Today's Blind Items - The Landlord

Long story short, this back in the day A- list mostly television actor from a show all of you know and this back in the day B+ list mostly television actor from a hit network show who no longer really acts have been landlords of multiple units; The actress wife of the former A- lister was recently added as an owner of the unit. Currently the landlords are trying to sell a unit and are trying to constructively evict at least one tenant by not fixing things that are broken, including the air conditioning in a hot LA summer. They refused to fix the only toilet available for close to a week.

Saddest part: the tenant LOVED the former B+ list actor from his hit show, and loved (lower case) the former A- lister from his former show. If anyone had told younger me that someday I'd move to Hollywood and live in their apartment, and they'd attempt to drive me out of my home prematurely (and drive me insane) through constructive eviction, I might've been a little excited (I was a real fan, lol), but I also just wouldn't have believed it.

  7. I've seen this many, many times.
    It's typical Landlord behavior when a property is in escrow.
    I recommend yo save ALL of your repair receipts.
    AND, you should retain a real estate attorney.
    You should find out (if you can) WHO? the buyer is.
    You have leasehold rights up and until the end of your lease.
    And, I'm sure that the sales contract has a clause that state's the current owner will maintain the property.
    Then, again, you need an attorney to help you.

  9. Document everything. All communications with LL should be in writing, or confirmed in writing. Also, and I'm assuming you are in California, if you're in a rent control area you probably have additional rights on top of the ones provided by state law. You have much more power in this situation than you think. Get an attorney.

  15. David Howes and Amartel are right. Document everything. Take them to small claims court. Photograph every incident. You have more power than you think. If you don't want to get an attorney who specializes in this,https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes.xhtml read up on your tenant rights.

  17. I don't think the Joe Penny blind/ reveal has anything to do with this. Just coincidence. Joe Penny actually just had a birthday, sometimes Enty times things that way.

  18. Cheesegrater, the first showing of the blind was how it was sent to Enty, he probably sent the wrong version in. The first gives too much detail of the person who sent it.
