Blind Item #2

The whole concert sales strategy for this A+ list singer is to make you think she is the most popular singer on the planet when it is basically just a smoke and mirrors trick to have great sales numbers even if the concerts are half full.

    1. Not Taylor, she sells out stadiums still very very fast. Maybe Katy Perry

    2. Last I saw (an article posted today) she still hadn't sold out even one show on her Reputation tour.

    1. Say what you want but she puts on a GREAT show, is a great role model(whether its real or not time will tell) and the girls LOVE her.

  5. What's the strategy? Giving/selling tons of tickets to radio stations? Because one station near me (that doesn't even play her music) is already giving Taylor Swift tickets away. And the show isn't till October.

I know from having won event tickets before, that half the winners don't collect, and that block of seats is half empty.

  6. Tay tay, they priced the tickets too high

  7. I'm hoping the half-full rumors are true, so I can buy tickets 15 minutes before showtime on the cheap and take my kid.

  9. Got to love the strategy of booking a single night and getting everyone to fight for tickets and prices get higher from folks selling them off only to then announce a month later a second date where everyone is left feeling like crap because they could have waited for better seats/prices.

  10. He’s not everyone’s cup of tea but
Kid Rock still fights to keep ticket prices
below the rest and he puts on a
    HELLUVA show

    2. Timely post of the night... I’m missing the Kid Rock concert tomorrow night! Had great tickets. Stupid parenthood, my sweet kiddo is sick. Worst part being missing my brother-in-law opening for Kid! My one shot at celebrity elbow-rubbing. Damnit!

  11. When we first moved to Las Vegas in the mid 90's, my wife worked with a woman who's boyfriend worked at a local radio station.

Every now and then, the woman would get a call, then be placed on hold.

Then, suddenly, the woman would be so excited to have "won" tickets to a concert!

My wife said she'd played it up dramatically.

Afterwards, the woman would hang up, turned to my wife and ask, do you want concert tickets to _______?

If my wife liked the group, she'd say yes; if not, the woman would ask the remaining of the office.

Sad but, that's how it's done in some places!

  12. PLEASE be Taylor Swift. I can't stand her.

  13. It is going to be one of the highest grossing tours of all time. Do you really think she cares whether or not the stadiums are full?

    1. She will when all the photos of half-empty stadiums go viral. And they will.

  14. Taylor's album release revolved around earning "points" by buying merch, sharing videos and pre-ordering the record. The points moved you "up the line" of fans for presale tickets to the tour. The scheme was widely called out as horrifically manipulative, with kids pre-ordering ten copies of the record, jewellery, t-shirts etc all so they could be the first to buy tickets.

Kat's tour is the much more vanilla "buy a ticket and we'll throw in this album that isn't selling free" scheme. Plus the usual VIP stuff. So I would assume Swift. Which would delight me, as she's vile.

  15. Wait.. did someone say Taylor was a ROle Model? A role model for what???? When she 1st started, I still remember hearing her do her Tim Mcgraw song at the CMA's it was cute, it has gone straight downhill from there.
She is a vindictive, jealous mean person who should not be deemed a role model for anyone. UGGG.

    2. Compared to All the other no talent, coke-head Whore Slut-Muppet slags that make up the rest of the female pop music/hip hop whores scene, she's unfortuntely as close to a female role model in music as you get.
She doesn't need 10 writers and 12 producers to make an album. She can actually write and play to a limited degree, much more so than any of those other no talent slags (Gaga is an absolute, overrated joke/FAKE). She can sing (not great for sure) without needing constant layers of enhanced studio vocal prerecord.
Doesn't need her tits, ass and pussy being exposed constantly and not a coke whore jumping on black dick for publicity...
      Name another?

    3. And she's not a Hilary whore....
Ahhh, so That's why she gets all the hate from the liberal, snowflake, brain-dead brigade!
      Now I understand....

  16. Kid Rock lives up the street from me (well, one of his places!). And, he'd joke that whenever he'd finish a concert at Pine Knob (DTE) he'd be home and in his hot tub before we were even outta the parking lot! He lives 'bout a mile from the place! haha
He has fun and makes sure everyone else does too!!

  17. Katy.

Katy's Witness Tour hasn't sold out a single arena. Meanwhile Gaga has sold out many.

  18. Speaking of overpriced, I just got tickets to Elton John at the Garden. My God, my debit card is still bleeding. But it'll be a good birthday gift for Mom, I think.

  19. Jeez, I put up a link explaining it. It's Tay Tay's personal "verified fan program" and the industry "slow-sell strategy."

And yes, Kid Rock for President!

  20. Funny, i got tickets for swift's UK gig and it sold out in a day so she's added extra dates in the UK and US. Seriously doubt the tour won't be a mammoth money maker.

  21. Also voting for TSwift with the whole ticketmaster or wtv the name was where fans had to buy unwanted paraphernalia to get boosts in order to have a chance of scoring good seats. Fans weren't having it this time, which is unusual for those crazy swifters...

  22. Unfortunately, most artists are doing this now and Ticketmaster also packages their sales this way, for the good seats. Elton John and Paul McCartney, for example, sell tickets with various VIP packages. When I went to see McCartney last fall, I only cared about getting a good seat, but to get what I wanted I had to buy one of those Platinum/VIP packages. A few weeks post show, I got this box in the mail that had these shoddy McCartney themed souvenirs. The one nice thing in it was a beach towel, everything else was something I would have thought Paul would be embarrassed to have his name on.

  23. Once upon a time, I was a TV Producer for a Network
and someone from the Sales department
said they had some tickets for Depeche Mode that evening.
    They couldn't give them away.

Loving Depeche Mode, I grabbed the envelope with the tickets.
There were 23 tickets. There was no way I could find 23 people to go.

Anyway, a group of friends and I ended up going and
it was one of the most fun concerts I have ever attended.
    It was a great show.

Curious about how often tickets go unused?
    Probably more often than not.

  24. I used to work in the ad biz...the sheer amount of luxury suites and/or front row tickets that could be got with a single phone call is ridiculous. I have seen some very amazing concerts by simply calling a rep and asking if they had any freebies.

  26. Thank you taylor swift publicist for informing us that Supreme Liar Taysie is a good role model. We just crawled out of a cave and don't have a clue, so that's very helpful. *blink *blink

  27. I actually think this is Swift even though I see how people could think its Katy Perry. also I feel most people know Perry's album bombed and wouldnt be surprised the tour is too. There wasn't one radio hit on that album - brutal.

"make you think she is the most popular singer on the planet"

Nobody thinks Katy Perry is more famous than Swift, so this line cements my Swift guess. After 'End Game' comes to an end, I have No clue what Swift thinks is her next single bc...I've listened to the album and...there's nothing else.

  28. Looking at the wording, it seems the point of the post is that half-empty concerts at least make the record look like it's selling. So considering buying tickets gets you a free Katy Perry album, and the album sunk without trace, I'm saying after some thought that it's her.

Swift is awful, but she's also awfully good at her job.

  29. Pink. Coming out of lurking for my first post. Too bad I’m so late no one will see it! She played Minneapolis last night for SuperBowl week and as of yesterday, lots of tickets still left. Granted, there were a lot of concert options, and could have played a part. But, at least for the locals, she was very low on the priority list for desirable shows.

  30. Gaga. Her monster ball ticket sales were so poor to save money they reused Madonna's MDNA stage for the South America leg of the tour.
