Blind Item #8

This foreign born A/A- list director all of you know, or at least all of you know his work has been accused as of late of some very bad behavior towards women, up to and including sexual assault. Apparently when one of my friends who has been in one of his movies confronted him about the way he made her land a part in one of his movies, but not in a pseudo sequel to it he told her it was because he could tell she wasn't trying in bed and that maybe she should fight more. He then tried to sexually assault her. I mean this is after the allegations against him so I guess he doesn't care.

  2. If a woman sells herself to a powerful man, then comes back at him, alone, unescorted yes, she is very likely to be assaulted. What was she thinking ?

  4. So they had sex, and she got one part, but she didn't get another part, and she went to talk with him about why? Or did she try to casting-couch her way to both parts, the second one unsuccessfully?

  6. I’m reposting my comments from one of the reveals yesterday to see if anyone else has a better explanation for what I saw:

I like this reveal, but I noticed something that bolsters a theory about some of these reveals- that they are written to be potentially about more than one situation or group of people. When I read this reveal in my rss reader (yes I’m old and still use one) it shows a competent different reveal than is shown when I click into the web version. Very weird, right?
I just checked to see if there were any more comments here yet and I noticed that the ‘error’ had already been corrected. I re-edited the original screenshots to include the time and took an additional screenshot of the correction. It’s a little strange that it was corrected so quickly based on a random comment by a complete nobody...

      What was the comment?
And I do think that some blinds are vague enough to cover multiple scenarios.

  8. She didn’t pretend to enjoy the 2nd rape good enough
And she calls herself an actress?!

  9. You don't have to be an actress to be sexually harassed. London again. 1969. Working for independent news company. An attractive young foreign bad boy (along the lines of Cohn Bendit) was making waves all over the Continent. Mentioned to my boss I'd like to interview him. He called the guy, mentioned I had spent a year in Cuba before coming to London, and the guy couldn't wait to meet me. Took a taxi to his home. He greets me warmly. I started interviewing and photographing him. Noticed women's clothes lying on a bed. Turned out it wasn't HIS home, it was HERS. She was a teacher and at work. Convenient. As I was rapping up the interview I asked for one last shot. He posed in front of a large poster of Trotsky. He grabbed my arm as I started to leave and said he wanted to give me something to remember him by. He started pushing me toward a bedroom. I told him I had to get back to the office. I was on a deadline with the story. He became sullen and pushed me toward the front door and more or less kicked me out on to the steps. Didn't say a word to my boss. 2008. NYC. Look up at CNN in the lunch room and there he is. Older but still attractive. Found his email and sent a message reminding him about our interview in London. His reply? "Never heard of you. Don't remember you ever interviewing me. That means we didn't f---. I would have remembered that!" Once an asshole, always an asshole. And this man is highly respected on the Left.

  11. It would be nice to see kindness blinds about good directors, lately it seems like for most their main role is abusing the cast and crew.

  12. @easypeasy -- That's so sad that it could pertain to so many people. And weird. Thanks for taking the time to edit screenshots.

Bjork implied Von Trier harassed her, and his producer was outright called out. I think its someone who was in Dogville but not in its "sequel" Manderlay.

It doesn't really sound like Nicole though. Is she friends with Enty?
      Maybe a bit performer...

  15. I think a lot of people go to Hollywood *thinking* they know the score: I'll sleep with a casting director or two, get a part, bang the producer, get a bigger part, and then I'll be a star and put that behind me. It'll be worth it.

It turns out the equation is much different: sleeping with multiple producers and directors and perhaps their friends and people they owe favors to, to get and keep parts. It's not the trading-sex-for-fame that they object to; it's that the sex buys so little fame -- and it buys less each year you get older. Also the rudeness, that the people they're having sex with don't pretend it's romance, or anything but what it is.

Of course, this is completely separate from the cases of actual rape -- the rape-rape, as Whoopi would call it.

  17. Maybe this is a little extreme, but I say cut off their balls! If we start cutting off balls when guys start getting all rapey and molesty, they’d probably stop. Just sayin

  19. That is super weird Easy_Peasy and weirder yet that nobody's much talked about it.

Not so weird but tragic is that both the answers, though completely different, are probably true.

  21. I remembered that there was a way to "view changes" to stories in my RSS reader, so I've added a screen cap of that to show that the post was edited at some point. Unfortunately there's no way to see the time that the edit occurred.

I am a bit surprised that people aren't more interested in this given the parties involved. If anyone has ideas of how to get this a bit more visibility, I'm all ears. Also feel free to repost anywhere you see fit.

  22. Sorry Enty, if she is a friend, your writing does not make her look good in this story.

  23. Boo - Wolf Blitzer? He's old enough, looks like he spent time overseas in that time-frame. But Wolf had been on CNN since at least the 1st Gulf War, so his appearance on CNN in 2008 wouldn't come as a shock, so...?

Anyway, Wolf would be no big loss. None of them would be. Out with the trash.

  24. Boo: Thanks! IIRC Tariq Ali has a reputation as an asshole.

  25. @Easy Peasey, why are you making such a big deal about this? They both are most likely true, but Enty went with the safer option since messing with Geffen is most likely not a good idea. Or, a mistake was made and one of the answers wasn't meant for that blind. Simple as that.
