Blind Item #4 - A Dancing Boy Blind Item

Which A+ list sports superstar about to be inducted into a major hall of fame, is now doing the celebrity funeral circuit? Let's just say: there was a fight, during which he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. How do I know? Because in February, my niece's father - a trainer to players of this one sport - died suddenly. The older brother was a player himself, on the same team - that's how they all met. He's my niece's godfather.

  4. Wrong place and time sounds like Ray Lewis and the murder he was involved in.

  5. Both Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher have brothers who played football. That’s all I got

  6. Maybe I'm just dense, but I don't see why this is a blind.

  7. Was Ray Lewis at Aaron Feis Parkland shooting funeral? Could be seen as trying to make a name for himself as a preacher or public speaker.

  8. Ray did speak at Steve McNair and Art Modell funerals.

  9. If Enty put an AR-15 to my head I couldn't answer ANY sports blinds. The only sports-related thing I ever did was sleep with Wilt Chamberlain back in the summer of '67. Yes, my name is on the Wilt Chamberlain Wall! I laughed when I read about Pete Davidson's 10 inches last week. Ten? How about 20?!!! Yes, Wilt was the man! IN EVERY WAY!

  10. MDAnderson: I know! And he told me I was the only one! LOL! Somewhere just outside of D.C. in a leafy suburb, there is a beautiful 40-something fixing lunch for her adorable daughter and trying to read today's CDAN to see if her mom broke her promise NOT to comment again. That tremor you just felt was her finding out her mom did Wilt! I never told her! Believe me, she has a whole new respect for old mom! Sorry, honey. Now you know. Mom was a cute piece of a-- in the 60s.

  11. I think the older brother is of the deceased father, not the godfather.

  12. Ray Lewis is being inducted into the NFL HOF and he was definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time 20 years ago. Not sure if that's what the blind is about. I'm confused.

  14. Briefly, I had hope that a very short Dancing Boy blind would be more comprehensible and interesting than usual....

  15. MDAnderson: Throughout his life this number went up and down and sideways. He was not only handsome but articulate and quite the businessman. He was buying apartments and stores in California in the 50s! He was a rabid Nixon Republican to the end. We met one night at one of his clubs (Small's Paradise) in Harlem. Tommy Small, the original owner and famous DJ, was a friend of mine from Atlanta. I was 100 lbs. at the time and 5 feet tall. Wilt was 7-something? We hit it off because we talked politics all night at the table with Tommy and Wilt said he hadn't dated someone who cared about politics. We went out quite a few times before I returned to Atlanta. I was a Kennedy Democrat so you can imagine the 'spirited' discussions we had. And, to make matters even worse, I didn't smoke pot or do drugs. Wilt continued the friendship long-distance until Dr. King was killed. After Bobby died, too, I left the States for a long, long time. Never saw him again. He never did marry and, to my knowledge, never acknowledged having children. I really enjoyed talking with him a lot. And, as an aside, he had a man who worked for him at his Harlem condo whose only job was to roll the best joints in town. I don't doubt he slept with thousands of gals. Proud to have my name on the wall!

    1. I always felt he was FOS and just trying to sell his book but you never know with these athletes.

  18. Well, if Dancing Boy is still writing blinds, it means he's not dead in a gutter somewhere. So that's good.

Otherwise, I have no other comments to contribute. No guesses, and I've never had sex with an athlete, or anyone famous for that matter.
But carry on. The side conversations are always fun to read.

  19. I've read that story from you before, Boo, and I loved it more today than I did before!

And it's about goddamned time for Jerry Kramer to inducted in the HoF. He is the last of the Packers Ice Bowl players to be inducted, I believe.

  20. Great story, Boo, thanks so much for sharing your wonderful story.

And, yes, Kramer's nomination is long overdue.

  21. Randy Moss acted like a total douche when he played, but Ray Lewis' name will always stand out when mentioning this sort of thing.

  22. Boo, your story was better than the blind! I got nothing, not a sports follower.
