Stranger Things does not belong there. It’s so overrated. It feeds off of our nostalgia but when you take that part away, it’s simply good but nothing incredible. Molly Bobby Brown is also incredibly overrated and I think the other kids on the show are better. I think the new show on Showtime, The Chi should be in that list instead.
Game Of Thrones is the best on that list. Westworld is good but they try too hard to confuse the audience with the timelines which is a very cheap way to make the show seem more intelligent. Handmaid’s Tale is good too but at times can drag. This is Us is a good family show. Don’t watch the others. But Game of Thrones easily has the wittiest writing of the others I’ve named so it goes to them.
The only one of these i have watched is The Crown, and I love it! That's why the blinds about Matt Smith being such an a hole hurt me. I'm worried that season three can't possibly be as good with the new lineup. Claire Foy is perfect as the Queen!
GoT was flawed and kinda stupid but pretty epic and I was rapt every time it aired. Only afterwards did I question the ridiculousness of it. So tough to say.
ST was just as good as season one until the final episode. Too big, too "action movie." Still a great television experience, however.
I've never seen "The Americans," and I know I should. It's been beloved for a while, I bet it wins for its swan song season.
The only show I've seen on that list is Stranger Things and it wasn't very good.
I'll go with the Crown because my wife really likes it and with all the royal stuff in the news over the last year, the awards people will probably want to show they are paying attention and that they know royals exist.
I'm sure GOT will win next year, as it will be their last season. This Is Us is good, but too sappy. I thought season 2 of Stranger Things was phenomenal, and I hope they win!
The only tv I watch is from the 1970s. If you want a fabulous TV drama, watch Peter Falk drive up to a crime scene in his battered Peuguot and solve a crime on Columbo in his tattered raincoat. with Emmy winning guest stars like Robert Culp, Jack Cassidy, Patrick McGoohan, Ruth Gordon, and Leonard Nimoy, and Donald Pleasance.
His worst episode beats the 'best' of anything today.
The Handmaid's Tale with GOT at an extremely close second. Too bad for Westworld though...the first season was captivating but the second was much to choppy for a comprehensible story.
I named my horse Mayo. And sometimes, Mayo neighs.
ReplyDeleteHODOR!!!!
ReplyDeleteGAME OF THRONES
The only one of these I watch is Westworld and I don't think it's awards worthy.
ReplyDeleteAmericans and Crown are indeed 1 and 2!
ReplyDeleteIm going with The Crown for my personal choice. I enjoyed Stranger Things more, but The Crown had better performances across the board.
ReplyDeleteThat said, Handmaid will probably take the win.
Is there room for more in your boat, Sandy? Because I’d like to join you there!
ReplyDeleteI’d love to watch The Crown but I fall asleep every time I try to watch it.

I can rent a yacht down the street if there's enough people.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed Stranger Things the most out of these but I don't think the show itself is award worthy - just Will Byers.
ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones should win - especially now that it's off the books & into original territory
Westworld season 2 really sucked imho. The Americans for my dollar was the best show on TV last year.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a single episode of any of these. I prefer Acorn TV. The shows are so superior to anything in 'murica.
ReplyDeleteHandmaids Tale or GOT FTW!
ReplyDeleteTossing my vote here!

ReplyDeleteOlivia Colman is a brilliant actress, though.
DeleteI’m looking forward to her stepping into Older Elizabeth.

GOT!
ReplyDeleteGoT definitely, but it's hardly fair with their budget and all the seasons behind them.
ReplyDeleteThe Americans. It's about time.

ReplyDeleteThe Americans, which has been excellent for years and unrecognized.
ReplyDeleteThe Handmaid's Tale has fallen off the rails. That writing doesn't need to be awarded anything.
the americans. some of the best actual acting on tv in many years.
ReplyDeleteAlways GOT but the Crown runs a close second. Anne with a E is my newest guilty pleasure.
ReplyDeleteQueen Sugar too

ReplyDeleteThis is Us is the most overrated bunk on tv right now imho.
The Handmaids Tale
ReplyDeleteHandmade's Tale HAND'S DOWN (No. 1)
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE for it to go to The Americans, but it will go to The Handmaid's Tale - which is also a phenomenal show.
ReplyDeleteWestworld
ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones. And it's not that good actually. There's nothing but dreck on tv.
ReplyDeleteThe Ozark
ReplyDeleteGOT for the win. Handmaids tale second.
ReplyDeleteOh and Peaky F*ckin Blinders for my fave watch.
Game of Thrones
ReplyDeleteThe Handmaid's Tale with GOT at an extremely close second. Too bad for Westworld though...the first season was captivating but the second was much to choppy for a comprehensible story.
ReplyDeleteWRAL Weather starting Greg Fischel. He's been living the Drama of Florence. Although I guess this is more of a miniseries.
ReplyDeleteAs to the nominated shows.... This Is Us.
The Americans.
ReplyDeleteWhat a f+cking fantastic show.
I'm going to miss it.
The fact that there's no Twin Peaks is a joke.
