Blind Item #5

This A- list initialed rapper/wannabe actor publicly admitted this weekend that he cheats on his wife but expects her to stick with him. He probably also expects her to be faithful. Well, he is going to be a bit disappointed with that one.

  2. I thought this was already a blind.

The Bohemian Rhapsody trailer is out and it is awesome! I heard the film was crap though.

Who is this Lars von Trier person? People walked out on his film because it showed women & children being mutilated. One person called it Satanic. For some reason von Trier got a standing ovation...

    1. Bohemian Rhapsody looks visually spot-on. The actors, sets, costumes are perfect facsimiles, but... as for substance? That remains to be seen. Visuals might be all they have going for them.

That is why Sascha Baron Cohen left the project. A lot of sources report the movie offers nothing new. From what I can recall Cohen said the remaining band members were rewriting and sanitizing history. He also claimed one of them said the best part of the movie is when Freddie dies. Cohen didn't reveal who said this but my money is on Brian May.

    3. I’m just not buying it, visually. Maybe because i’m old enough to remember Freddie Mercury. I don’t think it’s time yet. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    4. Lars Von Trier is considered by many to be a cinematic genius. He’s also a terrible person.

It’s tough not to see the whole walking out thing as a commentary more on Von Trier than the film. The movie’s about a serial killer. If they didnt walk out of American Psycho, it’s not about the movie.

  3. Google Bjork and Lars if you want to get a sense of what kind of beast some people think he is.

Thanks. I skimmed the articles. From what I gather, Bjork said he sexually harassed her, punished her for rejecting him, and orchestrated things to make himself look like the victim.

Other articles say he hates women.

Now I understand why Dancer In The Dark and I've Seen It All were so depressing.

  4. Yeah he got a standing ovation from the people who didn't walk out. It's like saying the people who didn't hate your movie liked it.

It is obvious some people stayed to see the entire film because they liked it. That should have gone without saying.

My point is why did those people like a film that others called Satanic? Why did those people like a film that depicted women and children being cut to pieces on camera?

    2. Again, the movie is about a serial killer. Many movies depict extreme violence. I’m not a fan.
I believe the walkout was because of Von Trier, not because of the film’s content.

  5. Lars made a comment at Cannes years ago likening himself to a Nazi or something along that line. It was deemed inappropriate and they kicked him out of the festival for years. This is the first year they let him back in, so I’m sure the clapping is more for his return after being absent for so many years. He probably could have thrown any old footage of people getting offed on the screen and he would have had people stand and clap.

    1. Yes, he was banned.
I see the reverse - that the walkout was to protest the lifting of the ban (which was a stupid thing to do) and not about the film at all.
      But what do we know?

    2. Is it not common for people to clap @ the end of most of the movies that play @ Cannes ? Idk, I thought maybe just because the people who made & starred in the movie are prominently on display there, the audience would do it most times

  6. At Cannes, going to a showing specifically so that you can walk out and make a big deal of it is apparently a thing. Lars von Trier may be the worst person in the world, but everyone knows what his movies are like by this point.

Seems like some people have a one-way ticket to hell and they don't care.

As for von Trier, I never heard of him until today. From what I have discovered I would rather watch The Human Centipede.

    +1

Everyone knows von Trier movies are going to be extreme and disturbing for many. Myself, I can't do the hand-held camera thing so Yay! I can't watch most his movies without puking.

But I did make it through Melancholia and thought it was fantastic. From what I've read of his other movies, I probably wouldn't care for them except in discussion.

Wise move. Von Trier creates shock that sticks in the mind, forever. That is probably his whole point. For the sake of your/my nervous system, best to forego it. Even reading about his films can be a trigger, honestly.

    But I did love Melancholia.

This blesses me, thank you. I am sensitive to these kinds of things so I will be sure to take your advice.

    Everyone stay blessed!

  13. I've been wanting to see Melancholia, the trailer looked cool.
I love Matt Dillon, but I watched the preview for the House That Jack Built..... A little boy snips off a fuzzy yellow ducklings feet and tosses him in the lake. It hurt my heart for the rest of the day. I don't think I could watch this movie.

    1. Ugh, even a written description of that is just so wrong. I don't even wanna imagine trying to watch a graphic visual depiction of it, as I type words about it and make it stick in my memory even more

  14. Nope, nope, nope, won't be watching that!

Thanks for sharing so I avoid it. No thanks for sharing that image, out out out, need some kittens and puppies now.

Kirsten Dunst is wonderful in Melancholia. It is such a kind, warm in a sorrowful way, take on mental illness and what its social purpose might be. It's a movie that builds slowly. There is a real plot point for having such a languid rhythm which you will figure out by the end.

  15. F*cking torture porn again, animal cruelty should never be tolerated or embraced. What kind of sick f*ck would write that scene?

  16. What kind of sick f*ck could write that sh!t, oh this POS:

" Seemingly joking, Von Trier announced himself to be a Nazi, after expressing sadness that he hadn't been born Jewish. As the atmosphere became increasingly tense, and Melancholia stars such as Kirsten Dunst sought to staunch his flow, Von Trier continued: "What can I say? I understand Hitler. He did some wrong things, absolutely, but I can see him sitting there in his bunker at the end ... I sympathise with him, yes, a little bit." "

  17. It seems that Lars wants attention for the worst of the human conditions, I think, from the reviews I'm reading. He is describing the world and mindset of the Incel or Red Pill male (I think, again, based on the reviews.)

The way it speaks to all of us is it took us all some time to realize that we, as children, were torturing animals in our attempts to "play" or figure them out. Wanna know what's going to send me to hell, even though I don't believe in hell? Right, things I can't even speak that no one stopped me from doing as a little kid. Awful.

So that was probably the purpose of that scene, maybe. On the other hand, von Trier is using horrible scenes to bring attention to himself and his obviously blighted mind. Enough already. Fuck him.

  18. Fuck this guy.People who go to his movies are complicit in this garbage.

  24. I liked Dancer In The Dark until the camera work had me lying on the bathroom floor dry heaving. It pissed me off, too, because it was such an interesting story and the sets were fantastic.

Same thing happened in Breaking the Waves, but I forced myself to watch since I love Emily Watson. I was dizzy for two days but it's a great film.

  25. I see people struggle with context. The reason people didn't walk out of American Psycho is because it was a portrayal of a serial killer and, in the end, you're not sure if he actually did the murders or if he simply imagined it all. More importantly, the victims had different backgrounds, genders and personalities. In LVT's film, all the female victims are one note obnoxious characters who "emasculate men," implying they deserved to be murdered. Also, no one wants to see kids being murdered (American Psycho omitted the infamous child killing scene from the novel). Whether LVT is commenting on the rise of violent misogyny amongst *some*, NOT all, millennial males (MGTOW, Red Pill, Roosh and his pro rape acolytes, Alt-Right, INCEL - a member of which recently killed a number of women and an elderly man in Canada) or supporting it remains to be seen.

  26. Wouldn't it be cool to attend and find out?

Cannes is one event to see, I bet.

    @Viking Song

American Psycho had a dream-like quality, like every hedge managers' nightmare/wish fulfillment. The sets were something out of de Chirico, and Bale's diction was so (wonderfully) off kilter, that it rang absurd from the beginning.

LVT is too real, as real as a sick mind can be inside a warped society. It's unsure whether he is trying to shock people or relieve himself of burdens, especially in these latest films. If his intent is to show the collective Red Pill mind, that might be something to talk about, as a society, but how much is LVT enjoying his images personally or enjoying the triggering of the rest of us. Maybe he is simply a big old troll. I don't think he wants to start discussions. Maybe he wants to investigate the extremes of human nature? IDK. But I won't be seeing this one (or the last several which all sound vile.)
