ReplyDeleteThat's what I get for buying my furniture at IKEA.
A door to hell, you mean...
DeleteI'll give it to Plummer for stepping in and saving the film from complete disaster because of that POS Spacey.

ReplyDeleteYou leave IKEA alone Candy! The instructions aren't that difficult lol
ReplyDeleteGive it to Willem already. He's been overlooked so many times in such great roles.
ReplyDeleteI think either Woody or Sam will get it, though.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they'll give it to Plummer, but stranger things have been known to happen. Something tells me they'd like to not have Spacey mentioned in any post-win interviews backstage.
ReplyDeleteI would give it to Sam Rockwell, hands down. The movie was excellent, and his Officer Dixon was superb. Although, Woody had an awesome performance too. I'd like to see Woody win just so he and Matthew could have a hootenanny bongo weed party with their little golden statues in the center of their prayer circle.
Sam. Willem was great though
ReplyDeleteSam Rockwell. Lovely guy, brilliant actor. He deserves this.
ReplyDeleteSam Rockwell
ReplyDeleteSam Rockwell.
ReplyDeleteI love Sam Rockwell, too, but I think Willem Defoe deserves this one.
ReplyDeleteI think Sam Rockwell will take it. But Dafoe was outstanding in The Florida Project, and I hope he wins.
ReplyDeleteI remember the first time I saw Willem in a film. It may have been his first. I remember thinking, "The camera just LOVES this guy! He's got 'it' and is gonna be a real contender in years to come." I was right. Seen many of his films and loved each one of them. Come on, guys and gals, give him the respect he deserves. Sam has a long time ahead of him to win an award.
ReplyDeleteMy hands down favorite Willem performance ever was in "Shadow Of The Vampire." He was hilarious and brilliant and should have gotten the Oscar that year.
ReplyDeleteRockwell.
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen any, won't be watching. But Willem is my favorite actor of the bunch.
ReplyDeleteSo let's see:
Guy in a movie that nobody has seen (Willem)
Guy who won their overdue/ "career achievement" Oscar recently (Plummer, plus nobody's trying to stick it to Spacey anymore, they'd rather forget him)
Guy who plays gay (Jenkins- gosh the Academy is so predictable)
And
2 Guys in the same movie who might cancel each other out- oh just kidding, Harrelson will never get an Oscar and would never be a serious contender, so it will be Rockwell that gets it
The Wilem is due for his Oscar. This is the one he deserves to win with.
ReplyDeleteShadow of the Vampire was great! And I agree about Michael Shannon - he had a great performance and is one of our best character actors. He was on an episode of At Home with Amy Sedaris where he played his stereotypical creepster and he was hilarious!
ReplyDeleteSeen all but Dafoe / Florida Project. Of those I've seen, Sam Rockwell really is amazing in 3 Billboards.
ReplyDelete(BTW, agree with @Temi re: Shannon--he does awesome work.)
Gee Sara how bout you chime in once you've seen something so we can GAF.
ReplyDeleteSara, why do you say that Harrelson would never get an Oscar?
ReplyDeleteSam Rockwell was beyond brilliant in 3 Billboards.
ReplyDeleteSam Rockwell was great and will likely win. I want Willem Dafoe to get it though. It was a wonderful performance.
ReplyDeleteRockwell
ReplyDelete@Squee lol ok
ReplyDelete@Moose
Because I've watched the Oscars every year for the past 30+ years and have noticed the way they do things. The Oscars are nothing if not set in their ways.
I think Woody is great. But he's just not the Academy's type. I don't think there's much he can do to change that.
Sam Rockwell ftw.
ReplyDeleteWoody.
ReplyDeleteSam Rockwell - When an actor gets you to start hating his character for his actions in a movie you know then it's a great job. Then to turn it around and make you like him at the end - award winning.
ReplyDeleteOf those movies I've only seen 3 Billboards, so I can't speak to any other performances.
ReplyDeleteBut I'd contest that Woody Harrelson losing to Sam Rockwell would have nothing to do with whether he's the Academy's type or not. Woody was good but Sam Rockwell's was the breakthrough performance of that movie. He is simply amazing. If Rockwell wins it's well deserved.
Willem is my favourite but these movies don't hit my small town and I'm not a big fan of dramas for entertainment. I like them when I see them but I don't often choose to see them.
ReplyDeleteSam Rockwell - he has acted so many amazing parts/characters and I am surprised he hasn't been nominated before.
ReplyDeleteDena: Does everyone love Amy Sedaris as much as I do? Her brother read a chapter from one of his books last weekend on NPR and I rolled on the floor with hysterics. What a talented family they are! She lives in Greenwich Village (since the Ark) and bakes Cupcakes for a bakery in the neighborhood. She is a total cuteness overload.
ReplyDeleteIn hysterics, not with. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteChristopher Plummer
ReplyDeleteI hate all the nominations disgusted Armie Hammer ignored for CMBYN. It could be prejudice why Armie was ignored.
ReplyDeleteWillem
ReplyDelete@Boo - I love the Sedarises (Sedarii? Sedarices?) they both have such unique senses of humor and are so talented! I will have to trek to Greenwich Village for a cupcake soon.
ReplyDeleteDefoe - great performance in one of best movies of the year - Fla Project.
ReplyDeleteWillem Defoe.
