This street artist who likes to hide his anonymity but seems to end up on every LA based reality show anyway, hooks up with seemingly a new Instagram model each day. He always tries to give them a print of one of his works instead of cash and tells the women it is worth much more (it isn't).
Mr. Brainwash

these ig girls haven’t lived til they’ve watched exit from the gift shop
ReplyDeleteHe's fug and his work is weak. These IG "models" can do better.
ReplyDeleteA few years ago I walked past a ritzy art gallery in SoHo and saw a painting n the window which I really liked. It had a huge price tag attached to it. Went into the gallery and spoke to the well-dressed young man about the print. I thought it was a Banksy. He said it was not his but a man named Mr. Brainwash. It was a slow day so he had time to chat. He had a gallery full of noted artists. We talked about out mutual love of Basquiat. We both had stories of personal sightings. I kept coming back to Banksy. He was very cagey and measured his words carefully. Bottom line: Banksy doesn't create all of his art. There are numerous people working with him who do the work and Banksy gets all the credit. Reminds me of Andy Warhol. But you all know THAT story, right?
ReplyDelete@Boo Hearne
DeleteI don't know that story.
Warhol was before my time so I know a few stories.
Sounds like they need pimps to look after them.
ReplyDeleteI met him in LA. Dude is thirst AF, and was trying to get me and my friend to leave the gallery with him. Nope.
ReplyDeleteDid they really think a street artist was going to hook them up?
ReplyDeleteI love this TMZ video of the guy who did the Obama Hope posters and his wife busts him for not going out and putting up his own art. Kills his credibility. He seems like a dick and looked like he wanted to tape her mouth shut.

He’s like a wanna be Warhol/Banksy knockoff

ReplyDeleteThis is VERY common in the art world. In fact, when it's established name artists with a lot of output, it's close to being the default.
I have no clue who anyone is in today's reveals. Shouldn't rant because of that but fuck, this is a boring morning.
ReplyDeleteCJ-So true. Orangesoda-Enty went way beyond yesterday when he posted tons and tons and tons of reveals for us. We may have a couple of 'boring' days until he recuperates.
ReplyDeleteAnyone remember that great scene in Basquiat when Jean-Michel meets Andy Warhol & art dealer Bruno Bischofberger at the SoHo bistro and tries to sell Andy his postcards? He hands Andy the small drawings (worth a f-ing fortune today) and Andy shows them to Bruno. Bruno loves them. Andy balks at the asking price, I think $10 a piece, and says he didn't spend a lot of time drawing them, to which Jean-Michel replies, (angry) "You don't even do your own work!" Everyone in the tiny theater in San Francisco screamed, "Snap!" Laughter ensued for quite a while. It was the private showing for the film. I won't tell you what I had to do to get a ticket!
