Blind Item #1 - Reader Blind

He was one of the first to arrive at the scene, and it was a scene he had witnessed several times before, but never with someone of this person's age.

You see: back in the day, before this world famous host classed it up, she swam in the same waters as the others, always trying to do a show more outrageous than the last. The one in question was on the theme of Parental Concern (which was the usual way of deflecting criticism about certain topics), and it involved a practice allegedly popular with bored and risk-taking teens. I remember watching this episode myself, boys on stage with their dads talking not just about a generally uncomfortable subject, but one that featured this added element.

Apparently after this episode aired there were copycat cases across the country, including at least two boys in this posh town basically across the water from a coastal city - the same place the celeb lived and died.

  3. Auto-erotic strangulation?

  4. So an older celeb who died of auto-erotic strangulation?

  5. I still don’t get it, but I was thinking about that “passing out game” as I was just reading about it yesterday. I don’t understand if the “host” and “celeb” are the same person? Love reader blinds but this is confusing and vague.

  6. Scratch that guess. Doesn't make sense, does it?

    1. No, I was thinking Oprah but she’s not dead. I don’t understand the clues.

  7. Different topic:

Could this be the bodyguard that went into hiding in the recent blind referencing the 3-floor penthouse?

  8. I half expect the next reader blind to be something like "This A+ actor did something I saw with my own eyes."

  9. Is it Frantisek Kotzwara?

On September 2, 1791 while he was in London, Kotzwara visited a prostitute named Susannah Hill in Vine Street, Westminster. After dinner with her in her lodgings, Kotzwara paid her two shillings and requested that she cut off his testicles. Hill refused to do so. Kotzwara then tied a ligature around the doorknob, the other end fastened around his neck, and proceeded to have sexual intercourse with Hill. After it was over, Kotzwara was dead. His is one of the first recorded deaths from erotic asphyxiation.

  10. Is the dead celebrity at the end supposed to be the world famous host who had the segment? If not I'm thinking Oprah with the choking game, otherwise we're looking for some dead host.

  11. Clearly, this blind is written by the @ghost of Frantisek

  12. Perhaps Joan Rivers with The Joan Rivers Show?

It’s a new kind of blind: instead of guessing who did what, we try to figure out WTF the submitter is even trying to say.

Subject is autoerotic asphyxiation. Dead crleb is David Carradine. Died in Thailand.

Most likely teens in Thailand were copycatting it after seeing it on some trashy daytime talk show. Still working out thr host.

    1. I think it says... once somebody did something and then something else happened. There were copycats and boys and even fathers talked to someone. It was close to water and there was a city involved and a posh town.

  17. Oprah, auto-erotic asphyxiation, a celeb who came across a body of a young guy who died doing it. The celeb lived and later died in the same place (not necessarily by masturhanging himself), which is across the water from a coastal city.

  19. " Reader Blind - UQ (Usual Quality)

My neighbor resembles this A list actor who was A+ in his day with a hit show, then became B+ for a while with a weak show, but then A with a better show (still not as good as his first show) and then briefly A+ again but not for long. Actually, you know what? My neighbor doesn't really look like him at all. "

  23. Summary:

Someone with a belt around their neck wrote a blind about watching a talk show with boys talking about autoerotic asphyxiation. Don't kick the chair. The End.

  24. Oprah is the host. She frequently had sexuality explicit show for"educational " purposes. Howard Stern called her out when his show was censored for less. Deaths were caused by copycats who first heard it on her show. But the celebrity at the end? Needs another clue, it likely wasn't reported as auto erotic asphyxiation.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oprah, Sally Jesse Raphael, Ricki Lake? Probably Oprah as she was just as much into the drama as the others than changed her show to be more "classy". Probably a subject on auto erotic asphyxiation. celebrity??

    ReplyDelete
  26. Joan Rivers? She had her own talk show with a lot of outrageous guests, and she died where she lived.

  27. The Oprah episode aired May,1988. Was the celebrity death around that time as well?

  28. Coastal city is San Francisco, Tiburon is across the water. So Robin Williams for celebrity?

  30. Reader blind;

Once while I was hitting a bucket of balls at the range I noticed this striking fellow who was well know for his over aged play.
I approached him with what was left of my balls and offered them to him and he gladly accepted.
I then remarked that all of us in our age group were proud of him and he replied with a smile.

  31. Ricki Lake show could get trashy in the 90s, and she classed up her image in the 2000s .

I give this reader blind a D. Off topic, Sequencing out of order. Pronouns not referencing who "he" was and switching from third person to first. Lack of details; doesn't draw the reader in.

  35. There’s lots of insane things that kids dumb as bricks do. Strangulation, swallowing tablespoons of cinnamon, eating tide pods, smoking bath salts, snorting grandmas oxy, shoving a handful of marshmallows in your mouth and choking on them, train surfing, bus skateboarding, sticking their tools in people’s ears. Now tell me everyone needed to get a participant trophy. These kids are fucked up

  41. I believe this refers to Robin Williams death, and they covered up the auto erotic asphyxiation. Enty had a blind about Robin going to the emergency room for an embarrassing incident.

  42. Yes! Tiburon for the rich town where Robin lived, and two kids died there sometime after that Oprah show. +1 Guesser

  44. It's Oprah, clearly, and I can believe auto-erotic strangulation.

"The celeb who died" is referencing the first sentence of the BI--"He was one of the first to arrive at the scene...", not the world famous host.

Other than that clarification, I got nothing. Have no idea who the celeb could be, nor in what coastal city they lived in.

    ReplyDelete
  45. So really this is just a bad account of something that just happened to occur not far from where a celeb lived and died?? Cool story bro 🤦🏽‍♀️

  46. I hate reader blinds too! I always read the comments first to see if I want to even bother with the story.

  47. So do the readers who submit reader blinds read the comments about how much folks hate reader blinds? And does that hate inspire submission of even more reader blinds? I don't hate them or anything, just wondering what the mentality is on this.
