DeleteAppears Enty does not like hardwick. All i know is the ex made some specific claims and then hardwick produced texts where she begged him to get back together with her. She offered no proof of her allegations either so i think benefit of the doubt was the right call.

DeleteI am still no wiser from all the above comments as to what a bot army is. I have to conclude no-one knows, so why use the expression.
ReplyDeleteAnnie people either buy their followers or have them created for them. Do you know that most businesses use bots to do their live online "chats"? They have names and can answer your questions. I'm sure there are bots on every social media site answering for the people who bought them.
ReplyDeleteIt's a computer program that simulates human interaction, Annie. It responds in a set way to a number of keywords that real people use when interacting. As Sandybrook said, most of the time when you do a live online chat with a company, it's a bot, not a human. Because if you think about it, most company online chats are going to be "Where's order 456384?" Or similar.
ReplyDeleteannie, I'm not sure how they technically function but they're essentially "fake users". If you look online there's plenty of software that people play around with to write things autonomously using a predictive text algorithm.
ReplyDeleteAnyone with a public instagram will get followed by accounts promising to give them thousands of followers if they pay up. These followers aren't real people they're fake bot accounts that are programmed to post basic comments on social media to make the person seem more popular then they are.
Publicists also use bots to attack competition and post a bunch of negative comments on posts to create the hive mind so that real people go with the flow and have a negative sentiment about the post as well.
Technology today really toes the line between fascinating and terrifying.
Thank you for the replies, I talk to bots when reporting electric/gas problems then. But how do bots work on here. Is it set up by Enty because otherwise I would think you have to set up individual e mail addresses IP`s, which would be a time consuming thing.

ReplyDeleteYou cannot dox viewers who stay away because of a feeling of distaste, so I am not sure what is achieved in the end apart from a ratings drop.
ReplyDeleteA botnet ("bot army" is just a sexier name) is a group of computers working together on some automated set of tasks. Usually we're talking about computers that have been exploited and are running the tasks without their owners' knowledge, because using other people's computers is a lot cheaper than owning thousands of your own. Gives you better network coverage too.
ReplyDeleteSo let's say your computer gets a virus planted by a botnet. The virus goes out to some system and downloads a task to run, executes it, reports back if necessary, gets the next task, and repeat. It is now part of a botnet. The task could be anything: mining bitcoin, trying to crack other systems to bring them into the botnet, creating social media accounts and posting/liking things, posting links to blog comments, etc.
Some of what gets blamed on botnets now is simple outsourcing. You can rent rooms full of people in the third world *real* cheap to sit and do simple online tasks like completing captchas and posting comments. Their English may not be great and they may not really understand what they're doing, but they can still outperform AI in many ways, especially for the price. Sometimes the two are combined, the way telemarketers use war-dialers to call you and see if a human answers and stays on the line before connecting you to a person.
If I wanted to doxx someone with a botnet, I suppose I'd set it up to post their personal info to places where it could be harmful. A botnet wouldn't be much use in researching them to get the info in the first place; that's easy. But you could use it (or outsourcing) to broadcast personal stuff, especially anything embarrassing, far and wide faster than it could be cleaned up.
Here on CDaN we only know about the shill army paid to defend Pedos Dan and Gunn.

ReplyDeleteBots can use the contacts stored on a compromised computer to sign up for social media accounts, which is part of the reason most social media sites insist on a mobile number now.
ReplyDeleteBots are also capable of searching for keywords and can be manipulated and outed that way, by using erroneous keywords that are irrelevant to the actual post. For instance, if you were to make a post about what you had for breakfast today, then tag it #chinasucks, you might get a flood of posts saying "China is a beautiful country, lower crime than America! #chinaisgreat"

This blind is basically your uncle trying to be hip and write about the Internet with words he barely understands. Even CSI: Cyber didn't have that much technobabble. It makes it nearly impossible to determine whether the guy who wrote this misunderstood what he was explained or if he just created this blind with some kind of fancy words to make it look more convincing.
