This B+ list mostly television actor from a very hit television show was fired. It was nice of his employer to call it something else so the actor can try and get his career back on track.
I don't know how it could be Parsons or Lincoln. Both guys were leads on their shows and have to be at least A- at this point, if not A list. B+ sounds more like a supporting actor.
Yes "B+" star Jim Parsons, who has a net worth of about $70 million from the show, is being let go by the "employer" CBS of which he's also the producer of one of their biggest shows with Young Sheldon so he can get his career back on track.
Are you guys all on crack? Is it tin foil hat day?
Most blinds nowadays are taken directly from articles that are floating around about celebrities. I don’t think the blind is Jim Parsons either but it was in the news yesterday that the next season will be the last. I can see why Tricia guessed him and I might’ve guessed him too right off the bat. Let alone she was totally guessing and was not sure. Lay off. No need to be rude because y’all disagree, put another name forward then for the blind.
I agree it sounds like Jim Parsons and Enty maybe intends for it to be him - but if that's the case then I call BS. This was just pulled from the articles saying he's the reason that it's ending.
Jim at least seems like a good guy - he was hilarious in his off broadway show. He's also done work highlighting research for rare diseases in a docu-series about NIH (the doctors that met him for the project seemed to enjoy the experience as well).
Plus he'd probably be happy living off his BBT money and taking small projects. I think this is JP but I don't think it's a real blind.
MD, don't know if i fall into the net of that comment or not but I'm agreeing that it's intended to be Parsons and defending everyone that guessed him. I think he's the best fit which is why I don't have another guess. I just don't believe the blind.
Not sure if that was applicable but just wanted to clarify :)
I don't watch that show. I think I saw about a half an episode of the first season and just noped out. He was playing a sort of socially awkward nerd, they seemed to be college kids or maybe just out of college. Well the guy is 45 now, did they ever grow his character up or is it the same schtick? I doubt the dude is going to be able to do much now that everyone only sees that character when he pops up on screen. Can you imagine his mug popping up in some period piece or drama/action film and the entire theatre laughing and calling out "Sheldon!!!!".
Probably not him though, unless they are dumping the spinoff he produces as well.
Why would anyone guess Jim Parsons? TBBT has been a rotting corpse for at least 5 seasons. Like most Chuck Lorre shows it stayed on well beyond its shelf life.
HeatherBee, that's an interesting guess. My friend chatted with him at a Robyn Hitchcock show a couple of months ago (he's touring as RH's drummer) and he is still SUPER bitter about Supernatural. I miss him on the show - it often gets too melodramatic and he brought a great lightness to it. Season 12 was one of my favorites ever, mostly because of him (and Rowena).
The only news I can find from the last two days relating to anything in this blind, remotely, is that Supergirl on CW is replacing Brent Spiner. I wouldn't call it a "very hit show" but maybe it is for The CW, relatively. (It was not a standout on CBS)
The first season of TBBT had some good jokes and observations about what it's like to be or live/work with super-smart people. But by the end of that season, three of the four guys, all socially awkward nerds, had slept with about as many women between them as Thomas Magnum did in eight seasons. So it was a Hollywood caricature of what smart nerds are like; and from clips I've seen, it looks like it got more ridiculous from there.
This blind doesn't even make sense. How is firing a mostly-television somebody off a "very hit" (considering Entoid's hit-detecting abilities, I presume that means it gets about 500,000 viewers) television show helping an actor "try and get his career back on track"?
Did the person who wrote this mean "get his life back on track"?
If it is Mark Sheppard, that was one hell of a ruse. Especially the Jim Michaels tweets. Seems a bit ott even for the spn pr team.
The scenes with Rowena in S12 were great, I'll admit. But deleting his last line in the finale was a big FU to him.
I'd be bitter, too, if I had developed a character(for 8 seasons)that was important to the balance of the show only to have it retconned intentionally by the showrunner over office politics. Mark has always had integrity and was very professional. Maybe that the problem...? He didn't pander to toxic fans. Or toxic showrunners.
What were the politics? Sheppard is fantastic on that show and always seemed professional to me. I am not a regular watcher (stopped because couldn't stand it when every episode was 90% some "Darkness" person I thought couldn't act for toffee) but I would always stop and watch if Sheppard or "Rowena" was on; I thought they were both really good at the "serious" stuff and the banter.
@Count Jerkula, what do you do now that backpage is gone? The only reason I knew what that was when the news about it showed up was from things you said years ago.
Mark Sheppard is gone from Supernatural? I stopped watching about the time the show became just a promotion for the cons, which is where the actors make their real money. Crowley was a classic, it's like losing Jim Beaver and Rachel Miner all over again.
Wait, that weird looking guy is named Jim Parsons? I never knew his name, it sounds so normal.
Could be one of the other actors from BBT but the network is talking about Parsons instead to get the pressure off the other actor. Johnny Galecki looks kinda bloated and sweaty lately. Maybe he's got a drinking problem.
But this sounds more like somebody leaving a show that's staying on, not a show announced to be ending altogether.
Wow ...btw hiv in men was spread because of tearing in the anal area causing direct body fluid contact ..not directly cause they sleep around ..so glad to see you take an interest in your own personal battle with hiv though ..you hang in there
Artie Lange and Mark Sheppard guesses sound very plausible; with Artie's substance issues and Mark's disdain over the direction Supernatual had been taking.
Jim Parsons has been EXCELLENT in every movie I've seen him in. He should spend more time acting like that and less time like a trained monkey on the ever-painful BBT - I can't watch that dumbass show. Jim Parsons deserves better, especially after ten successful years.
My earlier guess was wrong because "very hit television show" is not how anything on The CW would be described ("almost television"). It's not Artie Lange ("pay cable") or Mark Sheppard either. Pete Davidson has not been publicly let go from SNL. Jim Parsons is A-list & was not dismissed from BBT, that show is ending and probably in no small part on the behest of CBS network mascot Parsons.
It's gotta be ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX, the actor can't be super-prominent, and the show in question is probably continuing onward. Given how many of us have dug into this, I don't think it was in the trades over the past few days.
I have a friend who's a talent wrangler. Jim Parsons is earning an A-list salary, but he is (unfortunately) a B+ celebrity. This is why. We have to understand that Hollywood's main consumer continues to be 14-18 year old males from middle America. And that demographic still enjoys watching movies from straight males in stereotypical heterosexual roles. Jim Parsons is an openly gay man & will never reach A status because he doesn't fit the profile. Notice how there are no LGBT members of the A list club. There's a reason for that. The two gay men that made A list status in Hollywood history were Rock Hudson & Kevin Spacey - and they were both closeted until their careers ended. That's not a coincidence. There is still a lot of homophobia in Hollywood. Don't let this industry's new "diversity" push fool you.
Jim Parsons?
ReplyDeleteSaying it’s the last season of BBT because he feels it’s time to walk away....
DeleteThis can't possibly be Jim Parsons from The Big Bang Theory... can it?
ReplyDeleteNot Jim Parsons??
ReplyDeleteAndrew Lincoln?
ReplyDeleteI don't see how this is Jim Parsons. He's one of the highest paid people on TV. How is that not on track?
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's Parsons... his career basically is BBT, so it will be off track now that it's ending.
ReplyDeleteHe's been quite a success on Broadway. He'll be fine.
DeleteParsons is A list, and I don't know any reason to fire him.
ReplyDeleteplease don't ruin Jim Parsons for me.
ReplyDeleteI hope it’s not Jim Parsons as I am a fan ... also he’s done Broadway and film so has a body of work outside BBT
ReplyDeleteActually,+1 to Swinfa, the rating is right, he said he needs more time with family.
ReplyDeleteHow many choices out there and you all group think Jim Parsons? The show is old and stale and everyone had babies and it’s time to end.
ReplyDeletePut your thinking caps on and think of someone else.
So throw out the many other choices then. I’ll wait.
DeleteI hope Penny's butt gets a new show soon.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how it could be Parsons or Lincoln. Both guys were leads on their shows and have to be at least A- at this point, if not A list. B+ sounds more like a supporting actor.

Hahahahaha. Want to throw out a guess instead of complaining about others. FOH
DeleteOn the same plane MD🙌🏻

ReplyDeleteartie lange?
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna grab my popcorn and pull up a chair next to @MDAnderson.
ReplyDeleteSeriously-- it *may not* be Parsons. I'd love it if it weren't Jim Parsons.
You think you know better? Show us. Throw out a name instead of scoffing at us who take the guesses.
LMAO. I can take the political talk and I can take plot(JUST KIDDING), but don’t belittle people and then not guess.
DeleteWhat would Jim Parsons have been fired for?
ReplyDeleteParson's leaves, that show dies. But networks have been stupid like this before.
ReplyDeleteI agree it sounds like Jim Parsons and Enty maybe intends for it to be him - but if that's the case then I call BS. This was just pulled from the articles saying he's the reason that it's ending.

Mark Sheppard- Supernatural?
ReplyDeleteI would not call Parsons B+, or Andrew Lincoln for that matter. I have no idea who this might be otherwise.
ReplyDeleteNever watched a single episode of BBT, am i missing out on something?
ReplyDeleteMD, don't know if i fall into the net of that comment or not but I'm agreeing that it's intended to be Parsons and defending everyone that guessed him. I think he's the best fit which is why I don't have another guess. I just don't believe the blind.

Absolutely NO way. You have never been rude or belittle anyone’s guess. You are always contributing to CDAN.
Delete+1 to MD

ReplyDeletethank you! Just wanted to check - I've noticed there have been a lot of miscommunications that got out of hand in the comments :)
ReplyDeleteHeatherBee, that's an interesting guess. ReplyDeleteWeird how that 'rotting corpse' of a show continues to be one of the most popular shows on television. Go back to reddit.
ReplyDelete@longtimereader
ReplyDeleteNo. It's misogynistic crap wrapped up in the "safe" veneer of nerds being nerds.
The only news I can find from the last two days relating to anything in this blind, remotely, is that Supergirl on CW is replacing Brent Spiner. I wouldn't call it a "very hit show" but maybe it is for The CW, relatively. (It was not a standout on CBS)
ReplyDeleteYou can't mean Brent Spiner, @Brian Van. He's not a regular on there, I think.
ReplyDeleteIts the guy who plays Crowley on Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea Supernatural fired Mark Sheppard. There goes my surprise when I binge this winter, I suppose.
ReplyDeleteThat's not a bad guess.
The first season of TBBT had some good jokes and observations about what it's like to be or live/work with super-smart people. ReplyDeleteDid Pete Davidson get fired?
ReplyDeleteMaybe Jim Parsons is just B+ because if you dont watch BBT (like me) you.ve never heard of him.
ReplyDeletePerhaps to be A list you really need to be a name every knows.
This blind doesn't even make sense. How is firing a mostly-television somebody off a "very hit" (considering Entoid's hit-detecting abilities, I presume that means it gets about 500,000 viewers) television show helping an actor "try and get his career back on track"?

"Even when I lose I win"

Now, Parsons is HIV positive. He'd better keep his little sheldon inside his pants! Has he been naughty? Gays can't help themselves.
ReplyDeleteWow ...btw hiv in men was spread because of tearing in the anal area causing direct body fluid contact ..not directly cause they sleep around ..so glad to see you take an interest in your own personal battle with hiv though ..you hang in there
Delete@Stupidpervers
ReplyDeleteWhen gays sleep around they usually do a lot of anal tearing, genius!
I don't think anything to ever air on the CW counts as a 'very hit' show.
ReplyDeleteYou’re slipping, people!!!! Did I miss a reader comment? Surely someone here can link this to a secret political pedo ring.

ReplyDeleteParsons and Andrew are no B+

Hopefully we get a reveal!
Luke Null was dismissed from SNL, but no reason was given. He's C+ at best though. I watch and didn't even recognize his picture.
ReplyDeleteThen good for Mark! Those conventions must be absolute hell, the way I see it, and I wish more actors were honest about that.
