Blind Items Revealed #5

March 6, 2018

There are many reasons being floated for the push of the massively major action adventure fantasy movie from That movie company. One that is not being discussed is closer to the truth. Yes it was moved because of the foul mouthed movie and the solitary hero movie. Yes, it avoids the problems with the fans and online spoilers but those haven't bothered That movie company before. Three of its actors have fires that can't be held off forever. Two are set to leave after this movie. The third still has movies on his contract. Push the movie and contain the fires. Then let all three out at the same time and hope the third one is lost in the noise over one and two. It has worked before. One was even in on the promotion of the pushing of the date!

Massively major action adventure fantasy: "Avengers: Infinity War" (Robert Downey Jr.)
Foul mouthed movie: "Deadpool 2"
Solitary hero movie: "Rampage"
Two actors set to leave after movie: Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans
Actor with movies on his contract: Chris Hemsworth

  1. I dream of a future when Hollywood is no longer focusing on comic books written for twelve-year-olds of all ages.

    1. You sound like you're fun at parties

    2. @pokey I agree!

    3. I absolutely love superhero movies.. I rather dream of a future where 75 year old men like Schwarzenegger and Stallone aren't pretending they could possibly be (realistic) badasses.

    4. Pokey, they’re made for low IQ people who are easily sucked into corporate propaganda entertainment. Katie if you talk about Marvel movies at group events, those aren’t really parties. Low key, calling people precious makes you sound like a southern pedo. And Rose, is there really a difference?

  2. Still doesn't explain how moving the movie a week earlier would make any difference to the supposed scandals, particularly when all three guys are in the sequel next year anyway.

  3. so all three - RDJ, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth have 'fires'/scandals brewing.

Im curious to know what RDJ's is. He seems really set on the whole 'reformed, born-again star' look, curious to know what would be big enough fire to really be bad.

Im guessing Chris Evans being bi and having quite the sex kinks is the thing.

Chris Hemsworth? I cant think of anything besides cheating.

  4. I'm with pokey. It seems as if all that is made is a superhero/comic book type movie.

  5. Are the fires scandals? Or just personal issues?

  6. What fires, exactly? And isn't "solitary hero movie" meant to be SOLO, not RAMPAGE?

It's been a long time coming for us nerds who put up with bad movies or no comic movies for years. This phase will pass (much like Westerns) so we're enjoying it while we can. Let us have our fun. At least the Marvel ones are good.

  8. I agree with Rosie. I'm a massive comic book movie fan (and a comic book fan in general) so I love this whole wave of comic books films coming out. Clearly you're in the minority Hokey Pokey, because these films generally are extremely successful and most people who see them really enjoy them.

  9. Even if this was true, all 3 survived the movie, so Disney has been well-aware of being tied to them for another year. This blind was written with the previously assumed notion that Downey & Evans would be killed off.

I don’t doubt that all 3 have scandals, but the logic used here doesn’t justify the outcome

  10. If I wanted to see comic book characters I'd buy a fucking comic book... movie theaters are DEAD unless you live in perpetual childhood fantasy land

  11. I've enjoyed a few Marvel movies. But fuck, can't our culture tell any other stories?

Every goddam time Iron Man crashes to the ground at a few hundred miles per hour and dusts himself off... every time we're expected to believe some kung fu chick and some guy with a bow and some countable set of arrows can do battle with gods...

I'd like to think twenty years from now people will look back and say "what were we thinking?"

P.S.: These people acting like a superhero acting contract is some kind of albatross (and I'll toss Daniel Craig in here)... give me a fucking break.

  12. Yeah, the superhero movies are generally awful and it's all we are offered anymore. Guess they play well in China - the real audience the studios want.

  13. WOW tHere's a grown up in the group....maybe a couple....totaji....totally agree with you. Trump makes it fashionable to be an idiot these days.

  14. Do we still think RDJ is a Himmm? I checked out for a few years and still haven't caught up.

  15. Just wow at the online keyboard tough guys (girls). SMH. I am 52, a mom, and a grandmother, a wife of a military veteran with PTSD and late onset epilepsy. I have 2 degrees, and work in the IT field. My IQ has always been above normal. And I have always been a voracious reader.
I happen to love the Captain America, Iron Man, Avengers and even Justice League movies. I think they have many good story lines, in fact just spent the weekend watching Captain American and the 2nd one with my 6 and 7 year old grandkids. They loved them. SO just STFU because you do not like something, many others do. It is so typical of this hate generation, especially those that have to tie EVERYTHING they hate with politics.
I am far from being an "idiot" but man I am so sick of living in this world anymore with the entitled and those that think ONLY they are smart and gifted and entitled because they believe a certain way, and anyone that differs from them are wrong. I said the other day, I am really sad of the future my grandkids are being given, and so glad that I am in the last 1/4 or so of my life here.

  16. @Thorne

No one with a bit of sense ever believed that in the first place. There is a guy in Southern Virginia making up stories in his effigy though, as well as other big named stars.

    @Truth

One thing you have to admit is that different people have different levels of expertise in different subjects. We can agree on that, right?

I wouldn't presume to know anything about the IT world, so I accept when those around me say that Vaaden is under-appreciated and Python is mediocre. I see the results but cannot possibly understand what IT folks are talking about. That's life. Same with cars or Romantic poetry, they are outside my ken so I have to trust others opinions.

Now, why does criticism of movie narratives hit people so hard? There have been better scripts then what we are seeing with these superhero movies, which are rather insipid story-wise. The US movie industry, which once was of great cultural benefit, has become a CGI nightmare attacking viewers in their seats. The audio quality of movies is now so so bad that it doesn't matter what the dialogue is as long as the crashes and explosions are LOUD!

But when criticized for these things, people like you become enraged as though we are criticizing peoples' mommies. I don't get that. Films are to be discussed, at least they used to be. I can spell out why I think Godfather II is a much worse film than Godfather I, though it's an extremely unpopular opinion. No one hates me for it either. But why do superhero fans cling to their taste in films with so much ardor?

It's not nice being called an idiot. I get that part. But being called such on the Internet is so pervasive, why take it personally? No one thinks you are an idiot, trust me. But some of us have avoided going to new movies for years now because they've become so intellectually barren and don't spark even mild curiosity (this extends beyond superheros, btw.) Again, this is not to call you or anyone else unintellectual. Movies are supposed to be fun. So have fun. Some of us would just like a different type of movie to grab our fun.

  17. A quick look at Box Office Mojo says out of the top 37 movies this week, 5 are superhero movies. If you can't find something you like in the other 32 movies, that's not superhero movies' fault.

  18. How is Rampage a "hero" movie?

  20. RDJ's got a big scandal about to pop, all right. You might not know this, but apparently he's been leaking information online at a celebrity gossip blog. In nearly every article he posts "Amazing Quotes!"
