparably damaged reputation takes a deep breath
