This former A+ list rapper went as far publicly as he as ever gone in his own statements about his sexuality. Unlike others close to him, he won't allow himself to be controlled.
“I saw the Alexander McQueen documentary and I connected with his journey. I know how it feels to want to take your life back into your own hands even if it means taking your own life.” Kanye
@EB Wow. That may not be a statement about sexuality but it is a bold statement nonetheless. I honestly don't care about Kanye except that he is a human after all. I hope he is able to take back his life, hopefully without *taking it*.
Right Sara. McQueen killed himself after his mom died. That's what KW is talking about. I feel sorry for both of them. He should focus on his kids and not that wife.
Tyler The Creator had several Billboard number one or two albums, which would make him A list, and he's open about being bi-more gay. I think here it's Kanye West.
Kanye has an great eye and ear for what is going to resonate culturally, and is talented at using iconography, recycled and repackaged, to create art, but he doesn't have the innate creativity and talent Lee McQueen had under his pinkie fingernail.
Kanye isn't my cup of tea, though I do appreciate many rappers in general. His wall of sounds works my last nerve (but I thought Black Skinhead was fantastic.)
I kinda agree with your assessment there but also respect the opinions of others who say he's a genius. Who knows. Maybe someday I'll be listening to some Kanye and *magic* I'll hear whatever his fans hear. Honestly, I haven't had that moment with Kendrick Lamar either, and I'm waiting.
McQueen was a come-out-of-no-where genius though, whose work kept building and growing. It sucks that he's gone, from a purely selfish standpoint.
People say he’s a genius because he continuously calls himself that and people started following. No one would be calling him a genius if he didn’t constantly rave aboit being one. His fans took it and ran with it then the media who loved to kiss his ass did
Kanye’s mom made sure he took his meds & took care of himself. Sadly, I don’t think he has anyone with his best interests at heart, in his inner circle.
kanye?
ReplyDeleteKanye and his comments about Alexander McQueen
ReplyDeleteHe’ll blow the lid on the Ktrash eventually
DeleteGood morning!
ReplyDeleteKanye.....PMK got nuthin on me!
Hmmm I read Kanye’s tweet as he was relating to McQueen’s depression.
ReplyDeleteRight? If anything it read like Kanye is suicidal.
DeleteWhat did he tweet? I don't look at Twitter.....

DeleteThanks, EB.
ReplyDeletethat sounds more like its about fame and losing creative control as an artist to the corporate demands of the market
ReplyDeleteAgree. It could easily be read that K feels he did take his life back. Open to interpretation.
DeleteKartrashians would probably lead most people to consider any way out. Although not a favorite of mine, I hope Kanye is okay.
ReplyDeleteWhat does that statement have to do with sexuality?
ReplyDeleteNot seeing it.
Although maybe this isn’t about Kanye...the BI say “former A+ list rapper”. Former?
ReplyDeleteNot the biggest fan of post Kim Kanye but I’m not seeing this as coming to terms with his sexuality.
ReplyDeleteme too @EB more about depression than anything else.
ReplyDelete"McQueen killed himself after his mom died. That's what KW is talking about"
ReplyDeleteHadn't thought of that. Interesting connection. Kanye spiraling mental illness started when LaDonda died.

ReplyDeleteSounds like a suicide threat to me.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Me Again, it sounds ominous.
DeleteNot seeing a gay link. Seems like a guy that struggles with mental health relating to someone else that struggled with mental health.
ReplyDeleteHope he's okay.
@just sayin'

ReplyDeleteI can sympathize with Kanye He has the worst mother in law in the world. That alone should drive him to suicide
