Blind Items Revealed #4

May 23, 2018

This foreign born A list dual threat actor who also moonlights a superhero is under a lot of stress right now in that ummm relationship he has and he got into a tussle with the paps which he has never done that I know of in the history of his career. They smell blood in the water.

Benedict Cumberbatch/Sophie Hunter

  1. The Cumberbatch blinds are getting as boring as Infinity War.

  2. Dr Strange is so bleh. I'd rather watch him try to say "penguin" for 2 hours.

    How about him saying "schedule"?

  4. I don't get how this is a blind. There was a video of him and the pap.

Unless Enty is hinting at trouble in paradise in the Cumberbatch household with his "blood in the water" quip. By the way, didn't Sophie Hunter change her name, according to an earlier blind? Why isn't she listed as Sophie Cumberbatch?

  5. They seemed pretty happily married at that Stones concert the other night.

  6. Because of this blind, they had to play showmance again at the museum and Stones live last week.

  7. Benedict is a very camp man but what you'll find in my country is that those who are lucky (at times unlucky) enough to go to very high end schools like Benedict (the name speaks volumes!) are quite camp and it does not necessarily mean they are gay. He has a lot of gay friends and is open about his campness....I don't believe he's gay and I have met a lot of these types over the years. I may be wrong!

  8. Benedict and his agent picked the wrong person for this showmance. She can't even act like she loves him. And I saw that video on youtube, weird how the pap cared so much for the wife when Benedict just walk straight ahead. Maybe she's the one who called the pap.

  9. Stones concert pics- if we go by just those, he's in a happily married relationship with Woody Harrelson too.

  10. Rumor I heard is Eddie Redmayne and BC are a couple & even coordinated their beards/kids to be at the same time.

Eddie picked a college friend who is a PR agent for his beard, while BC picked someone overqualified/not the right temperament to play this part.

Sophie is an accomplished theatre and opera director, playwright and former performer and probably doesn't take to playing the PR beard game. BC also seems a lot less personable in interviews since his Dr. Strange role...

    1. What opera has she directed and what exactly is a theatre director? All I know is NYC theatre has her marked as a fraud. I've yet to find an actual credit for anything she's 'directed'.

  12. @Amy, fascinating, I don't think we have a general understanding of straight camp men here in the U.S., maybe the closest we've come is "metro"

    1. We do have quite a few camp men here! I have been wrong to assume a few were gay, actually they were womanisers in all honesty. I actually think the more macho a man tries to be these days they're likely to be hiding something.

  13. What t242 said. What opera? What theatre beyond her own vanity projects?

    Enquiring minds want to know.

  14. I don't get a gay vibe from BC at all. He acts a bit...feminine sometimes, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

  15. @amy casey I'm not familiar with the term "camp man" but I'm reading the Lord Peter Wimsey series at the moment. Is he the type of man you mean?

I never got a gay vibe from Cumberbatch.

    Redmayne OTOH...

    1. We say 'camp' a lot. Not to be unpleasant but if a man is quite flamboyant and has a few mannerisms we usually associate with a woman,I would say that he is 'a bit camp.' Some men are absolutely fine with it if they're comfortable in their own skin. A lot of posh men can come across this way.

  16. Sophie Cumberbatch is her legal name, Sophie Hunter is still her professional name. She most recently directed The Turn of the Screw opera back in 2015. She hasn't done much work since she got married and had two kids, she's married to a millionaire, why should she? Remember when we placed value on one parent of a two parent family staying home with young children?

I agree that Benedict is very camp. He's two different people when he's just being himself vs when he senses there is a camera on him, even just a random person with a mobile phone. He's also very different by himself vs when she is with him, he's tense, over-protective, almost paranoid. I think she's been threatened by his fans, perhaps more than once.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The definition of professional is "engaged in a specified activity as one's main paid occupation rather than a pastime" so I guess having directed one professional opera, I'll agree she's a professional opera director.

What other professional things has she done under her professional name? I'm just curious. I'd think being Sophie Cumberbatch would open more doors than being Sophie Hunter would. But she's probably well known in her professional circle, so it wouldn't make much difference.

  18. Oh, I know she's been threatened by her fans. So have friends and co workers of hers. Cumberbatch's fans are possibly the craziest fans on the planet- well, not all of them, of course, but there's quite the little cadre of demented Hunter haters. Recently they've insisted that she was in jail (let out to do the rare red carpet appearance), that she's a human trafficker and drug dealer, that her entire family consists of felons, that she has numerous diagnosed psychiatric disorders that have somehow been leaked to the fans,- let's see, what else? There's plenty more. Some of these fans also promote anti semitic conspiracies, and believe in David Ickes theories that the world is run by lizard people. I'm completely serious. Reading their stuff is scary, albeit hilarious. They post on Tumblr( of course). oddly enough, they're not teens- the three main nutcases are women in their 40s. They harass Hunter's friends on twitter, etc. etc. Wackadoodle.

  19. Why doesn’t his people address the issue, though?

I’ve never understood that. I get that you’re not supposed to acknowledge stalkers (they make things worse, especially if you’re dealing with a narcissitic stalker who feels entitled to attention).

But one thing I’ve noticed is, his people wouldn’t even clear up a misunderstanding (like when someone was pretending to be him on Twitter and catfishing women who then went crazy when he got engaged). So the catfished girl ended up looking like te crazy one.

It’s almost as if they WANT Benedict Cumberbatch to be seen as having “crazy fans”. You hear about “manufactured girlbands/boybands” all the time, but then what about “manufactured crazy fans”, it’s almost like they ‘cultivate’ the crazies to reinforce the idea that he has a Beatlemania-like fandom going on.

And all this going to see the Stones? You just know the skeptics on Tumblr are just going to draw connections with Jerry Hall and the “it wasn’t a marriage if it wasn’t registered in the UK” Balinese wedding ceremony thing, right? Then there was the time he talked to Vanity Fair about how “some people think my ‘marriage’ is a PR arrangement”. Like, why would you acknowledge that? Just ignore it. Why keep teasing the crazies? Serious question.

Again, I don’t think it’s wise to acknowledge stalkers, but one of those fans thinks she’s meant to be with him because he “eye-fucked” her at a Comic-Con (which to my understanding, you can’t even see the audience from a stage when the lights are on—although IDK what the set-up is like at a con because I’ve never been to one). And she’s not only harassing the “wife”, but also her family members (which, I dislike his “wife”, but I think her family should be off-limits) and also harassing other fans. I mean seriously, there’s got to be a limit to these things...

After seeing how his UK agents cleared-up a misunderstanding related to a fake Helena Bonham-Carter Twitter account but never announced that any Twitter account claiming to be Benedict Cumberbatch is fake and catfishing women (which ruined a lot of people’s lives too), I’m starting to think his people (agents, PR) WANT fans to act crazy.

  20. As Amy said above, camp doesn't mean gay. It just means camp. I think with Cumberbatch it's just because he's a theatre guy and likes to be a little bit dramatic and flamboyant.

If you want to know what Hunter has done professionally, you can google her. I only brought up Turn of the Screw because I was supposed to see it and I was disappointed when I had to miss it.

Yes Alice, that little cadre of demented Hunter haters have quite a reputation outside their little tumblr bubble. I like your phrase for them. They are roundly mocked by people inside the industry, as are similar subsets of fans for other celebrities, but I hear they think that people fear them. Nobody fears them, they are mostly viewed as sad, pathetic, and desperate for attention, whether they are spreading lies about Armie Hammer, or David Tennant or Jensen Ackles.

  21. Hey Scandi Sanskrit why is "wife" in quote marks, and why do you dislike her? Did you have a personal encounter with her? You seem to follow them closely. Why would Cumberbatch need to cultivate a group of fans who believe in lizard people, doesn't he have a massive following that shows up anywhere in the world for him? Have the Cumberbitches faded away because Sherlock ended?

    1. What “lizard people”? Last time I visited those skeptic blogs was before they started talking about human-trafficking (which I found out about on CDAN).

Anyway, I don’t know about any lizard people. But why isn’t anything being done about the dangerous fans? Why aren’t they addressing it. I’m not saying he doesn’t have LEGIT fangirls who GENUINELY love him. But why are the particularly dangerous ones not being addressed?

I TOTALLY believe Enty’s blind item about how they’re following people’s IP adresses, by the way. I know because one of them set up to that site. Apparently that fan tracks IP adresses visiting that site (my guess is because she’s expecting certain people to see it, maybe IDK). Well anyway, during that time I’d

  22. Cumberbatch has addressed it personally- mentioning the crazy fans who think his "marriage is a publicity stunt". I think his people generally give those demented fans what they so richly deserve - they ignore them. I know a couple of them have been banned from being at a con where he was speaking.. I included the "Lizard People" thing because Aeltrileaf (the wackiest of the crew), likes to quote David Ickes who is a holocaust denier who also believes the world is run by lizard people. Aeltri is a raging anti semite, and has never met a conspiracy theory that she doesn't like. Pizzagate, NWO, the whole gamut of wackiness. She's hilarious. They're just some lonely ladies who have nothing better to do than spread rumors about Cumberbatch's wife. Seems to me they need to find some volunteer jobs to fill up all that time.

  23. Oh,also, I've never heard about that "catfishing" thing, but nothing would surprise me at this point. Also, arguing with conspiracy theorists of any stripe is pointless, because they immediately assume you're part of the conspirators if you challenge them. It's very narcissistic. They think they are actually important enough for people to try to deceive them. It's actually very sad. They're probably reading this right now and assuming I'm Sophie Hunter. They do that. They think that woman up there in the comments- Sally- is Hunter. It's more likely one of them. They really have an awful lot of free time. It's fascinating.

    1. I’m guessing when you say “lizard people”, you’re not talking about a type of personality of people who would take reptiles/amphibians as pets like a “dog/cat person”?

Anyway, I think the catfishing thing never gained traction because teh people involved were super embarrassed that they fell for it (and weren’t the type to sell a story to the Daily Mail or something—if they were, they would’ve been shot down ASAP with Benedict disowning that person right away instead of dragging on for years).

Also, I think the catfishing actually had very little to do with Benedict Cumberbatch (it seemed more like something personal—the perp knew the targets ‘type’ and just unfortunately happened to use his identity, ONLY IMPLIED although eventually you piece together the info and it adds up). I still think the perpetrators were trying to kidnap the girl. After the engagement was announced, the catfisher stopped contacting the victim. Looks like they didn’t know what to do now that the REAL Benedict Cumberbatch had just announced an engagement. Of course the duped girl felt “ghosted” and betrayed. Anyway, looks like the perpetrator was sort of following Cumberbatch news too because since the DM started running that story about the Victorian house, teh catfishing started all over again, this time trying to lure the victim to move to... the US, though? Which is weird because taht house was in London IIRC. I’m convinced it was a kidnapping plan (but it had actually little to do with Cumberbatch at all).

Still, it would’ve been nice if his people debunked the whole thing and discredited the Twitter account like they did with Helena Bonham-Carter.

The whole thing was just stupid...

    2. Wow! That is bizarre! But lately nothing surprises me.

      Delete
    3. The level of bizarre can’t ever match the level of humiliation of the whole ordeal...

What’s even more bizarre, though, is nobody could think of a motive. The catfishing started while a family member ran for office, but then continued after the elections were over (and her family member didn’t even win). Abruptly stopped and started again after the house news. I guess people are just sick sadists and enjoy seeing others suffer.

Anyway, take care everyone. Don’t fall for any catfishers. There are tones of psychos on the Interwebs. 💛

  24. As someone who has worked in sound production in the NYC theatre scene off and on for a decade and some change, it is a bold faced lie to suggest Sophie has ever been a professional or had any form of a theatre career. At leas in NYC. If she wants to be a stay at home mom, thats wonderful. I wish all women had that choice if its what they want, but I would challenge anyone on this thread claiming that she has ever had a career to list her work in NYC from 2005 onward. Im sorry, but a career is not 2-5 productions in over a decade. A career is a continuous, steady stream of work. Women like her, in theatre anyway, are a dime a dozen. Every year we get a new crop of women flitting in, putting in no time, usually quitting the production after a few days of work. Some of them never actually work on the production, they just know someone who does and they "visit" for an afternoon. Suddenly you see them at parties and there are quotes floating around about their involvement. She isn't the first and she won'tt the last, she is just one who married someone famous, so rather than her exaggerations and lies stopping in trades circles, its on slightly bigger gossip sites.

  25. Why do people keep saying “bold faced lie” when the actual expression is “bald faced lie”? Btw, hi Aeltri. So now you work in theater as well as being a “brand ambassador” and an interpreter? How do you commute to NYC from The Bay Area? How dreadfully exhausting!!!

  26. This comment section is gold. One one hand, we have lizard people, on another hand we have professional beards, on another hand we have catfish, on another hand we have fluffed resumes, on another hand we have haters, on another hand we have opera.

That is a lot of hands.

Keep going. This is the best thing I've read in weeks. I'm fascinated.

  27. David Icke's "Lizard People" are not people who prefer lizards (not that there's anything wrong with that), but actual Lizards, disguised as people, who are taking over the world. Beware, your next door neighbor could be one. At any rate, the most psychotic of the Hunter Haters, Aeltri, is a big fan of his- especially his holocaust denying antisemitic bullshit. She quotes and reblogs him on her tumblr account frequently, which is , in turn, quoted and reblogged by another Hunter Hater, a 48 year old woman who calls her self GatorFisch. These people are not at all well. #BewareTheLizardLadies

  29. @snifter- it's utterly fascinating to watch. It's crazier, and not as much fun as the old "Paul Is Dead" conspiracy theory. The hilarious thing about it, is that its believers also believe in every half -assed conspiracy theory on the web. I am fascinated by conspiracy theorists, possibly because I'm a retired psych nurse, and because I have way too much time on my hands. I should get a better hobby. Any suggestions?

  31. All security experts agree that stalkers should never be acknowledged in any way, unless police action is deemed essential. For Benedict or his people to make any kind of public statement could actively endanger his wife and kids because stalkers treat any form of acknowledgement as encouragement. I'm sure the crazies are being carefully monitored and that Ben has appropriate security to protect himself and his family from Gator and Aelteri and the rest of them (I know the latter at least is banned from any event Ben does).
