Blind Item #16

This genre director is B- list but rising thanks to the critical acclaim of his first two films and the fact he got big stars cast in them (including a back in the day child actor turned permanent A list action icon in the first, and a former A list mostly movie actor better known for comedies in his second.) All he needs is the right hit movie, and he'll get to bridge that gap to A list.

Of course, that might not happen if word gets out about what he believes in before his next film comes out. There's a reason he cast that disgraced former A+ list actor everyone thinks is foreign born but technically not in that next film. During the festival run of a film the director wrote but didn't direct (a reboot of a back in the day horror franchise that is legendary by direct to video standards) whispers started leaking that the director is a white supremacist.

  3. And when you go to the IMDB page for the Zahler-scripted "Littlest Reich", it says "plot undisclosed"
    WTF ?

  7. I think Kurt Russell is one of a kind, still haven't seen the actor that can fill his shoes.

    1. Kurt is fave of mine as well. Any skeletons in his closet? I wouldn’t be surprised but it would suck.

  8. Sounds like the sort of thing people would whisper to try to knock someone down a peg, when they don't have anything else.

  10. I'm pretty sure Zahler is at least part Jewish. I remember being surprised to learn that given the 'white exploitation' movies he's made.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I've really...uh...can't say "enjoyed" Zahler's movies, but I'm sure glad I've seen them. The guy's a weirdo auteur for sure. I hope this isn't true.

    ReplyDelete
  12. this is definitely Zahler, who i think is openly pretty republican and has espoused some pretty shitty views before. there were reviews of Brawl in Cell Block 99 that mentioned it. that said, i hope he isn't full white supremacist. if he is, his next movie about police brutality will probably show his ass.

    ReplyDelete
  13. also "Littlest Reich" is the name of the new Puppetmaster reboot which he wrote, but didn't direct. i know some people who saw it and said it was good and didn't have any weird politics.

  14. Did not know Kurt Russell was a child actor.

    The things you learn here.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Don't know who he is and don't know his movies but if him being Republican has nothing to do with him possibly being a white supremacist.

  16. Had to Google Zahler and I must say, for an alleged white supremacist, he looks quite ethnic himself.

  17. Lol, everyone is suddenly a racist, "white supremacist," "Nazi," or "fascist," o some sort, according to people in media, entertainment, academia. 😂😂
Go back even 2-3 yrs, and no one was talking like this or running around pointing fingers and ginning up witch hunts of "wrong thinkers," but it's suddenly en vogue.
I'm old enough to remember the stupidity of the 70s and the Overpopulation Bomb & coming Ice Age, the 80s and the whole Satanic Panic/every daycare was full of pedophiles who might ritually sacrifice your kids, the 90s panic over explicit language/sexuality in music or music videos campaign, (led by that looney harpy,Tipper Gore), & the burgeoning race war riots that were going to throw us in a Civil War after the Rodney King/OK verdicts, and then the unending early 00s scarefests of melting polar ice caps, overpopulation & the fear that playing violent video games made every kid a potential future school shooter.

Spoiler Alert-none of this was real or happened.
Anything that suddenly becomes "a thing" when it wasn't ever a major issue or suddenly becomes "acknowledged consensus," is 9xs out of 10, utter bullshit.
Don't get sucked in by media hype.

  18. I can personally assure anyone reading that neither Vince Vaughn, or anyone in his family have any racism in their soul. They are all decent people.

  20. @orangesoda,

Considering that 87% of Republican voters approve of a President who very explicitly called individuals marching alongside Nazis in Charlottesville "very fine people" -- a President who was the first candidate to be endorsed by the K.K.K. --

-- I don't think it's such a stretch to say many Republicans are white supremacists.

  21. Kurt was a darn good child actor, often in Disney flicks although he did other tv shows back in the day including a favorite of mine, Laredo, a western on NBC. He played young Indian boy on an episode of it working with another fave of mine, actor William Smith. years later they worked together again in movie called The Mean Season. Kurt is a darn good adult actor too and I really loved him in Tombstone. Love him and Bill Smith both. Don't know anything about any of the rest of this crap including racism but wanted to chime in for those who didn't realize that Kurt was a child actor. His Dad was Sheriff on Bonanza for years too.

  22. Zeroh Tollerants - No. Not 'everyone' is suddenly racist, only white celebrities. It's as if only white poeple can be racists.

I have yet to read anything racist a non-white celebrity has ever said on cdan. Even though some of the most shockingly racist shit I ever heard in my life, came from ethnic minorities. I know this shit, cause I am one.

  25. Who cares, frankly? If it's okay for black celebrities to be openly racist--which they are with shocking candor every time someone asks them what time of day it is--why can't there be pushback? We're all tribal. So what? That's how shit works. You tell me what neighborhood you'd rather live in.

And Kurt Russell is one of the last of the versatile actors from the old Hollywood mold. He can do anything: comedy, drama, action. He can hate anyone he wants, and that's cool with me.

    ReplyDelete
  26. "frankly? If it's okay for black celebrities to be openly racist--which they are with shocking candor every time someone asks them what time of day it is"

Really, @Jimmy? If there are so many examples of black celebs being openly racist, please provide a list with links. We're all waiting.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well, TruthSayer, why not start with the biggest black celebrity of them all, Oprah, who said--and you can twist the context anyway you want--that a whole generation of white people have to die off before she'll be happy...except of course, for the "good white people" she has working for her (in another racist statement).

Actually, to go by the rules that blacks set up for "racist" statements made by whites, anytime a black celebrity frames an argument based on the color of someone's skin--"white people do this," "white people are so this,"--it's a racist statement. And you need links for everytime someone black said that? Can't have it both ways...although hypocritical double standards are guilty white liberals' and racist blacks' stock and trade.

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Jimmy, two things:

    1) Please provide a link indicating Oprah said this. I'd prefer to see the actual quote rather than rely on your no doubt biased interpretation.

    2) You said "to go by the rules that blacks set up for "racist" statements made by whites" -- that just sounds ridiculous. What is there, a Black Celebrities Organization that comes up with such rules? Please tell me where I can find a list of these "rules."

    3) You only identified one black celeb, proving indeed that the claims you are making have no actual basis in reality and come from a snowflake who is full of s**t

    ReplyDelete
  29. TruthSayer...your arguments are getting weaker and more juvenile. It's about time someone got on these boards and called your shit out. Your arguments and comebacks? Pathetic hairsplitting. Here's the interview, dumbshit--like I'd make up her saying it: https://www.bbc.com/news/av/entertainment-arts-24934979/oprah-winfrey-the-butler-racism-and-obama

As for your sad little word games, of course there is no such organization ("Oh no! He got me! There's no Black Celebrities Organization! What will I do?!")...but that doesn't mean there aren't accepted rules set up for the majority of the mainstream media when it comes to reporting on black celebrities: i.e.; they can say what the fuck they want when it comes to how they think white folks act, or how white society does this or that...but god help the white celebrity that calls out some of the more, um...colorful aspects of black culture (see what i did there with wordplay, asshole?)

As for identifying only one celeb...all you have to do is google black celebrity and racism, and you get hundreds of quotes and more from black celebs identifying white people's problems with this and that and everything else. Follow their Twitter feeds--it's nothing but bitching and whining about whites and their privilege Come on--you're not that fucking stupid, are you? You've never read a black celebrity say, "This is the problem with white society, white Americans, white males, etc?" You've never read that before? You need me to do your work for you, idiot? Google them yourself. Dude, you got NOTHING to your argument. Zip. I'm gonna watch for your shit on these posts, and I'm gonna call your ass out every chance I can get.

    ReplyDelete
  30. @Jimmy, you are the only dumb shit I see here.

Oprah's exact quote in the video: "there is a generation of older people who were born and bred and marinated in racism and they just have to die." She is criticizing RACISTS. NOT white people as a whole. She is saying that in order for racism to die out, people who are diehard racists need to leave the Earth. She may not have said what she said in the most elegant way, but the underlying sentiment is not offensive.

Of course, when people talk about racism, white people come up a lot. Do you know why? It has to do with what "racism" means. It is a system of belief where one feels one is inherently better than someone else because of his/her race. And like it or not, for most of history this type of thinking has been promoted by white people, from Nazi Germany to the K.K.K. to the Alt Right. There are no such widespread movements among people of color.

As for your comments about the media and black celebrities and "rules" -- this is what you are having so much trouble understanding.
When people talk about racism, they are not being racists. They are just criticizing an ugly type of thought. When people talk about white people being racist, or not being aware of white privilege, they are not being racists. They are not criticizing them for being white, they are criticizing them for not being aware that their behavior might be wrong. They are definitely not saying that they are better than white people because they are black.

CALLING OUT RACISM DOES NOT MAKE YOU A RACIST. Get it, doofus?

    ReplyDelete
  31. You're fucking stupider than I thought. "not the most elegant way"?? She said a group of people need to die off for things to get better, and that group of people are a certain skin color. Howdy, Mrs. Himmler. What kind of moral gymnastics do you have to execute to go ahead and say her massive generalization about white people isn't offensive? By your logic, I could say we're going to need a large segment of young black men to die off to keep the crime rate down. Think I could get away with saying that? You're fucking dense.

As for racism and prejudice, it's as old as the hills. It doesn't begin with Nazism or whites, you incredible clod. Read a fucking book. Every civilization had elements of racism and prejudice in their treatment of other civilizations they encountered...and in just as strong and heinous terms. Dude, one tiny example: fucking Indians right here in America held other Indians slaves--before white ever set foot on this ground. Do your read about that in the paper...or do you only get stories about how awful whites have been to the poor Indians? Hey, know where there's a slave trade going on right now, based on color? Middle East and Africa, genius. Where did humans supposedly begin to gather in organized groups and eventual develop civilizations? Yep--right there. That's where slavery was invented, Mr. Hawking: not too many old white male Klansmen from North Carolina born there... And it's still going on--we're babies on the time line compared to them. You think whites invented prejudice and racism because you listened to your fucking liberal teachers. Read something else and learn history.

And when you talk about racism, and you start making generalizations based on people's color, you're a fucking racist, dumbshit. You've just been trained to think only whites are. Let me guess: you're one of those liberal whites who think they're being righteous gallant knights whom the minorities are going to LOVE because you "get it." You're a clown. They laugh at morons like you, but whatever. I say embrace your prejudices--friction makes civilization. Being polite and pretending that only one group of people are wrong, while suppressing all non-believers speech, makes the fascists you liberals are today.

Come back for some more hilariously wrongheaded shit, fucking Einstein.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Jimmy:

"and that group of people are a certain skin color." She never mentioned a specific skin color. That is an outright lie. She was talking about old racists, period. Stop lying.

Are you seriously using Indians' or Africans' enslavement of each other as examples of racism? Are you THAT FUCKING STUPID?

I just finished explaining to you what racism means. "Racism" does not mean "slavery". Racism means THINKING YOU ARE BETTER THAN SOMEONE ELSE BECAUSE OF THEIR RACE. Repeat it so it sinks in to your thick fucking head!!

This is why time and time again reports have shown conservatives to be the most misinformed voters there are. This is why people without a college education by and large voted for Trump. When you only listen to the lies Fox News and conservative media tells you, you will believe anything. Sad!

    ReplyDelete
  33. And what "old racists" were those? All those black racists that don't supposedly exist? Remember--only whites can be racist, remember? You're forgetting your dogma.

And sure I'm using those as examples...because even a fucking five year old gets them. But you have no answer for it, so all you do is ask your gay little insult.

When you either can't answer the argument, or you start repeating yourself ("repeat that!" you shriek--hahahaha), this turns into Cindy and Bobby on the fucking teeter-totter. And to top off your level of fucking debate, you pull up old goofy anti-Fox news polls? You're fucking precious, Mary.

I've said what I've said, and you haven't been able to counter a fucking thing. I'll leave it up to others here on the board to call out who's fucking dumber (quick--get your pussy friends to back you up with some posts!! That'll show me!!)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I never said "only whites can be racist." Those are your words.

Regarding Oprah, my point is that she did not say anyone needs to die off on the basis of their race. She called for people to die off on the basis of their racism. If you can't understand the distinction, then you are even dumber than I thought.

"Anti-Fox News" polls? Right, because any survey that isn't conducted by Fox News can't be believed; it's just "fake news." You conservatives are so brainwashed, just like they want. It's sad.

I've countered everything you've said. It's hard for you to make any sense when you are arguing based on emotion rather than logic.

    ReplyDelete
  35. You're reading real weak now, honey. We can feel it, reading your sadder, smaller answers--the wind's gone right out of your sails, hasn't it? No balls anymore. Like you're trying to be reasonable, explaining things to me, like you're a chick. Like you're taking the higher ground...even though you didn't earn it, while you try to bow out of an argument you can't hang with logically. You lost the argument, douche. Face it. You're a pussy who can't argue your point. It's cool, though. When things get tight on the street, I'll come to you since you're gallant white knight with the brothers. Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  36. @Jimmy,

    "your gay little insult"

    "like you're a chick"

So not only are you one of the dumbest fucking people to comment on this site, you are also a raging homophobe and misogynist.

I genuinely feel sorry for people like you. You lash out because of some ridiculous feeling of victimization by minorities/LGBT/immigrants/etc., when the only people who are really victimizing you are the Republican politicians who continue to cut budgets for things like healthcare benefits and welfare (used mostly by people in red states, ahem) and shovel that money into tax cuts for the 1%.

You guys are suckers for continuing to support a party that uses you to get elected and then does everything it can to screw you over (but hey, at least you can buy as many guns as you want, amirite?). Truly sad.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hahahaha! Only a chick would sound so outraged at how most guys talk. You think we give a shit what a sad little outraged pussy like you says? Dude I know straight-up queers who are tougher-sounding than you--they'd kick your ass right out the fucking door. Them, I respect. They don't take shit from anybody. You? Go tell teacher you're outraged! Get on fucking Twitter and start a trend! Go cry in a corner, maybe someone will come and help!

By the way, they just did a study: women are hard-wired to like guys like me...not nelly queens like you. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-5908839/Women-hard-wired-meaning-sexist-men-attractive.html

But wait...you DO like women? Right?
