No, I'd rather watch paint dry.

  4. Definitely not last night's.

I started to watch, and then when it became apparent it was going to be a political rally by very earnest yet hypocritical people, I changed the channel. It bad enough to be lectured by a silver-spooned idiot in the White House, much less a Scientologist with a crappy Margaret Atwood series, or a marketing flim-flam artist with no political experience who everyone wants to run for President.

    Oy.

  7. No. Do not watch award shows.

Those who watched the Golden Globes (or any other award show) are no better than the hypocrites who wore black and the times-up pins last night. By watching you are supporting. Not a single argument will convince me otherwise. (watching = supporting advertising dollars = supporting the actors/directors/producers/all who were complicit in the rapists & pedos honored last night).

Anyone who is offended by my comment, should ask themselves, why they are offended.

  8. I have not for years, not the movies or tv awards, not since cable shows and modern family won everything, and movies I had no interest in. Then the politics of the actors and the fact they think that we should ALL listen to them and follow them no matter what.
My husband still watches music awards, music is huge in our lives, but we DVR it so we can fast forward past teenie performers and the speeches. Which usually leaves us about 4-5 performances to watch.

  9. No, because it's boooring. The only time I watched almost whole Academy Awards at night, was in 2009 when Heath Ledger won an Oscar for his Joker role.

  10. Nope there a borefest they put me to sleep they choose to use their acceptance speech as a platform to bitch about whatever they don't like they just can't accept the award and thank the key people

  11. Nope. Won't support them. But I do want to know about Ally Sheedy and Franco!

  12. When awards show became POLITICAL rallies,
    everyone I know stopped watching.
It's been a few years now.
    They are unwatchable.

We used to watch awards shows to escape.
    To be entertained.
Forget about the world and troubles.
It was fun to see the glitz, glamour and fantasy.

    Hollywood has killed the fantasy.
    98% of THEM
have become an official arm of the federal reserve's political system.
If the powers that be were smart,
they would tell all those with a big mouth to SHUT THE F UP.

  13. I used to enjoy them, but they are so boring and self-congratulatory. I usually record them and fast-forward through them later.

Last night's GGs was so OTT. As someone who politically agrees with many of what these celebs (superficially) espouse, I found the whole "feminist" theme ridiculously shallow. I think celebs need to be more thoughtful about using their "platform." It's insulting that they don't think the hoi polloi can recognize their bullshit when they see it.

  14. Nah, i was disappointed by Star Trek Discovery last night instead (though it's still better than a boring award show) and it's a damn shame because up until yesterday's episode the show was doing amazing.

Never. If there is anything considered a highlight of the award show, the news and entertainment shows cover it.
That would be time I can never get back.

  17. Ya know, I never watched awards due to the self serving fiesta and I knew the awards were fixed and political even before becoming a CDAN reader. Now, I most certainly can not watch it. Many people in this world are simple people. good people. Struggling and surviving. Living paycheck to pay check. Dealing with everyday problems, that never go away, then when it seems they are gone, they're faced with worse problems. Real people - good people are hurting...struggling...dying...

    not Hollywood people though...

they murder, rape., abuse others and themselves..then -

    get awards in return...

  18. Only the Oscars and even that not so much anymore. Tired of the politics and sick of the selfimportance. It is, however, really nice to see people reaching the pinnacle of their careers, which is the reason I watch. I also like the In Memoriam, though it pisses me off when they neglect to include someone. I don't care about what anyone is wearing.

  19. No. They are too long and boring.

  20. Some of the big ones, but mostly the red carpet coverage and then it's on in the background while I do other stuff and listen when there's a category I'm interested in. Definitely not in it for the political aspect. Love it when there's a big snafu like last year's best pic debacle during the Oscars.

  21. Nope. I have no free time and really don't care

  22. Not longer ,really. They have lost their meaning, if there was in fact one in the first place...

  23. Yes, I enjoy the Golden Globes. However, I wonder just how long everyone's justified anger is going to last. Not that long, I think. It will be back to business as usual, very soon.
The women were very creative in how they pulled off the black dress code.

  24. Not by choice. It's a bunch of snobby narcissists giving themselves awards while wearing outfits that cost more than my house. If I'm somewhere and can't change the channel, I might pay attention if there's nothing better to do.

  25. No. And I still know more than I want to about any of them, because everything's plastered all over the Internet the next day.

  26. No. I'd rather read tentancle smut on AO3.

  27. No. It’s too pretentious.
