Blind Items Revealed #7

September 15, 2018

Apparently this is a thing for  a certain disgraced A-list director. The photo is from a party hosted by one of his friends.

Bryan Singer

  2. BOYCOTT bohemian rhapsody.
he was never fired. he edited the whole movie in post.
he has so much dirt on the execs at Fox, he's untouchable to them.
every cast member signed onto the queen film KNOWING Bryan Singer was the director.

    boycott it.

  3. I love Freddie Mercury, but I don't think I can enjoy this movie at all with Singer attached. It's a no for me.

Is the photo referring to the pics of twinks/young men in animal costumes?

  5. I was planning to boycott it because of Singer, but isn’t the whole thing lip synced anyway? I’d rather watch old footage of Freddie Mercury online and if I want to see a movie, I’ll see ASIB and watch Cooper & Gaga actually sing.

    1. You would have watched the Queen movie for the live singing? Really? The story is the most important part. And watch Gaga sing. Lol her voice is mediocre but enjoy lol

  6. I wasn't going to see it anyway, but I support the boycott!

    1. Ahh Dexter Fletcher will always be Babyface to me - no matter how old he gets.

dexter fletcher by all accounts is a decent human being and good director, so I'm not surprised they followed up with someone letting him direct Rocketman. but fletcher took over two weeks before shooting was to wrap - as in, Singer shot over 95% of the film (which is why he, by DGA rules, gets the sole directing credit). They were literally 12 days away from finishing before Singer went MIA. Fletcher swooped in and saved the day.

But it's important to remember that the entire cast signed on AFTER Bryan Singer was announced as a director. People outside of hollywood and inside of hollywood ALL know about the accusations of rape that have swirled around Singer since the mid90s. The most recent were in 2014 (before the 2017 one). And yet still, everybody signed on. Not a qualm about working with a known predator in the industry - hey, as long as its good for my career, right? they probably thought.

anyway @Mandeeba, what did you think of the film? how was Malek's performance?

if he gets nominated for an oscar Ill throw up, tbh. cause it will just be more credit for Singer, and more of a reason his 'friends' will keep him employed.

PS, when I said he was 'never fired' I mean that after it was a wrap, Singer edited the whole movie. no joke. what you'll see onscreen for Bohemian Rhapsody is straight from Singer in the editing suite.

Malek would have to beat out one of the frontrunners to nab a spot on the oscar nomination shortlist - 1) Bale 2) Cooper 3) Gosling 4) Dafoe 5) Viggo 6) Redford. Its a pretty stacked year. I like to watch the numbers and odds day by day for the oscars, its just a fun thing, thats why I know who is tracking and with what odds. It's honestly Bale vs Cooper this year. Bale's Cheney movie trailer drops on Monday, so there'll be buzz. BUT, I want to know what you think mainly about this:

obviously Malek will get nominated for a GG best actor in musical/comedy. do you think Malek's performance will get nominated for an Oscar?

  16. also is there more time spent on freddie & mary's relationship, and not on Freddie's male loves? that was an initial concern, that it was going to show his bisexuality but heavily lean on the side of "Freddie Loves Mary Forever!' emotionally AND sexually.

  17. jesus christ, its 15-20 minutes of the Live Aid performance at the end of the movie (the cut you saw)????? I hope they've edited that down...that would drive me nuts.

  21. Anyone else tired of IMDB allowing fake comments, for instance "A star is born" which is not even out here yet, 10 out of 10 comments by first time posters who all joined September, 2018, it is an insult to the people who worked on the film imo. it also makes folk wonder if the film is worth seeing when these shenanigans take place. You wonder if you can trust IMDB at all. Even Amazon when you comment do not allow you to put it out live.

    Sorry off topic I know.

  22. It is impossible to enjoy a movie knowing the young people who were drugged and raped. i would NEVER EVER watch anything attached to Singer.

  23. Bi erasure is real. If you ask most people, they'd say Freddie was gay. So I think spending time on his relationship with Mary is a good thing. However, if his relationships with men are treated in a negative (shameful, deviant, something he only does when using drugs, etc) that would be problematic. I will look for reviews that address it from that standpoint.

However, based on the trailer, it looks like they went for style (and it is dead on accurate) over substance. Do we get in depth with the characters, or is it just "ooooh, great costumes!" This is my biggest problem with biopics.

Throw Bryan Singer into the mix, and the whole thing is tainted. 85% chance that I'll never see it, but I am still curious to see if it's done well.

  24. Annie, A star is Born premiered at TIFF this month so it’s definitely possible that people posted real reviews.

  25. So, Singer is a furry? That's really unexpected. Even NAMBLA doesn't approve of furries, because they "degrade" the Grecian concept of man-boy love.
