Primaries ain't beanbag. Of course, she'd be better off running as an independent - avoiding the primaries. But then it probably guarantees a loss by Dem and her.
@Adrian Zmed: I'll be very surprised if Oprah runs for President. I think the Democratic Party will sort of get itself organized so as to have its best chance to win the general election in 2020. There is too much risk that Oprah would win the nomination and lose the general. We should not assume that Trump will be the nominee, nor Pence. We don't know. Another problem that the high-ups who control the Dem party would have with Oprah is that she might think that as President she can do whatever she thinks is best. Despite the ideological and/or policy differences between Oprah and Trump, that is what is driving the swamp crazy about Trump. I think it is much more likely that the Democratic Party will run someone very much like Obama, who won't push back against the real powers and will essentially function as a balancer between elite constituencies. We should not be surprised to see them promote Kamala Harris in 2020.

She was one of the first celebrities to come forward about her own abuse, brave as hell to talk about her abuse at a time when sexual abuse was something that nobody talked about. She told people that it wasn't their fault, and they shouldn't be ashamed, and that it was ok to share and own their story. Out of any celebrity, she is the last one that should be hated on, for this topic. It's just crazy to me, how a percentage of the population just has so much hate for woman. It's always the same people complaining about every woman they come across who does well for themselves. I've never liked bullies, because they always seem to share the same weird jealousy issues. enty hasn't confirmed shit about Oprah to my knowledge, and clearly, isn't Harvey Weinstein's babysitter. She fell for his sociopath charms, just like every other person, who sadly trusted him. Predators work their way in. It's their sport of choice, they love the hunt. Hate on them.

Every time I see someone say "self-love" or "you deserve to be happy" or something like that, I cringe. Because for every doormat it empowers, I know there's a narcissist out there who's just going to use those "because I'm worth it" sayings to excuse bad behaviour and act entitled and bully people.
The cycle of abuse is very real.
PS: I have no opinion on Oprah. I'm just commenting on the "self-help/healing" scene in general.

Oprah is about as self aware as a turnip. Nothing in her vast library of self help nonsense has helped her in that regard.
It could be Meryl or Oprah because they both have detracted about what they knew. However, I think its Oprah and I'm going to tell you why. For a billionaire, her $100K pittance of a donation to Times Up after that self aggrandizing speech she made at the Globes was really disappointing. It shows she's not as dedicated as she makes it look.
