Blind Items Revealed #3 - An Old Hollywood Harvey Blind - Mr. X

April 11, 2018

___________ was Old Hollywood Harvey's right hand. She picked out young MGM starlets for Harvey to assault. She was also the assistant to this permanent A++ list mostly movie actress, and took advantage of her sexually when the A++ lister was under the influence of uppers and downers. The assistant also arranged for this A+ list actress/pinup to secretly have a back alley abortion after the actress/pinup became pregnant with Harvey's baby, which he didn't know about till much later. The assistant told Harvey a false story so he wouldn't fire her, that the baby's father was actually closeted heartthrob ______________, whom the actress/pinup was being linked to at the time. The assistant also played this game when the A++ lister was pregnant with _________'s baby, she told Harvey that the closeted heartthrob was again the father. When the closeted heartthrob's longtime boyfriend ___________ was relayed this info by the confused heartthrob he tried to confront Harvey and the assistant but was turned away at the studio's front gates by Harvey's instruction. The assistant  also befriended this A- list mostly movie actress when she was at the start of her relationship with this permanent A++ list singer/actor, and sure enough the A- lister was a victim of Harvey as well. The singer/actor threatened to kill Harvey after the A- lister told him, but Harvey eventually had the actor/singer fired from the studio (and for a short time had him blackballed) even though had just made two hit movies (1)___________________ and (2) ____________________.

  1. Ava Gardner only an A-? Seriously?

  2. His Wikipedia says he was regarded as a "fixer" who may have murdered George Reeves for hurting his wife. She seems more like the fixer here, but Sinatra not killing him seems to make it look like the guy did have rumored mob connections, because Frank sure did.

  3. Also the Cohen Bros. film Hail Caesar! starring Josh Brolin was based on his life. I never saw it , i hope it was not a positive depction

  4. "I wish someone would hurt you real bad, so I could have them killed for you." -- Frank Sinatra to Shirley MacLaine, according to one of her autobiographies, can't remember which one.

  5. Frank had mob connections but Eddie had mob and police department connections. Guess who you bet on?

By the way Eddie didn't fire Frank from MGM or blackball him. Frank made an insulting joke about Louis B Mayer's mistress.

  7. a significant amount of this stuff is actually covered in Hail Caesar which IMO is a better movie than it is made out to be...

  8. "Hail Caesar" is one of the Coen Bros. worst movies but it's still pretty okay. The scene where the Mannix character meets with the three religious figures is very funny.

Film ends quickly and flatly, however, like there were reshoots or somebody decided it wasn't really working and cut the last 25 pages of the script in half.

Coen Bros. are rare auteurs left on the scene, though considering what we've learned about many auteurs throughout history, that might not be such a terrific thing.

  10. Thanks for the assist, Unknown. I read the book 'The Fixers' about Eddie Mannix and his co-hort (can't remember his name). It was filled with Old HWood gossip, but I certainly didn't get the idea that Mannix was such a monster. This was a few years back, folks now gettin' woke.

Is it any wonder then how this cast of Hollywood detritus would be so interested in the script that chronicled this monster?

    Josh Brolin
    George Clooney
    Ralph Fiennes
    Scarlett Johansson
    Tilda Swinton
    Channing Tatum
    Frances McDormand
    Jonah Hill

Ava an A- star? In fact, at the start of her relationship with Frank, she was the bigger star. And it was because of her that he got the role that literally altered his career and life (Maggio in From Here to Eternity). That's why he always felt indebted to her despite their volatile marriage.
