Blind Item #8 - Direct To Video - A Reader Blind Item
This C-list slasher producer and director, let's call him LP, had a few trashy straight-to-VHS horror films in the 1990s and early 2000s. Today, LP runs an online horror film studio that's a cover for dark fetishes involving young and often under aged actors. These movies, mostly short vignettes, are poorly acted, written and directed, but always seem to involve one of the following fetish topics for his perverted audience: the removal of shoes or socks to expose barefeet, feet being tickled, bondage, shirtless chests, and most disturbingly, actors being choked with hands or mouth gags. Trailers of the films can be found on Youtube, with many perverted Youtube commenters leaving disturbing comments about the young and sometimes under aged actors. The films are sold online through a common direct-to-customer marketplace. The plots don't make any sense at all. It's all about catering to a bunch of sickos.
To keep up the cover, LP attempts to give his 'studio' some degree of respectability, such as submitting his films to a horror film fest in the pacific north west. The fest is the film festival equivalent of a diploma mill: pay a fee, get an 'award' and a small write up a on a blog.
It's incredible no one has caught him in his perverted B.S, particularly the parents of young and impressionable actors, some as young as 9, who are looking to build up their resume.

All right everyone, just type "underage torture-porn" into google, oh god no no
ReplyDeleteMy first thoughts were Bill Zebub or Jim Wynorski but neither seem to fit.
ReplyDeleteUh, no thanks Brayson. I don't want to get arrested.
ReplyDeleteBC Furtney\ Bull Lee Films?
ReplyDelete*types search into gooogle*
ReplyDelete...aaaand now I'm on a list.
I assume LP represents the name of one of his films.
ReplyDelete"Pacific Northwest" = Child trafficking hub. HUGE!!!
ReplyDeleteTickling? There was that documentary Tickled about that crazy film director/producer who abused and blackmailed young models. The videos started in the 90s and had bondage and tickling.
ReplyDeleteHow about a Crow sequel loosely based on the rumors around the death of Lina Morgana. A female Crow, they haven't tried that yet, and it can't be worse than the reboot they're pushing.
ReplyDeleteDon't use Google, use DuckDuckGo. Better and more accurate results for your search terms and they don't track you.
ReplyDeleteDoesn’t make a difference. Since the result you click on will most likely have ads from the DoubleClick network, Google still knows exactly what you were looking for.
Delete^ very creepy yet useful knowledge i guess. still not diving into the deep depths of internet hell to find the answer to this one lol
ReplyDeleteScreambox
ReplyDeleteOMG: telling each other here how to google the above without being traced may not be a good idea. I strongly recommend not exposing your computer (or your eyes) to that stuff. Maybe we should focus on the name of the producer?
ReplyDeleteShot in the dark guess: Fred Olen Ray - director of such movie masterpieces as Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, The Teenie Weenie Bikini Squad, Bikini Frankenstein, Genie in a String Bikini, and Dirty Blondes from Beyond.
ReplyDeleteI followed Melvin's LP as hint to movie name idea and thought of the Leprechaun series of sequels, but Brian Trenchard-Smith is far too legit to be this guy.
ReplyDeleteHere's a list of direct-to-video horror flicks:

Sounds like Quinton Tarantino's alter ego.
ReplyDeleteCrypticon Seattle for the film fest?
ReplyDeleteWelp since Larry Clark doesn't do slasher flicks, it's not him this time at least, but I bet he watches these shits.
ReplyDeleteI was gonna write what is wrong with fetishes but I had forgotten that it said the actresses were underage lol anyways i have no guess but something tells me that whoever submitted this has some experience with these videos lol
ReplyDeleteDuckDuckGo is a perfectly innocent, and much better, way of searching the regular net. Not a Darkweb tool. I've used it since i first heard of it. It doesn't keep track of what you search for, meaning it isn't collecting personal data about you to sell to FB or online vendors.
ReplyDeleteThe writer never said it was female exploitation so...
ReplyDeleteIt's most likely David DeCoteau. He directed Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-o-Rama and Puppet Master III. He runs Rapid Heart Pictures: http://rapidheart.com/ which is the online fetish thing.
Most of his stuff is either softcore gay stuff (featuring bondage, tickling, etc) or Children's films like "A talking Cat?!?" or "Easter Bunny Puppy" under a psuedonym (Mary Crawford).
DuckDuckGo does not hide your IP address so you ARE trackable; just not like crappy FB that steals private info.
ReplyDeleteRapid Heart has very legit distribution though, which doesn't sound like this guy:
ReplyDeletehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapid_Heart_Pictures
@just sayin'
ReplyDeleteAgreed on legit distribution, but I think the point is the same guy making horror/fetish stuff (which isn't as bad as the prudish blind makes it out to be) is also making kid's movies.
I think this is Scream Entertainment, LLC, owners of Screambox. As far as pinning down individuals goes, that's harder because horror movies attract a lot of sickos. Ditto for identifying film festivals; most of them are pretty bogus.
ReplyDelete@David Ray Carter -- this blind would be prudish if it was just fetish stuff. But it also implies it is underage fetish stuff.
ReplyDeleteTho you bypass google when you use another search engine like DDG, don't forget who owns Chrome (if that's your browser). Also, if it's on your screen, it's in your cache. Bad karma at the very least to look at those sites. Let's not be a launching pad for that? Call me a Pollyanna, but ugh.
ReplyDelete+1 Melvin
ReplyDelete@CJ- not Scream Entertainment or Screambox. They don't produce; they are just a streaming service
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely someone on the level of Fred Olen Ray, David DeCoteau, etc. -- schlock lifers from the golden days of the video store. Its going to be someone who's been around a while, has some familiarity.
ReplyDeleteSummary:
ReplyDeleteNo talent slasher producer/director (shocker right?) uses online studio to pass off child fetish videos as horror films. Occasionally pays off bogus filmfest for awards. The End.
Brayson, you are da best!
ReplyDeleteI thought YouTube filtered out extreme content. I’m not testing this theory.
ReplyDeleteYouTube? Filtering extreme content? @IDon'tKnowHer is kidding, right?
DeleteElsaGate is proof that ot looks the other way
@David Ray Carter,
ReplyDeleteI thought of DeCoteau (aka Richard Chasen) too. The fact that I've heard of him probably means he's more than C-list, but I only know his name because a couple of his films have shown up on RLM's Best of the Worst show about bad movies. He's big on shirtless dudes, but I don't know about the bondage and other stuff. His movies mainly look like an excuse to get several buff young dudes down to their underwear for a weekend.
Thanks plot :)
ReplyDeleteThis screams Victor Salva!
ReplyDeleteDirect to video movie "the Nature of the Beast".
ReplyDeleteSpent all day researching, and, so far, David DeCoteau makes the most sense. Born in Portland, Rapid Heart is based in Vancouver, his barely legal male fetishes are all over his movies. The only things I can't place are the film festival and the fact that DeCoteau traffics in monster movies and occult films, not slashers.
ReplyDeleteDave Decoteau
ReplyDeleteSo, if its this DeCoteau guy, what is the meaning of "LP"? Surely it stands for something. Doesnt seem to be his name or company. Famous movie? Nickname?
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's the other thing. The LP. I am wracking my poor, addled horror loving brain. I know who all these guys are, but I can't seem to make any fit 100%. DeCoteau is just the best fit we got so far.
ReplyDeleteRob Zombie?
ReplyDeleteVan Bebber?
ReplyDeleteTommy Wiseau. Well he looks like that kind a guy.
ReplyDeleteNo idea on any of these players, just vouching that there's been sick child abuse videos on YouTube and they stayed up a long time. It was very weird.
ReplyDeleteDavid DeCoteau doesn't fit though. He makes full length films to sell to Pay Per View and on DVD. They're trashy soft core gay stuff but I've never seen bondage or feet/socks, or underage kinks in any of them.
ReplyDelete@Jason, that's what I'm thinking. He only fits if you assume his shirtless-dude movies are a front for a secret separate line of darker stuff, but that could be true of anyone, and it sounds like these movies are sold pretty openly. He's also not known for slashers.
ReplyDeleteI think it's probably a name most of us wouldn't recognize. Most of the names mentioned here have to be over C-list in their field. Although I guess a reader might not calculate that the way Enty normally does.
I dunno, maybe I'm naive, but I think that if I was sexually attracted to kids I would fucking kill myself.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Donald Farmer is another option. He has made such gems such as Shark Exorcist, Hooker with a Hacksaw and Cannibal Hookers. He does seem to fit into that mold.
ReplyDeleteSome of DeCoteau's movies are slashers like Asian Ghost story. He actually was the director of the film Creepozoids and wrote the screenplay for it. That movie was probably his biggest hit.
ReplyDeleteThen again if you look at Donald Farmer's twitter profile picture, he looks a bit creepy with those large glasses.
