Blind Items Revealed #5

March 8, 2018

This diminutive A+/A list mostly movie actor is the front runner to portray the lead in a new superhero movie. The thing is though, the script calls for the superhero to be killed. The actor wants no part of that and says if he is playing the role, that part of the script needs to be changed.

Tom Cruise/Green Lantern

  1. Imagine seeing little Tommy standing next to Ben Affleck and Jason Momoa in the next Justice League movie.

  2. AJ - he'd be on a box.

  4. I like Cruise but jeez, he doesn’t need to be in everything. Plus I miss stuff like Magnolia and Collateral.

    1. I agree. Magnolia and Collateral are how I like my Tom Cruise.
But I'm not likely to see Green Lantern regardless of who's in it.

  5. Edge of Tomorrow 2? Oblivion 2? If he wants another franchise there are two right there.

  6. Cruise should do a film about an ageing superhero trying to figure out how to deal with a decrease in his superpowers.

Still, you have to hand it to him for sticking around through a fair number of bombs, waiting for the MI franchise to cycle him back to the top again.

I see they no longer bother making up rumors about his love life.

  7. The Oompa Loompa Lantern. There has to be someone better for the role...thousands of someones

  8. I’d watch Knight & Day2
Bring Cammy out of retirement too

  9. So is Abin Sur the lead in this one?

This is gonna bomb so fucking hard.

I wonder if this is the huge super secret script/project Kevin Smith has been hinting at for a couple of weeks, that's he's attached to.

  11. What about if he dies off screen? After running away. From his gay thoughts

  12. That movie would bomb. Tommy is no RDJ. I dunno how people can stomach him, he's so 1-dimensional.

  13. That would have been a mistake for both Cruise and the movie. Good thing it's not happening.

  14. Great group of comments on this one!

Thank you @AJ for the actual laugh out loud at the visual of Tommy Boy with the 6+ Ft crew.

I met Cruise when I was about 14, and was very disappointed I was taller than him.

  15. tom hasn't been hot for years. 'top gun' was his peak for me. i don't know why anyone wants to see him at all anymore.

  16. BWAAAHAHAHAAAA, although I guess he IS the right age to play the old, golden age Green Lantern or the older version of Hal Jordan.

He's also the right height to play the Guardians of the Universe, that created and run the Green Lantern Corp. They're a bunch of alien blue midgets.

Love the leprechaun lantern comment (along with propping him on a box. His power ring can also generate solid energy projections, so it could make magic green shoe lifts, stepladders, etc. for him to be propped up on.

Is he going to try to tie the Green Lantern Corps alien origin into Zenu/Xenu and Scientology???

  18. Green Lantern Oath - Tom Cruise version

"In brightest day, in blackest night,

No evil shall escape my sight.

Let those who mock my diminutive height

Beware my power - Green Lantern's light!"

  19. A 60 year old Green Lantern? Ummm… ok...
I am going to go out on a limb and say - aint going to happen.

  20. Oh come on Tom. You can turn it into your Titanic moment.

  21. And people laughed at Clooney Bale & Kilmer as Batman...this is hilarious.

I say do it so we can be done with Cruise. It will be the superhero version of Battlefield Earth.

    1. Why tho? It makes me so sad.

Everytime I tell people that “Batman & Robin” was the first film I saw in a cinema without parental supervision people just LOL at how “terrible” it supposedly was. I don’t remember much of it TBH, I just wanted to pee the whole time because I had had too much soda with that level of Air-conditioning.

It’s a part of my dark past that I can’t ever erase...

      Life. 🤷🏻‍♀️

  22. Theres a Green Lantern comic when the old GL (Hal Jordan) goes mad and kills a lot of people, and a new GL (John Steward, the Black one, from the Justice League Cartoon) is appointed, and has to kill him.

I would pay $10 to see Idris Elba kick Tom Cruise's ass

  23. @Unknown You clearly don't know much about Kevin Smith.

  25. LOL David R.! I can't see this one.

  26. I'm stuck on the visual of Cruise standing with Momoa and Affleck.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Why would they want the lead in a tent pole movie to be killed? That doesn’t seem likely. Maybe the writer wants it for “artistic” reasons but no one else will be on board.

    ReplyDelete
  28. dear god NO!!! everything is all about him. nothing gels for the 'scenes' he wants set up for him to look manly / emotional / action man. .......he ruined Jack Reacher for me too.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Kevin Smith has said several times that he doesn't think he's appropriate to direct a big superhero film.

And the comics / superhero film fan blogs have picked up this blind and are running with it like crazy.

  30. he died in that hitman movie he did with jamie fox

  31. Tammy Cruise had his day in the 80s and 90s. He could have transitioned into millennial film making had he dropped playing the action hero, but unfortunately he didn't.

  32. He will be Hal Jordan. He'll die and either John Stewart or Kyle Rayner will be the Film GL for Justice League II.
