Blind Item #8

After decades of sobriety, this former A list mostly movie actor from just one franchise is back on the booze in a big way and probably needs rehab. The back from the ashes actor has been enjoying his resurgent fame a little too much.

  1. +1. I’m sure Carrie Fisher’s death hasn’t helped.

  2. When you quit while you're young, you look back and think "Maybe I wasn't really an alcoholic. I can probably moderate. I've got this." That line of thinking doesn't usually end well.

  3. Not RDJ, he has recent franchises: The Avengers, Iron Man, & Sherlock.

  5. Hamill looked good at SXSW this week, however Dublin this weekend a different story. Truly hope it’s not him.

  6. Aw, not Mark Hamill (two L's my friends!). He was my childhood crush. He's such a sweet guy. I hope he goes into rehab quickly and recover.

  7. I didn't know he had a substance abuse problem in the first place. Hope it's not him; he seems like a genuinely good person, like someone you wish good thjngs for, if that makes sense.

  8. Mark chain smoker too...

  9. I hope it's not Mark but if so this explains a lot. He doesn't seem like himself.

  10. The back from the ashes bit makes me think maybe Joaquin Phoenix?

    1. Makes sense due to the wordplay, but he's not really attached to a particular franchise.

    2. That’s an amazing deduction. How on earth did you arrive at it? (obscure)

  11. Mark Hamill has worked for YEARS as an accomplished voice actor. There are young people who know him more for his role as the Joker than as Luke Skywalker. I don't think he was ever "in the ashes".

  12. How could anyone guess RDJ who basically heads up multiple franchise and has done so for many years now? Even before that he still acted anyway.. GOTHIKA etc.Luke Skywalker I bet it is. He literally was from the ashes... a LOT of years since he was really big and was doing smaller side stuff, I think animation etc.

  13. what about William Shatner?

    1. No resurgent fame.

    2. @MapsToTheStars: Well if William Shatner ever wants to resurge his fame, he can always make a guest appearance in the new “Hawaii Five-0”, he nailed it last time: https://youtu.be/MtP1z0ALI2Q 🌊

  14. I find him extremely arrogant;don't care for Hamill at all

  15. If Hamill started to drink, it is no wonder. How Disney ruined his Life legacy with that abomination of a Movie and s*at all over him. Kennedy should be fired. Hope it is not him though. Classy guy, I hear.

  16. Don't think Hamil. His fame really never faded to need a resurgence.

He's been busy with voice work, other projects and even a cameo on The Flash.

    1. I don’t thing voice work and a cameo keeps you out of the ashes. If it weren’t for Star Wars, he had had a guest episode on One Day At A Time and spent 40 years doing voice work with one cameo, he would be a nobody.

    2. @ladybug: I disagree. Mark Hamill was up and coming when he landed the Star Wars gig. He actually was under contract to play the eldest son on Eight is Enough, which was conflicting with the upcoming shooting of the Empire Strikes Back. A conveniently timed motorcycle accident got him out of that contract. No one remembers Eight is Enough now, but it was kind of a big deal back then. He might have had a busy TV career if he hadn’t become Luke Skywalker.

  17. Disney destroys everything, but it doesn't sound like Hamill. I'm sure he got a burst of press attention from the new movies, but he didn't really seem to want it, and it doesn't seem likely to cause a "resurgence" in his fame. It's not like anyone who wasn't a fan of his from the original trilogy has suddenly become one now. They brought Luke back to crap on the past, and that was that. Done with him and Leia, on to Han.

  18. This may be way off the mark, but what about Michael Keaton. He seems to be experiencing a big resurgence.

  19. Ben Affleck is who it is

  20. +1 @BelaMac
This could be Brendan Fraser. And there was another recent blind that may have pointed his way.
Unflattering blinds being planted in retaliation for his #metoo moment?

  21. Yoda instigated Luke to villainy in "The Last Jedi"

  22. Brandon Frasier does not look like a person who would be sober for a long period of time. He looks like he was suicidal in some of his interviews in recent years. Fuck his gold digger wife and fuck the executive who assaulted him in the Golden Globes too.

    ReplyDelete
  23. What has Fraser "re-surged in" and the Mummy franchise has been defunct a long time. He has been on TEXAS RISING, THE AFFAIR, now on TRUST, but he worked a lot in years other than maybe in big films. Also I don't see all this suddenly resulting in the fame that he would jump off the wagon for? His big fame was years ago and he is just working steadily (perhaps again.)

  24. Isn't Mark Hamill the one who was in the Kindess blind who dresses up as Luke Skywalker and spent several hours in character with a terminally ill kid? He gets diplomatic immunity from me if that is him.

Also what is wrong with voice work? Money is money. They get the work without the makeup and crazy costumes. Lots of A listers do voice work. Look at the cast for Isle of Dogs.

  25. Mark Hamill doesn't just do voice work. He's considered one of the best voice over artists of all time, and there's a loud fanbase of geeks who say his Joker is number one to Heath Ledger's number two ranked Joker. Hamill's an icon in the geek world and would be without Star Wars, even though that's what got him there. He also did theatre for years, including a legendary turn as Mozart in the play Amadeus. All that said, I don't think he was ever an A list actor for movies.

I hope this isn't him or Brendan Fraser, who seems like a nice guy.

Michael Keaton was A list at one time, and he is known for one franchise - although he was recently in another. So, that doesn't quite fit.

  26. party on dude whoever you are. what the Hell do the "experts" know?

    ReplyDelete
  27. He does look buzzed https://amp.usatoday.com/amp/435113002?__twitter_impression=true

    ReplyDelete
  28. I like the Keaton guess, he starred in "Clean and Sober", went off the radar for a few years but has made a big comeback.

    ReplyDelete
  29. And Keaton had just the one franchise, "Batman".

He was in the last Spiderman movie but I don't think he's contracted to do any of the sequels.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Gary Oldman? Apparently 20 years sober.
Jared Leto? Similar length of time.
    Hugh Jackman? One franchise guy.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Back from the ashes is a clue, maybe someone from the Harry Potter movie Order of the Phoenix who is popular again?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Could be Mel. Literally killed his career and working on the Passion sequel.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Drumstixx of course he is buzzed on St. Patrick's Day IN DUBLIN. WHO wouldn't be?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think @Basilrathbon got it. Back from the ashes = Phoenix. Duh. And he looks like a heavy drinker. He's got that bloated look.

    ReplyDelete
  35. What franchise was Phoenix in? I can't think of any.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Could it be Gary oldham? Resurgence being Oscar? Rob Lowe has been sober 26 years, but is he experiencing a resurgence?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Not sure Skywalker has been totally abstaining from alcohol for the past few years:

  40. 1st time commenter and longtime lurker with a wild guess: OJ Simpson
The 1st episode of People vs. OJ is titled out of the ashes. Franchise is Naked Gun. Sober because he was in prison. New notoriety with the If I Did It special.

  41. Affleck. And ashes comment is a clue from his shitty pheonix tattoo lmao !
