Blind Items Revealed #1

October 2, 2018

This A list show runner is lying when he says he doesn't remember saying a ton of inappropriate remarks. OK, maybe the former cable king doesn't remember, but every other person involved or within ear shot remembers.

Matthew Weiner/ Mad Men

  2. Oh no, saying inappropriate things.

  3. How dare him say bad things about the Hammaconda. It should have slapped the shit out of him.

  4. And making January Jones wear a fat suit when she wouldn't f*ck him.

  5. Maybe they had it coming, who knows?

  6. @Brayson87 - I totally remember the fat suit, but I didn't know this was the reason JJ had to wear for a season or two. OMG, that's messed up.

  7. Plus the over saturation of the Meghan character, who led Mad Men into the doldrums, was because Jessica Paré actually agreed to fuck Wiener on the regular. Terrible actress, too, while January was fantastic. Wiener didn't seem to care as much about his show as how many women he could screw in person, or through his alter ego Don Draper.

  8. Thought it was common knowledge how January & Jessica got their roles, on his couch.

  9. Word is that January refused the couch and was made to wear the fat suit because of it.

Somewhere it was reported, at the show's beginning, that it was Jon Hamm who wanted January cast because of their chemistry together as characters (and it was great.) Now if January slept with anyone, it was definitely Hamm. She's a picky bitch like that.

  10. Oh I didn't know that about Jessica Paré, always despised the Megan character, what a waste of show time.

  11. I think it was another site that said Jan stopped sleeping with Weiner, and that is why she got the fat suit. She thought she was gonna be a big movie star when she started getting some supporting roles, and was sleeping with the director of X men.

  12. That's why I believe the rumor about Wiener and Paré - she received way too much airtime for too many seasons for such a crappy actress. Ugh, her scenes were torturous.

  13. Interesting back story! I didn't know all of this watching the show. Agree -- I preferred story lines with JJ's character. She did have much more chemistry with Hamm than JP had.

  14. @plot January is a horrific actress. She just lucked into a part that works with her particular type of lack of talent. Same thing with Kaley Cuoco and Big Bang Theory.

Weiner is a racist as well. When asked why he didn't cast any non-whites he said it was because they didn't have jobs in the advertising world at the time, which was complete bullshit. And even if it had been true, it would've been a shitty excuse.

  15. Wiener did cast black roles though. Have you watched the show?

If JJ lucked into the part, she knocked it out of the park over and over again. I can think of about 5 episodes off the top of my head...nope, just thought of 2 more...where JJ delivered and more. JJ made the most of it.

Any scene between Betty and Sally was GOLD, a mother/daughter dynamic never seen before and explains so much about the fractured images daughters often have of their mothers.

The episode where Betty finds out she is pregnant with her third (unwanted) child was amazing. Her discussions with her neighbor were great acting as well.

The episode where she and Don, post divorce, meet up at Bobby's summer camp, great acting there.

Her trip to see her father, her discovery of Don's secrets, her gleeful sex with Henry suddenly shown to explain their physical dynamic, and then her childishness with Henry sometime afterwards in the car.

JJ made the simple act of smoking a chilling reminder of who Betty was and her half loathing of her world.

Sorry dude, JJ was fucking fantastic in Mad Men whether you think she "lucked out" or not.

  16. I am mystified how anyone thinks January Jones can act at all, much less act well.

But then I don't come here for good taste.

  17. As fantastic as Mad Men was, there were a couple things out of sync.

Don marrying Meghan was one of them. They met and got engaged having known each other a few weeks or months. Little to no chemistry on screen and an awkward story line during their marriage.

The other odd thing about Mad Men was that Weiner's writing team was mostly women in their 30s. Women that age hadn't even been born let alone know what was really going on in the 60s.

Would have been dull for Weiner to have a writing team of elderly people.

  18. Although...Just like a real second marriage to a bimbo! ;)

  19. Did somebody actually say January Jones is a fantastic actress? She must have been in a different show called Mad Men, because she was terrible in the one I saw.

  20. I would say January Jones' performance was uneven. I remember some very good episodes, and the Betty/Sally dynamic was spot-on in the worst possible way

There were episodes where I can remember thinking she was phoning it in, but that was later in the series when now we see that creepy Matt Weiner was trying to ruin her career.

I didn't hate Meghan like a lot of people did, nor do I think Jessica Pare is a terrible actress, but her addition to the series did not improve it.

  21. DDonna T - Good summary. I didn't hate Meghan, but it felt like there was a better second wife. Remember the lover in the pilot episode, the one that was a greeting card designer? I always wanted her to make a reappearance. Rosemarie DeWitt! She played a bohemian... Looks like she had six episodes in season 1 and then another episode in 2010, and that was it.

  22. January is a cold bitch. No one could stand her on X-Men. She is one woman I would stay far away from.
