Blind Item #12 - Reader Blind Item

This permanent A list comic movie actor got his start on a long running hit network show.  He is trying to head off a potentially career ending scandal which would ruin his good guy image.  In college, there was a sexual assault at the fraternity he was a member of.  He was present and participated in the gang rape of a drunk girl.  The girl did file a  complaint but as athletes were among those involved and she was very drunk the university did not act on her claim.  Since then, she has occasionally contacted this comedian/actor and he has paid her money to keep quiet.  Now in the wake of MeToo, she feel empowered and has contacted a famous female attorney who specializes in these types of cases.  The actor is trying to negotiate a deal so she doesn’t go public.

    3. I don’t disagree with you. Unfortunately, certain women (@rose , & Asia ) have made the decision to selfishly capitalize on interactions that were consensual at the time but now better suit a narrative that indicates otherwise. I’d tell the women below to read up and do their research but they most certainly won’t. Victim culture is much more alluring. It’s easier to call you an insensitive asshole than it is for them to actually research the women they so blindly advocate for. That’s what’s gross.

    2. He is super quiet and reserved “when off/not in character “, but yea it’s known he’s not the nicest dude either. Most people don’t know that about about which is why it surprise many.

I really hope not, but I’m inclined to agree. The only thing I can’t find is info on whether he was part of a sorority or not.

      Ugh, I meant fraternity.
I mean, I’d also be interested if he was part of a sorority, but that’s neither here nor there.

    3. He was at USC. He actually said in an interview for “Old School”, he has plenty of material to draw from

  5. It's because of antiquated troglodytes like Jon that there was the need for a #MeToo movement in the first place.

  8. Paul Rudd had a recurring role on Friends, and was in a frat, but is he permanent A list?

  9. Woody Harrelson (Cheers) also was in a frat. But he does more than just comedy.

  10. That is some sick sh!t, I hope we get a reveal of the comic movie actor and the college. I've lost total faith in any celebrity with a good guy image.

  11. comic movie actor got his start on a long running hit network show....I feel like it's someone from The Office...?

  12. John Goodman, Kevin James (do not consider him permanent A) were also in frats.

  13. I don't think Jim Carrey went to college.

  14. Ashton Kutcher was in a frat

  15. I think a lot of these "going public any day now" stories are simply negotiating tactics. If you've been taking money for years to keep quiet about something, this is a good time to renegotiate for a better deal. You can soften up the other party by leaking out something like this that he will recognize, maybe even have someone send him a link to it anonymously.

These blinds that "expose" rapists are doing more harm than good. The victim gets a bigger settlement but it's kept quiet.

  17. If you told me Ashton Kutcher *wasn't* in a frat, I'd think you must be lying. He's like the frattiest frat boy that ever fratted.

  18. Paul Rudd, started on friends

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't think it's Rudd. He was known for stuff like Clueless before Friends. I also don't think he's "permanent A list"

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sheesh. Paul Ruud did not get his start on "Friends". He was in the Clueless film 7 years before Friends.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Clueless didn't make him a star. Friends brought him greater recognition. Anchorman was his big break.

  22. I'm jaded from this site because I think all of the guesses are plausible.

  23. I can't stop laughing at "frattiest frat boy who ever frat."

    Great statement. Totally agree.

I feel like this is possibly Will Ferrell. I hate typing that. I feel like I died a little.

Oh, please not Steve Carrell, please not Steve Carrell.
Known for the office, played hockey at Denison for all four years, part of a student improv group...

  26. Going to the police ultimately means taking the stand and being grilled by high-paid attorneys who will do their best to make you look like a whore who begged for it. If you're accusing some of the beloved names listed here, the media will give them a hand. Prepare for your family and old friends back to grade school to be harassed and probably offered money if they can come up with anything juicy on you.

As much as we wish more people would come forward, I don't think it's hard to see why they don't.

  27. Nate Parker is ruined already he was one of the first.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The only one that really fits would be Adam Sandler (and truly shocking.)

    ReplyDelete
  29. "Agreed! I’m just confused as to why nobody is going to the damn police!!!!"

Because they'd rather have money? And honestly, if this stuff happened 20 years ago, who can blame them?

  34. Sadly, even though most states do not have a statute of limitations anymore, back in the 90s and early millennium there were on sexual assault cases. Thus the money at this point.

  36. +1 to Adam Sandler guesses.

He has had such a low profile the past few years, you kind of wonder why.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ed Helms got his start on The Daily Show, so I don't think it's him.

Anyway, even if he is gay, it doesn't mean he couldn't have participated in a college rape.
    But I don't think it's him anyway.

My money is on Steve Carrell

    ReplyDelete
  39. Will Ferrell. He was in Delta Tau Delta at USC.

  40. Steve Carrell was a Daily Show correspondent and had success with The 40 Year Old Virgin prior to his stint on The Office.

  41. Ew. The idea that Adam Sandler is A list is just sad. He's just a one trick pony over and over and over. Like, the worst though, the
"Me want drinky of wa-wa for me moufy", one trick pony.
Ugh. I just died a little in writing that

    Bill Hader :(

  43. Ed O'Neill seems the most likely due to the Rolling Stones piece, but Will Ferrell, Woody Harrelson, John Goodman, Jim Gaffigan, Dennis Miller, Paul Rudd, Keenan Ivory Wayans, Jon Stewart, and Kevin James, all work, as well.
IMO, without the Rolling Stones link, I would've said either Will Ferrell or Kevin James as the most likely.

I think this is Ferrell. Former frat guy, projects an image of goodness (though I have also heard that he's secretly really a prick) and has talked about how frats should be ended-- maybe remorse over his past. Also began on a long runnig network show (SNL.) Carell and Helms began on Daily Show, so cable not network.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ed O’Neill’s last year in college was 1968 so this would be the oldest #metoo ever. Color me skeptical.

    ReplyDelete
  46. It's pretty obvious that we are not going achieve a consensus on this one. Could be anyone from Red Skeleton to Matt Leblanc.

What concerns me is that everyone seems to be glossing over the fact that the victim went to the authorities and was stonewalled. So many of these horrific accounts of abuse that have surfaced lately include the fact that they reported, either to producers or agents and now campus police.

Those who assist in the cover-up are as complicit as the the perp as they enable the behavior. So many that will never see the inside of a courtroom but should, in this old man's humble opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Woody Harrelson would prefer if we could just talk about Rampart.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Definitely not Dennis Miller. I knew him well. Don’t even recall him being much of a drinker.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I don't have a guess. Just wanted to say I agree with both Cail Corishev's observations.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Agree! Dennis Miller is so dry he makes Sigismund of Luxembourg's defense of his grammar look like Sir Winston's liquor cabinet in 1949.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Jon really is a vile tosser, isn't he?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Lots of people being named who are primarily TV and not Permanent A. First line says " permanent A list comic movie actor"

    ReplyDelete
  53. What I learned from this link is that Will Ferrell and Paul Ryan were in the same frat. https://totalfratmove.com/11-celebrities-fraternity-composite-photos/ Huh.

Also, sad to say but this totally sounds like Will Ferrell to me. Permanent A list comic movie actor who got his start on a long-running show basically screams SNL. Not that many SNL alums are permanent A list.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Adam Sandler has not been lying low, quite the contrary. Those with kids and/or grandkids here, ever heard of the HUUUUGE hit Hotel Transylvania?

    Or Hotel Transylvania 2?

    How about Hotel Transylvania 3?

I don't think it's him. He's the kind of guy who wouldn't be able to perform in a gang rape. It's got to be some one with a cruel streak. Loveable but cold. Sandler isn't cold, he's too mushy for that shit.

Unfortunately I will go with Will Ferrell.

    ReplyDelete
  55. They have to watch who they are pointing the finger at! Look what happened to Maynard from tool!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Good for her. I hope she gets a settlement, and then talks anyway. You don't RAPE someone, and then act all- oops, wasn't my idea and I was young. Lots of people make it through life not raping anyone, it doesn't "happen" to the guy like he is a bystander. It takes a certain kind of guy to be able to "perform" while watching a girl get raped.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I don't think Jim Carrey has post-secondary education, let alone a family wallet big enough to get into a frat, so he can be ruled out.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Whether this is true or false, if she has been taking money for years, then she's not exactly traumatized and a victim anymore!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Erm......so everyone thinks it was okay for this lady to keep asking for money until metoo# came along? Isn't she part of the problem for victims? I would never have any negotiations going with a man who raped me. Through experience-even seeing their face would make me ill.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Isn't that the point of #metoo? She reported it and got stonewalled. And how hard it must have been to report it in the first place. The problem for victims is the ease with which these systems deny your right to justice. I hope you got your justice Amy.

  60. Will Ferrell in my opinion. While I like most of his work, some of his over the top bro characters are a bit much for me.
