Blind Item #6 - Reader Blind Item
A Brit Actor most well known for playing Americans on TV was horrifically abused at his famously elite boarding school as a barely pubescent kid, he was singled out and tortured psychologically, sexually and physically.
One of the abusers in question was a violent sadist, an authority figure and powerful member of government. His activities were covered up by the school for years and continued even after he stopped officially working there. He wasn't the only one but he was the worst.
That abuser fled the country after it got too hot for him and began working in a 3rd world nation with children again “Charitable work” He was investigated in that country for murder. But the case mysteriously collapsed and he got away with it.
If you look at this actor's performances over the years there is a common theme of abuse, gaslighting and stockholm syndrome relationships with manipulative older men running through his role choices.
He also, wherever possible, works with female producers, directors and show runners because his relationships with men in authority are so fraught he prefers to collaborate with women.
He’s a lot less screwed up than he could be given his history and seems to have finally found a stable and happy life for himself far away from his home country. With the help of his spouse and a good therapist.

Damien Lewis?

DeleteHugh Laurie?
ReplyDeleteDaniel Day Lewis
ReplyDeleteRupert Friend
ReplyDeleteI first thought Dominic West, but I’m pretty sure he still lives in London? No idea about the abuser, who’s obviously the important guess :/
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was West too. He fits this well. One of seven kids, what was happening to him may have been missed. And BTW he lives in Ireland, no where near where he grew up in England. Sad.
DeleteSo who was the government person?
ReplyDeleteCyril Smith or Edward Heath have been spoken about recently... so disgusting. I'm glad this victim is doing well.
ReplyDeleteWhat would a government figure have to do with a boarding school? Odd.
ReplyDeleteMatthew Rhys? Good family life in NYC. Takes roles where he is living under the pressures of extreme authority.
My guess would be that after he graduated and/or moved on he eventually joined the government.
DeleteDamian Lewis/Eton College?
ReplyDeleteJonny Lee Miller, although I hope not ... I have a huge school-girl crush on him!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought too!
DeleteHugh Dancy. "Hannibal". IF true- poor thing. He looks so fragile ...
ReplyDeleteHe played a sex abuse victim on The Path. Emmy worthy performance too.
DeleteOh interesting JL, I didn’t realise he lived in Ireland.
ReplyDeleteDominic West and Hugh Laurie are supposed to be raging assholes whom people have trouble working with because of egos. That does not happen when people are severely abused like that, unless they are now abusers themselves...but I don't think Dominic West nor Hugh Laurie are...

ReplyDeleteI thought of Matthew Rhys but think the suspect is older. I like the Damien Lewis guess. Redheaded kids are often targeted, especially in upper class UK circles.
ReplyDeleteHugh Laurie, fr sure. Went to Eton at 13 and has played American in at least 3 shows (all with female producers, co-producers)...Veep, Chance and House.
ReplyDeleteCumberbatch went to Harrow right?
ReplyDeleteBriefly looked through Dancy's filmography and he has work with many female directors, and a lot of his work fits the themes mentioned.
ReplyDelete"common theme of abuse, gaslighting and stockholm syndrome relationships with manipulative older men running through his role choices"... Litrally the plot of Hannibal.
ReplyDeleteHe just owned that part.
I`m going with Dancy.
Dancy. According to his bio he went to Winchester College. I found an article that listed a school predator who assaulted many young men during the time that Dancy was there. Apparently this person, John Smyth, moved to Zimbabwe and set up Christian camps for children Apparently he was fond of caning boys, I can imagine it would be very easy to take it too far and kill someone. There are several additional articles corroborate the information in this article. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/02/05/john-smyth-school-predator-beat-five-years/
ReplyDeleteCertainly refers to Smyth who was traced to SA this year by Cathy Newman of Ch4 and Jordan Peterson fame, she questioned him on Christian camps he ran in uk in 70’s/80’s and the death of a young man at his Zimbabwe camp but he had been out of uk when Dancy would have been at Winchester. Maybe a crossover of facts/information. It does seem it was/is fucking rife in the UK and was/is covered up by many ‘respectable’ organisations, church, bbc, football, state etc. I would do serious time if anything happened to my son akin to this.

ReplyDelete@Fairylights If it was Winchester it could have been a few different actors, but he does seem to fit. Dancy also boarded at the awesomely named Dragon School as a young child which had its own fair share of scandals of this type from the 70s-90s Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston also went there. Also who the hell sends their little boy to boarding school at the age of 8??? That in its self is horrifying. Abuse in these 'high class' institutions wouldn't be at all unusual. There was basically a huge pedophile ring operating between these places during the 70s and 80s leading all the way to the house of commons. Plus there was a culture of it, almost like there is in prison. If someone attended an all boys boarding school in England then in all probability they were abused, either by teachers or older students. Stephen Fry and Rupert Everett have spoken about it but they are not rare cases.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so if it's Dancy going to Winchester, who is the abuser who also worked in government?
ReplyDelete@plot John Smyth would make sense timeline wise. He was a QC. I dunno what a QC is but sounds political.
DeleteThe school is Ashdown
ReplyDeleteThe actor is Damien Lewis.
The Americans he portrayed: US Marine Nicholas Brady in Homeland, Major Winters in Band of Brothers.
DL is also top cat in some show called "Billions" which doesn't seem very interesting.
ReplyDeleteSo if it's DL, who is the abuser at Ashdown who works in government, too?
Andrew Lincoln??
ReplyDeletePlot - that I can't say. But Alex Renton has written about what happened in his book and on his blog

Hugh Laurie or Tim Roth.
ReplyDelete@Bill Beard Tim Roth didn't go to boarding school but he has spoken about being sexually abused by his paternal grandfather, who also abused his father.
ReplyDeleteJonathan Rhys Myers to be different
ReplyDeleteIf it's Damien Lewis his role in Billions doesn't fit.
ReplyDeleteThis could be Damian Lewis. He gave a curious interview a few years ago in which he described his time at boarding school as "a very violent experience" :-
ReplyDeletehttps://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/05/15/damian-lewis-boarding-school-is-a-very-violent-experience-that-d/
Not really sure his choice of roles fit as Entry describes them though? Regarding Ashdown school, it should also be noted that some of the alleged abusers were older pupils acting in league with abusive teachers, so it's possible one of those pupils went on to work in government.
I wonder however if this article is about St. George's Military Boarding School (now renamed Finborough), the activities of the known paedophile teacher Derek Slade, and his business partner the politician Derek Sawyer, who allegedly set up the company which founded St Georges. They later established a charity in India, "Help A Poor Child", where Slade was once again caught abusing. The notorious MP Keith Vaz, currently under investigation by British police, was a notable fund-raiser for the charity.
If this is the case, I've no idea who the actor could be. But please, if you're reading this, make a full statement to the police if you haven't done so already, and also make a statement to Alexis Jay's Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse.

ReplyDeleteDerek Slade also worked at Duncan Hall, Dalesdown and The Dragon School. Seems like they fired these pervs if there were complaints and then passed them around to other hunting grounds like the Catholic Church.
Boys are guaranteed to get buggered at British boarding schools.
ReplyDeleteAny actor that went to eton, paedo central. If you want a flavour watch the great 60's Malcolm mcdowell movie - If.
ReplyDelete@Marianne Elba - QC stands for 'Queen's Counsel' and is I believe, a legal qualification, as in the case of a barrister (lawyer.)
ReplyDeleteHugh Laurie??? Oh,no. :-( He really seems like a nice guy.
