This permanent A list mostly movie actor who was a recent Academy Award winner/nominee is stepping into a very recent controversy by telling this A list couple they need to clear his "second wife" or he will make life difficult for the A list couple. He is one of the very few who could do that.

I love Beyonce but I think her people told Tiffany Haddish to make this up so her name would be in the papers...Haddish is over-rated. Watched her last night in Girls Trip and I couldn't understand half of what marble-mouth was saying...

ReplyDelete@Donna Marie - I absolutely agree that this reeks of Beyonce trying to get publicity over something fake. I also think the whole elevator debacle with Solange was planted PR, too.

How long have Denzel and Sanaa been a thing? I used to think he was a great guy. Guess he really is just a great actor.

DeleteIt was getting ridiculous with Beyonce's followers threatening and stalking Sanaa on social media, especially if Sanaa was innocent. Denzel generally has the calm demeanor where he'd like to be your friend and get along but he'd also be willing to smash your face in with a brick if you pushed him. He wouldn't want to, but he wouldn't lose sleep over it either.

ReplyDeleteI'm actually surprised Sanaa isn't a bigger star. I remember first seeing her in "Love & Basketball" and thinking she had "It" on screen like few actresses. Everything I've seen her in, I've liked her.

For being anything from persistently annoying (they spent months camped out on an attorney friend's lawn staring at his house at all hours because he had the nerve to take on as a client someone who created a mirror website of someone else's website that disclosed the churches 'trade secrets' (I shit you not, this was their legal case of action, theft of trade secrets, and yet somehow they have a tax exemption, go figure) back in the 1990s, to downright malicious to their own (Sea Org people all over the globe).

DeleteTiff probably just screwed her own career out of all of this. She's almost 40 & has been at this a long time, gone within a week because of her big mouth. I actually don't think it was Shana, just that's what everyone thinks. Shana was supposed to be the next it girl after Love & Basketball in the 90's, but it never panned out.

ReplyDeleteSanaa was on Nip/Tuck for one season. Her movies aren't bad. She comes from money. I think she earned an MFA from Yale Drama School.
ReplyDeleteI'm just gonna say it. I do not expect white people to know who she is because I do not expect them to watch films made specifically for the black demographic. That doesn't mean some white people don't know her. What I am saying is don't feel bad if you don't know her.
Yeah, as I mentioned above, she was a Kerry Washington-type of black actress...well-known to the black American community, but with enough cross-over/sex appeal to be frequently cast opposite white men. She's a serious actress...by which I mean even in comedies she plays a straight person. So, I literally cannot imagine her doing any of the things I've been hearing lately.

ReplyDeleteI'm surprised she hasn't had a bigger career as well. I remember seeing "Something New" in the theaters and liking it quite a bit, and her chemistry with Simon Baker was fun.
ReplyDeleteOf course, when I went to the ticket counter to purchase my ticket, I told the gentleman "I'd like to see 'Something New'." He replied "Well, we have lots of new features out right now..."
If there were a way to post an appropriate meme showing skepticism I would. Having an affair or not, this seems like some shit show DW wouldn't have time for. I mean, shouldn't he be using that kind of power to give her a better career instead of defending her from Twitter trolls?
ReplyDeleteHonestly, even if she's not his mistress, I can see him trying to defend her. You might not be familiar with her, but before this incident, she had a pretty low profile and was respected in the black community as a smart, attractive LADY. Just last year, she had a TV series called Shots Fired which was acclaimed (she won a Black Reel award and the show won an Image award) for its timeliness and treatment of social justice issues. Even if they are just friends, Denzel might have wanted to minimize any damage to Sanaa's reputation from the incident (as he is probably the most powerful "friend" she has). I know that for me, if only a quarter of the stuff coming out about her now is verifiably true, I'm very disappointed.
DeleteThe point you made about how he could have better helped her career is interesting because a lot of people, myself included, were surprised that her career pretty much plateaued in the late-00s. This incident has sparked some more concrete speculation.
