Roberts / Gere
Julia Roberts\Franco?
Reese Witherspoon/Vince Vaughn
I'd say Julia Roberts & Nick Nolte, but their movie flopped horribly.
Reese and Vince, best guess, but Vince hasn't been A list in quite a while.
Affleck - Pike - Gone Girl
Holly Hunter/Harvey Keitel?
Please not Vince!
Gotta be Pretty Woman with Gere/Roberts as it regains new fans continously, as does Dirty Dancing but it can't be that by details given....but adding an extra 10 million to her sum means it can't be one of Julia's first films....I could be wrong!
Melissa McCarthy Jason Bateman
If it was Julia Roberts and Richard Gere why would she work with him again in the runaway bride?
Reese/Tom Hardy? I quit now.
Something with Jennifer Aniston maybe. Which female actor can ask for that amount of money? Not many!
True...
Marley and Me. Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston. There were sex scenes.
Foget mine. JenAn is not mostly movies. I will leave it to the experts!
Wow, so now women can make "assault" accusations and strongarm 10 million dollars out of people.
Neat.
Must be so hard being a member of the permanent victim gender. So strong and amazing and empowering.
Robbie and DiCaprio
Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio
Meryl and Dustin?
How about Robbie and Leto? Big budget film could hide the big payout.
Sharon Stone / Michael Douglas Basic Instinct
OR Basinger and Mickey Rourke 9 1/2 weeks, which is still a cult fave
https://www.nytimes.com/1986/03/09/movies/how-9-1-2-weeks-pushed-an-actress-to-the-edge.html
Ahhh a woman hater..so cute ☻
Anne Baxter and Vincent Price-10 Commandments
Damn Flip, who hurt you?
9.5 weeksni still one of my faves (preternaturally love that film), but Basinger hasn’t been A+/A in a looong Time. Former for sure and Rourkes not there either... well maybe once he transitions he can regain the rating with a remake playing Kim’s role😉
9 1/2 weeks with Michelle Rourke and Chaz Bono :)
Yes!!! I’m in...
“Slave to ❤️ Love -uh oh..Slave To Love... and I can’t escape I’m a Slave To Love...
And the Spring is turning-your new /transgendered face to mine...I can hear your laughter,I can see your smile😀🎼🎼🎼”
Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan on Fifty Shades if you're willing to accept Enty playing fast and loose with the ratings.
Or
Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman on Kramer vs Kramer but I don't know if it has sex scenes as I have never seen it.
Michelle Pfeiffer -- Mel Gibson, Tequila Sunrise
No sex scene in KvK. Streep got slapped by Hoffman, but she's been public about that.
I'm not sure anybody's actually gotten this yet. I don't know either but I think the key points here are:
1- Movie was popular at the time
2- Movie is just as popular now
3- Actress is more of a "name" than the actor
4- $10 million payout strongly suggests actress was already very well known at the time.
Julia Roberts/Richard Gere sounds like an excellent guess, but if it was during "Pretty Woman," how did "Runaway Bride" ever get made? I actually love both those movies. Christopher Meloni is so good in "Bride."
Lol! or a striptease to "You can leave your wig on..."
OR
Debra Winger/Richard Gere -- Officer and Gentleman
😂😂😂😂👍
Is Michelle Pfeiffer bigger than Mel Gibson? I would say no. Does anybody outside us film geeks even know what "Tequila Sunrise" is? I would say no.
Was Debra Winger A+? She should be, but I don't know that she is. Was she bigger than Richard Gere? I say no. Is "An Officer and a Gentleman" still well known? Maybe.
Margot Robbie and Leo.....could she walk out and demand $10m? She was an unknown at the time, and she spread her legs on camera in that role. Seems unlikely.
Maybe 9-1/2 weeks. Basinger bigger than Rourke, I guess. She's got the Oscar, he doesn't. Movie still has legs. She was enough of a "name" to demand $10 million. Maybe that's it.
2 thirds of the female human population have absolutely no rights at all, flip. What's a matter, cup cake? Are you one of those losers that think you're being "oppressed" because you're not legally allowed to own women like property anymore?
Debra Winger was A+ after Terms of Endearment. Could be her.
I like this guess. Winger was A+ at the time thanks to Urban Cowboy.
Woo hoo! When I guess the same as Tricia, I know I'm getting better at this!
Debra Winger/Richard Gere, An Officer and a Gentleman.
🙏🏻To collaboration 🥂
Gere & Roberts went on to make The Runaway Bride after that. I doubt if she would have worked with him again if she hated him so much.
Sharon Stone was supposedly already a known escort...its how she was discovered. And their sex scenes were REAL and consenual...allegedly.
Perhaps. She cried on film during their hotel room sex scene.
Sharon Stone and Billly Baldwin. She hated him enough to bite his tongue during love scenes. Doesn’t fit the description for the movie Sliver.
Julia Roberts and Nick Nokte had to film scenes separately on I love trouble,
I would say Jennifer grey and Patrick swayed but that would kill me. Plus the movie was made on only $6 million total.
So basically I have nothing that fits.
Top paid actresses in 2017 ( just to show how $10 million is probably on the back end of a deal or a typo and he meant $1 Mill):
Emma Stone ($26 Mill)
Jennifer Anniston (25.5 Mill)
Jennifer Lawrence ($24 Mill)
Melissa Mc Carthusian ($18 mil)
Mill Kunitz ($15.5 mil)
I know this movie was probably one from a while ago but if s
Top actresses are making these numbers now, $10 mil would be ridiculous money in the past.
Scarlett Johansson, Scott Bana, The Other Boleyn Girl
I agree with the Gere/Winger guess.
Sharon Stone/Billy Baldwin Silver?
That or Nick Nolte/Julia Robers
Several people beat me to it. I think it's Debra Winger and Richard Gere.
@ Viking Song...love your comment. Perfect.
Kathleen Turner and William Hurt
You gotta’ hate what you can’t get.
Some of these movies are decades old. An Officer and a Gentleman was 36 years ago. Wouldn't the description be many decades and not many years. Many years could be eight years ago. And the list of A+ actresses can't be that big. But I can't think of a movie with a sex scene that is still really popular.
And she famously hates Gere AND that movie, which she claims she's never watched.
Also, isn't there an old blind that said Gere was a rapist? If so, I'm on board with the Winger/Gere guess IF you are willing to accept that Enty meant the actreess was A+ back during the making of the film, not by today's standards.
+1
SMH
Thank goodness most in this crowd are reasonable.
Leo and Claire Danes in Romeo and Juliet
Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling in The Notebook
Isn't Richard Gere gay?
I always thought him and Cindy were fake
"extra 10 mil' to me connotes she was already getting close to that and the movie was big enough box office type draw to warrant it. 10 mil by O&G standards like 30 decades ago would have been HUGE HUGE crazy money wouldn't it?
So many guesses are great based on celeb feuds. But what actress could command $10mil EXTRA?
It can't be from that long ago unless the blind is adjusting for inflation. :)
Actresses who have earned over $10 per movie that I know of, in no particular order:
1) Julia Roberts
2) Cameron Diaz
3) Reese Witherspoon
4) Angelina Jolie
5) Jennifer Lawerence
6) Sandra Bullock
Possible over-$10 dollar actress earners:
1) Meryl Streep?
2) Ann Hathaway?
3) Jennifer Aniston?
J. Gray and P Swayze got along. She didn’t like him during Red Dawn bc he temained in character outside of filming, but he was the one to suggest her for DD and they got aling very well during filming. (He got annoyed at her, but they truly did get along.)
J. Roberts begged R. Gere to do Pretty Woman and afterward they wanted to work together again. When the opportunity for Runaway Bride came up, they jumped at the chance to work together again.
Reese and Phoenix
Debra Winger/Richard Gere.
Charlize and Tom Hardy-Mad Max Fury Road. She is A+ list and he is A list. There was probably a sex scene they filmed that didn’t make it into the final cut of the film
Emma Stone and Josh Brolin in Gamgster Squad?
Wow that was truly f£€ked up! I love that movie, but after reading that, I’m not sure I could watch again. Adrian Lyne did pursue her for the role, and she said in that interview she wanted to walk out so many times, so if she did demand more money, he would’ve agreed to it.
The Notebook. It's on a channel any given weekend night.
Ryan Gosling and Rachael McAdams. It was rumoured that they didn't get along.
Then again CDAN says she had his secret love child.
Halle Berry in Monster's Ball or Diane Lane in Unfaithful or Nicole Kidman in Eye Wide Shut :)
As much as I loath Ugly Woman Julia Roberts, I'd actually feel real sympathy for her if she had to be belly to belly with Nick Nolte in a scantily clad bed scene. He's basically a stinky stew bum ffs.

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/cl9sUmCRC_0/maxresdefault.jpg
It's Julia Roberts and Nick Nolte, the movie is "ILove Trouble". Julia is the only actress who had the clout to demand an extra 10 million.
Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy in Mad Max
😂 How could he resist????
No way she was paid $10 million back then and she was unknown at the time.
@Kay they recently made up she said she's forgiven him.
Trouble on the set. I Love Trouble costars Julia Roberts and Nick Nolte hated each other so much that they reportedly had to film their scenes separately and use stand-ins to create on-screen chemistry in the 1994 film. Roberts, who played Sabrina Peterson, later slammed Nolte (Peter Brackett) in The New York Times and said while he can be “charming and nice, he’s also completely disgusting.” She also revealed that the costars “sort of gave each other a hard time.” Nolte acknowledged the dig and said, “It’s not nice to call someone ‘disgusting.’ But she’s not a nice person. Everyone knows that."
From US magazine
@Melvin That seems like a REALLY GOOD guess! It's not any secret that Hoffman was absolute trash to Streep during the filming of K v. K, so why wouldn't it extend to sexual violence as well?
"the movie which did very well and continues to do well many years after its release"
So we are looking for an iconic move. There are a lot of guesses that simply don't meet this criteria.
I thought this was an old blind that was revealed to be Patrick Dwayne and Jennifer Grey. Which I didn’t buy only because I don’t consider her an a+ and seems out of character for Swayze. But who knows.
I love trouble was not a hit then and is not now. Kramer vs Kramer or An Officer And A Gentleman were both hugely popular movies
Basinger and Mickey Rourke 9 1/2 weeks, which is still a cult fave
I think gauloise got it with this one. Tequila Sunrise isn't exactly a household title as far as movies go. 9.5 weeks made a longer-lasting impression, and we all know the blind about how poorly Mickey Rourke treated Carre Otis.
We have an 'ince' in the house. (No such thing btw.)
Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant, Notting Hill. The $10 million indicates it has to be a really big name, and Hugh is a big old freak.
The problem with 9 1/2 weeks is the entire budget for the movie was $17 million. Rather than paying Kim off, they would have just recast Mickey's role.
The essence of this one may be right, but there is literally no female lead actress that could demand and get an extra "$10M" for something like this. There's not a male actor that could either.
Just saying the money part is BS, in amount at least.
Could be that the actress demanded $10 million and received less, though enough to satisfy her.
This was in the past long before METoo.
Given how paranoid straight men are about gays, I'd love to see what would happen if straight men were suddenly being physically invaded by fingers, dicks and hands left and right. Talk about victims and babies. Women have been putting up with disgusting men for eons.
Jennifer Gray and Patrick Swayze. Dirty Dancing.
I'm thinking 9 1/2 weeks. Maybe adjusted for inflation the amount would equal $10 million...?
This is a fascinating one.
- A+ list mostly movie actress that can lead a film (otherwise they'd have recasted her role instead of giving in to her demands + the extra $10M)
- A list mostly movie actor
- Movie that did very well and continues to do well many years after its release
- More than one love scene in the film
Witherspoon / Phoenix / Walk The Line (2005)
- Both have done TV
- BUT they worked together again on Inherent Vice (2014)
Winger / Gere / An Officer and a Gentleman (1982)
- Both have done TV
- In a 2002 interview with The Guardian she remarks "I run in to Richard Gere quite a lot and he half jokes: 'Are you still saying terrible things about me?' We had a moment in our life which was not good, but everyone has to get it into perspective." Doubt she'd be saying that about sexual assault.
Witherspoon / Vaughn / Four Christmases (2008)
- Not an iconic film; I couldn't even remember a movie they were in together and had to go research.
Danes / DiCaprio / Romeo+Juliet (1996)
- Not an iconic film.
- I don't think Danes was ranked higher than DiCaprio at the time, nor do I think they would have given in to her demands. Probably would have just recasted the film.
- According to Wikipedia, she did turn down the lead in Titanic, though. Interesting.
Young / Ford / Blade Runner (1982)
- I don't think they would have given in to Sean's demands either, and while they didn't like each other, I don't think this is them.
Hunter / Keitel / The Piano (1993)
- Never heard about any animosity between them, and while this was an impeccable film, I don't know if it qualifies as a movie that "continues to do well many years after its release".
Still baffled! But Winger/Gere is the closest I can guess. Maybe Basinger/Rourke as well.
Many people are missing one very important clue:
"She has never let anyone doubt how much she hates him"
Therefore, she, an (currently) A+ list mostly movie actress has presumably been very vocal about her loathing/hatred of said (currently) A list mostly movie actor co-star.
Combine this with the "got several demands met including an extra $10M"...given only the absolute top acrtresses can even command $10MM/8 figures per role TODAY, this can't have been TOO long ago unless, again as previously noted, it's a typo/exaggeration/"adjusting for inflation".
Combine all that with the multiple love scenes AND most importantly, that the movie did very well and continues to do well many years after its release, I would dial it back into this millennium as far as guesses go.
Based on all of that, Notebook would be my guess, although I thought Ryan Gosling was (A) en fuego and (B) rated an A+ here on CDaN. LOTS of articles about how they hated each other on and off set.
No chance in hell could Julia Roberts have commanded that additional amount for Pretty Woman, which came out in 1990 IIRC and was the movie that made her career/made her a superstar...she was pretty minor/supporting up until then. Plus, why would she have worked with Gere again if this is true?
Same with Debra Winger and Jennifer Grey, I mean even accounting for the ratings mismatches, these were far too long ago where $10 million would have been akin to asking for $100 million or more.
Most if not all of the other movie guesses are just plain terrible and don't even come close to fitting the clue "did very well and CONTINUES TO DO VERY WELL MANY YEARS AFTER ITS RELEASE"...of the guesses, only Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing, and The Notebook fit. Even An Officer & a Gentleman doesn't fit that.
Itttt, I have a feeling some of that may have (successfully) played into their heated on-screen chemistry, their love/hate relationship on-screen, but it doesn't make sense then why she'd actually date him for three years afterwards, unless that was all a smokescreen. The leap-into-his-arms-kiss-passionately bit at the MTV Movie Awards would have been something she would have refused to do if she really hated the guy.
Either that, or she's a much, MUCH better actress than I ever gave her credit for.
The $10M is a dealbreaker on some of the guesses, I completely agree. However, I also think that may have busted your guess, because I think they would have let Rachel McAdams walk rather than hand her another $10M. This movie made her, as well as Gosling. But it would have made another actress too. She did this film before she did Mean Girls, so she wasn't even a hot commodity yet. However, I'll contradict myself here and mention that the Wikipedia article for The Notebook indicates that even Gosling admitted the film really revolves around McAdams and she was pivotal for the success of the film. Her reported salary for the film was only $500k. I just can't make this one click on all fronts.
It's Halle Berry BB Thorton. Monsters Ball. Definitely.
Interesting guess. Who was the bigger star then, Halle or BB?
Is Monster's Ball still a hit?
Naw Gere and Roberts was in a consenual relationship
