Blind Item #13
The actress I consider to the best to ever be a primetime soap actress recently told me a story. She said her very first role many decades ago almost made her quit. It wasn't even really a role. It was more of a stand in thing for the female lead. A body double if you will. Well, it turns out the then 16 year old caught the eye of the then A+ list mostly movie actor who was starring in the lead role. He is still a permanent A lister and all of you know him. He cornered the actress multiple times and kissed her and groped her and a day where she had to wear a dress for a scene tried to do more. Our actress didn't work again for three years.
Joan Collins?
ReplyDeleteShe is pushing 85. It would have to be someone mid 90’s or older. How many still A list actors in that range are around? Kirk Douglas?
ReplyDeleteMorgan Fairchild and Warren Beatty?
ReplyDeleteStephanie Beacham? Linda Gray?
ReplyDeletewhy does it have to be someone in their 90's? I don't see anything indicating when this happened.
ReplyDelete"...many decades ago..."
DeleteIt said when the actress was 16. I assumed the actor had to be older than that because he was A+ at the time of the incident. My comment was only based off the Joan Collins guess. I’m not sure if I specifically replied to that comment though.
DeleteDonna Mills?
ReplyDeleteMelody Thomas Scott. She was in the original "The Beguiled" with Clint Eastwood, in 1971, and her IMDB page says she didn't work again until 1975.
ReplyDeleteIt might be Linda Evans but Alexis Carrington may be the best bitch ever on a night time soap opera. Linda would have been 17 in 1957 but her imdb has nothing listed before 1960.
ReplyDeleteOpps neglected to see it said Primetime, well almost fits!
ReplyDeleteDiahann Carroll?
ReplyDeleteLinda Evans and John Forsythe
ReplyDeleteMany decades ago could be 30, 40 or 50 years ago, which means it could just as easily be someone younger than 80 or 90.
ReplyDeleteSela Ward/Burt Reynolds-The Man Who Loves Women
ReplyDeleteFrom MF's Wikipedia entry: "Fairchild's first acting job was as a double for Faye Dunaway during filming for the film Bonnie and Clyde (1967), particularly in scenes where Bonnie is supposed to be driving a car, because Dunaway couldn’t drive a stick shift."
ReplyDeleteShe was born in 1950, so she would have been about 16.
I really like this answer

ReplyDeleteTrina - I think you're right. Morgan Fairchild. I kind of remember her saying she had a close call or something (I forget how she worded it) early in her acting career too.
ReplyDeleteIf Morgan Fairchild (which does fit), then the lead actor is Warren Beaty
ReplyDeleteAnd Beatty exec produced The Pick-up Artist, with RDJ...
ReplyDelete...
...
Morgan's first credit she was 19 or 20 which fits with not working for 3 years after being 16.
ReplyDeleteHeather Locklear - Knots Landing?
ReplyDeleteMorgan Fairchild FTW. I don't think Enty has EVER written anything about her...except for maybe thinking she was a hottie.
ReplyDelete2nd Heather Locklear

Kudos to the detective work in this comments section today!
ReplyDeleteMorgan Fairchild really fits but what nighttime soap was she on? only thing I can think of is Flamingo Road as Fielding Carlisle's lady. I was young but remember it being FANTASTIC however I never watched Dallas or dynasty which seems to garner all that era's acclaim
ReplyDeleteAhhh, good piggyback, Don!!!
ReplyDeleteMia Farrow who starred in Peyton Place. Her first role, in which she was uncredited, was in a movie called John Paul Jones starring Robert Stack in 1959. Her next IMDB entry is 1963.
ReplyDeleteExcellent job tracking down Morgan Fairchild. As for the Prime Time soapers:
ReplyDelete2 seasons of Falcon Crest
2 seasons of Flamingo Road
1 season of Paper Dolls
Color me SHOCKED that Warren Beatty would force himself on a teenager. Shocked, I tell you.
ReplyDeleteLinda Grey was the leg model for the Graduate

ReplyDeletePamela Sue Martin was the best primetime soap actress. But she doesn't fit.
ReplyDeleteLove her! Guys wanted to do her and girls wanted to be her.
DeleteLinda Grey could certainly fit, depending on if the ages and credits add up. Especially with what we're hearing about Hoffman lately.
ReplyDeleteOh, I guess LG was in her 20s at the time of the Graduate. OK, I'll throw my vote to Fairchild!
ReplyDeleteNew here but reading for some time. I think Linda Evans and John Forsythe. When Linda was a young actress, she was also a sometime actress in his early series, Batchlor
ReplyDeleteFather.
Heather Locklear was very young when she started on Dynasty and was a classic witch in Melrose
