Blind Item #14
This former flash in the pan A list mostly movie actress has never lost the diva in her from that brief run of success. She got one look at her suite while out of the country and went back to the lobby and got louder and louder until management caved and gave her the second nicest suite in the place. She wanted that, but the management refused to move the guest who was already in there and paying the rate. The company paying for the stay of the actress was basically just paying the price of a regular hotel room.

ReplyDeleteQuite a shame to be acting like a diva when you haven't got a single good movie on your resume. Basic Instinct does not merit a second viewing, unless you're just repeating that scene over and over again.
ReplyDeleteShe was on fire in Casino, just as good of a performance, if not better than De Niro. You can’t ever say that she can’t act.
DeleteAgreed. Casino is a classic.
DeleteNot a fan of Casino?
ReplyDeleteAshley Judd. I think Sharon Stone has better manners.
ReplyDeleteI’m not sure this is about Stone but Casino is a great movie and she does a great job playing herself.
ReplyDeleteShe was in "Casino." That movie, while sort of a remake of "Goodfellas," was pretty good. Other than that....nothing.
ReplyDeleteBasic Instinct is a hilarious camp classic and a great parody of Vertigo
ReplyDeleteBut this blind could be lots of actresses besides Sharon Stone
They always say it's a "camp classic" when the movie is junk. Then they tell us, "oh, you just don't understand it!" Of course I do. Hollywood failed.
ReplyDeleteAs for Casino, I think Martin Scorsese got serviced and felt he ought to do SOMETHING for her... but it's not that good.

ReplyDeleteTotal Recall was good, and she was good in it. The rest was pretty well mediocre.
ReplyDeleteRemember when she did the guest appearance/new show pilot on TJ Hooker? That was about her limit.
That being said, there are a lot of actresses this could be.
I liked her in The Quick and the Dead. Not a great movie, but a decent one. And Sharon was stunning. Plus still-adorable young Leo. He was so pretty once.
ReplyDeleteSharon Stone had an 8 year run of hits (from 90-98) so I don't think she fits anyone's definition of "flash in the pan." P.S., I love, love, love The Quick and the Dead. She's bad in it but Low Key is right, she was stunning.
ReplyDeleteI like Sharon Stone as a celebrity and friend in my head. Casino was her most memorable role. Basic instinct and the RHIANNA interview after the incident blur together.

ReplyDeleteI had no idea so many of Sharon's family members were on this board, LOL.
Seriously, the only way she got people to come to her movies was to show an impressive amount of skin. This brought in the bucks for Basic Instinct, Sliver and a Stallone movie that nobody cares about (that I'm not going to Google). She has no drawing power unless she's part of a big marquee cast (e.g., Casino).
As for her looks—of COURSE she was stunning. Still is. (Have you seen that swimsuit photo?)

But there is nothing Sharon Stone brings to a role that, say, Gail O'Grady (NYPD Blue) couldn't. Which means that Sharon Stone should just get ejected from the next hotel where she tries to play the diva card.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of anyone that fits A-list, diva, AND flash-in-the-pan.
??? They all seem have had long careers.
Maybe someone who simply fell off the "hot list" in short time? I think Minnie Driver fits (even though it doesn"t say foreign born).
Her big movie hits were in the span of just a couple years in the late 90's. She is all TV now.
Hey, remember Sharon Stone rose from being the first spokesmodel winner on "Star Search". It was all up from there.
ReplyDeletei kinda liked sharon stone until she said all that bullshit about not knowing they were going to do that crotch shot.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying Sharon Stone is a good actress or that she could, at any time in her career, open a movie. I'll even throw in that she's dumb as hell even though she claims to be a member of MENSA. But she was in a string of hits in the 90's and that doesn't say "flash in the pan" to me.
ReplyDeleteBasic Instinct, Disclosure, Fatal Attraction...Michael Douglas was living his best life.
ReplyDeleteBut, but, it was Sharon? Cannot be somebody else? She has a solid decade in the 90s. No flash in the pan.
ReplyDeleteWhy does everyone here almost always assume that the first guess is correct?
ReplyDeleteSay what you will about The Quick and The Dead, I think it is a great movie. I only watched it because of Leo, but ended up loving the whole thing. The atmosphere, the soundtrack, all those whacky minor characters... it may not be the most meaningful or intelligent movie ever made, but it's definetely entertaining in a cartoonish sort of way.
ReplyDeleteAnd both Leo and Russell Crowe were so hot back then. Sigh...
Agree, trufflepig. I love everything about that movie. Gene Hackman, tiny Leo Dicapprio, thin Russell Crowe, Gary Sinise, Sharon Stone's leather outfit - all in a western directed by Sam Raimi?? I think I'll go home home and watch it tonight.
ReplyDeleteOmg it was directed by Sam Raimi? How did I not know that? I love him forever for giving us Evil Dead.
DeleteSharon has been referred to as "flash in the pan" before on CDAN, and there was an article about her being out of the country to promote something on DM. So it is most likely her.
ReplyDeleteshe was in Irreconcilable Differences, not a great movie, but she was great--a young-ish beauty showing comic chops,
ReplyDeleteIf SS really was described as a "flash in the pan" that was a mistake. Not an arch-fan, but she was featured in a string of hit flicks for most of a decade.
ReplyDeleteNo idea who the diva is.
Marisa Tomei was in Sardinia for a film festival, and though I could definitely see her pulling this, the blind would have mentioned her Oscar. Oof, she is a B.
ReplyDeleteStone was at the Paris Art and Movie Awards earlier this week.
I think flash in the pan refers to her most famous scene. She flashed and had no panties.
ReplyDeletemust be nice to think so highly of yourself....i can't stand people who think they are so much better than anyone else no matter how famous they are or think they are or how rich...being kind and nice are so much better but then i'm a poor nobody so what do i know...i would like to think however if i were rich and famous i'd still treat people with kindness and not be a diva. that's UGLY.
ReplyDeleteTotal Recall is a great summer popcorn sci-fi action flick. Plus her buck nekked bod in it is all time A+++++
ReplyDeleteAs to the gawd awful movie with Stallone (and James Wood as the villain), it's called "The Specialist" (indeed it was most certainly "special"). Stallone plays the titular role, a super duper bomb maker and uber bad ass delta force/seals type special ops kinda guy. "Highlight" is James Wood being called in as some rogue CIA spook, takes one look at what's left of some bombing that "Specialist" Stallone perpetrated and says straight faced deadpan "totally professional hit, I'm talking top notch. Gotta be a specialist" or some such shite.
Wouldn't Enty have used alliterate actress in his if this was Sharon Stone?

ReplyDelete"Casino ain't that good". Exactly
It's better than most films of it's tiem but that's not saying much. Hollywood is god awful now.
I didn't care for Casino.
ReplyDeleteStone was never naked in Total Recall.
ReplyDeleteSharon Stone is fabulous. That is all there needs to be said.
ReplyDeleteShe shows her breasts in Irreconcilable Differences with Ryan O'Neil, Shelly Long and a very young Drew Barrymore. She plays an actress more than happy to show her tits on and off camera for Ryan. Actually a funny parody of Hollywood.
ReplyDeleteBasic Instinct was a take-off of Vertigo. Too bad it was shit and Vertigo is still a masterpiece.
