Much like Anna Faris played Cameron Diaz in Lost In Translation, this A list mostly movie actress who is an Oscar winner/nominee is playing this foreign born A- list mostly movie actress in her new movie.
Anne Hathaway/Diane Kruger/Ocean's 8

So she's racist?
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody know anyone who's seen this? I was at a party Saturday night with about 25 people, maybe half of them avid filmgoers and nobody had seen it. Yet it's made over $70 million. Very strange.

ReplyDeleteBy "avid filmgoers" do you mean discriminating film buffs? Or just people who watch a lot of movies?
I have friends who go to $5 senior night every week, and see whatever is there.
I feel like the people who see Oceans 8 are older and have no kids and probably see a lot of movies without checking reviews.
I go to like, 2 movies a year (that are not kids movies) so I am a bit particular about what I see.
This is probably the cleanest blind we've had featuring Anne Hathaway.
ReplyDeleteI still don't understand this blind. Can someone explain it to me, please?
ReplyDeleteSo what has Kruger done? And so much for how these actresses support each other.
ReplyDeleteThese were mostly average Jane Consumer types. A couple film buffs but mostly not. One was a woman who goes about once a week and she said she wasn't interested.
ReplyDeleteI was just so surprised by the $40 million opening and "only" 50% drop-off and nobody I know has seen it.
Also noticed that "Wrinkle in Time" crossed $100 million at the box office last weekend, earning nearly $2 million after getting added to many more theaters in its 15th week. That makes no sense to me, and makes me think Disney was sliding some "Incredibles 2" money into that very bad movie's coffers so it hit $100 million.
You underestimate the power of the family movie. Nearly everyone I know has seen A Wrinkle in Time (at least once), and brought their kids/ grandkids/ nieces/ nephews/ godchildren.
DeleteVirginia, the rumors are that Anna Farris emulated Cameron Diaz while playing her role in Lost in translation. I believe that's what they're saying here...
ReplyDeleteExcept that Anna Farris was not in Lost in Translation unless there was a straight-to-on-demand remake that no one knows about. The assumption is that Enty (or the Enterns) have confused Anna Farris & ScarJo.
ReplyDeleteAnna Faris is 4th billed in Lost in Translation. Her character is an actress.
Delete@Sara - I stand corrected. What an obscure clue/reference!
ReplyDeleteIf this blind is supposed to be a slam on Diane Kruger then the writer must not of seen the movie. The Ann Hathaway character turns out to be pretty smart in the movie.
