This occurred on the set of a detective show that ran for a number of years a number of decades ago. The actor who played the title character was relatively old to play this type of role. Prior to this show, he had another show that was also successful and long running but a completely different genre. Before that, he was known for a certain skill he demonstrated in movies but was usually a second banana.
The actor did not like what he saw during the shooting of that week’s episode. A child actor’s guardian was behaving very inappropriately with the child and even offered to pimp the child out. Finally, the actor had him thrown off the set and after the day’s shoot was complete called Child Protective Services. He was assisted in this by the very beautiful woman who played a relation on the show. She was well known for winning a prestigious title prior to her acting career.

ReplyDeleteBuddy Ebsen: Jed Clampett/dancing in movies prior career as 2nd banana
Lee Meriwether: Miss America
Carroll O'Connor - In the heat of the night, don't know the co star female assistant, the child actor or the handler....
ReplyDeletePeople pimping out kids should be very uncommon.
ReplyDeleteOnce they're caught, they should be made to stop.
Seems like Hollywood has that whole thing backward.
I have no idea but am definitely intrigued. Following this one.
ReplyDeleteActor: Carroll O'Connor
ReplyDeleteShow: In the Heat of the Night
Beautiful helpful actress who plays relation: Margaret Blye
Child Actor:
Handler:
I'd have preferred that he kicked the living shite out of the molesting cunt first but, fair does, he still did a hell of a lot more than any of the noncing hashtag worshipping fucktards infesting Hollyweird today do.
ReplyDeleteThis should not be a blind.
ReplyDeleteit has to be Buddy Ebsen he played second banana in a whole lot of westerns that I would watch with my father.
ReplyDeleteSo what's the rest of the story? What happened to the kid? Should we clap for him doing what any normal decent person would do in that situation?
ReplyDeleteThe real-life Buddy Ebsen -- singer, dancer, actor, sailor, commodore of a yacht club -- was about as different from Jed Clampett as an American could be. Something to keep in mind when reading about your favorite stars.
ReplyDeleteNorthern CA remains ablaze... Too bad the conflagration is not centered in Hwood. Burn that infested shithole to the ground.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely should be labelled as a kindness blind.
ReplyDeleteSlow day for Enty, extra reveals and reader blinds.
Buddy ebsen started out as a tap dancer in Hollywood movies in the 30s, he played second banana to other stars, like Shirley Temple, he was never a leading man like Fred Astaire.
ReplyDeleteMud called it first - very good!!
ReplyDeleteHis sailing memoir is a good read.
ReplyDeleteyeah its buddy ebsen

ReplyDeleteOh wait, Lee Meriweather... def Buddy Ebsen.
ReplyDeleteBuddy Epson was a professional dancer before an actor. He and his sister were an act, but then he did some dancing in movies along side some better knowns.
ReplyDeleteAndy Griffith.
ReplyDeleteWent from a comedy to a detective a.k.a. Matlock.
whoever he is, thank you
ReplyDeleteAndy Griffith and Linda purl
ReplyDeleteI believe Buddy Ebsen was going to play the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz but had a very bad reaction to the makeup so they recast w/ Jack Haley Jr.
ReplyDeleteThis should be a kindness blind. One of the most generous acts I have read of an actor and actress here on CDAN.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not Griffith, who was revealed as a pedophile on this site.
ReplyDeleteIt was Buddy Ebsen, whose co star on Barnaby was former Miss America Lee Merriweather.
Both of them were good eggs.
@Lisa, what blind was that? Do you remember the details or when it was posted?
DeleteSara, his name was thrown out as the friend of Jerry Van Dyke in “the interview” but the consensus is that the friend was Gene Hackman. I don’t know any others involving him.
DeleteAndy Griffith good guess, but would bet money it's Buddy Epson w/ Lee Meriwhether one of the most beautiful women to ever appear on television, for this role, and as Catwoman w. Adam West, one season of Mission: Impossible, many other shows and guest roles.
ReplyDeleteIt would be good to know what happened to the kid, but to those who ask why Epson didn't follow up, let's consider how out of character and possible even brave it was for him to do what he did.

ReplyDeleteBuddy Ebsen. He started out as a great dancer.
ReplyDeleteMy wife dated Ebsen's grandson when she was in high school, and met Buddy Ebsen several times. She says he was everything you would expect in a loving Grandfather, very kind, very funny, every bit the family man.
