Himmmm Blind Item #1

This permanent A list mostly movie actress who is an Academy Award winner/nominee with a lucrative side gig knows how to control her spin, and use things to her advantage.  She began telling a reporter recently about the "private dates" she had to endure to get those fabulous covers and favorable coverage in this A list magazine. Seems that this now-retired magazine honcho wasn't above trading favors. The actress thought it would endear her to the new magazine editor and support her #MeToo credentials.  But when the actress realized the reporter was still friends with the former editor? She begged to remove those tidbits, sent her several presents, and offered her exclusives on upcoming personal things in her life.

If it’s Goop she called Chris Martin and told him about these rendezvous’ right?

  9. How anyone can stand being around Goop is beyond me! She’s insufferable!

  10. Goop, Graydon, and Radhika Jones, new editor of Vanity Fair.

  11. Speaking as someone who interviewed with Vanity Fair for an internship in the 90s and was a cute female - I would stake my life on this being Graydon Carter. I think it's likely Paltrow.

  12. Paltrow didn't need grayden, she was mirimax golden child. The work was done for her.
    Keep guessing, lazy answer.

  13. I'm not sure how "I willingly traded sex for covers" is supposed to give anyone victim cred, but I'm not in show business.

  14. If himmmm is who we think, he gets a good taste of some GOOP.

  15. No one remembers the 2014 scandal when Graydon Carter squashed a horrible cover piece that had been leaked in advance about the truth about Goop? She'd been voted "Most Hated Celebrity" by the Star magazine for her the goop website phoniness, people threatened to cancel their subcriptions if Vanity Fair cancelled the piece, but for whatever reasons they did and it damaged their credibility.

Sounds like she complained to Radhika Jones that Carter abused her in #metoo ways to get that favor and all of her other covers, but Jones is still close to Carter, so Goop is now bribing her to keep mum about her bitching.

  16. It's great that these illogical magazine covers from the past are finally being explained. Like when you're a kid and you find the light lever by the door inside the refrigerator. It's not magic it's something getting jammed.

  17. While this sounds like Graydon, so many famous editors have retired in the last months, it could be anyone.

Want to have fun? Find a few vintage Vanity Fair magazines (they are on amazon) and look at the stories on the newcomers. Some of these hot-to-nots never got a film made. The only thing that got made was them!

  18. That is a fascinating comment, @Boo. When the HW story first broke, a friend and I were talking about all the IT girls who never really got as far as we thought that would. My friend brought up Mira Sorvino as "whatever happened to her?" and then that story broke a few weeks ago. I've spent time on IMDB just looking at the casts from my favorite movies from the 90s and can see so many women actresses with talent that clearly either didn't play the game or played it too well.

  19. This being about Gweneth Paltrow & Graydon Carter is well within the realm of possibility, but I think it could just as easily be about Angelina Jolie & Esquire's David Granger.

  20. @Thia: Geniuses think alike! Chuckle. Your post made me think about what I just watched on amazon a few minutes ago: The Assassination Of Gianni Versace. If you think about all the women HW damaged over the decades, it is nothing short of a miracle one of these young women or their fathers/brothers/husbands, didn't do the same to Harvey. How did he escape unscathed? Hiding out in a rehab facility so the Feds can't get him. He will never serve one day in jail. You wait. None of them will. Then we'll see how angry some of his victims become.

  21. @just sayin': Thanks for bringing that up.

Totally forgot all about that, but you are correct. I recall a ton of eyerolls over that situation. And yet - as MollyGolly mentioned earlier here, anyone working at VF for the past 2 decades knew it was GC's kingdom and he did ANYTHING he wanted without apology or permission. Going back to the Tina Brown disaster, and even including putting Paris Hilton on the cover of VF (which Julie Andrews publicly blasted GC over, asking him what kind of "favors" Paris did to earn that cover! lol. Gotta love the balls on Mary Poppins).

  22. Thanks Himmmm, Yes! I believe those events were the early marks of the fall of the Conde Nast empire (okay, being rhetorical, they haven't fallen) but their standards sure have. Remember the good old days when Anna Wintour let it be known that Kim Kardashian would appear on the cover of Vogue or be invited to the Met Ball only over her cold, dead body? Sigh. Those were the days.

  25. There's something I don't understand here. If the magazine editor has retired, why cover up the facts? What damage could he possibly do, especially since everyone (or almost everyone) knows what he was like? Who is he going to complain to that someone called him out on his reprehensible behaviour?

  26. On the GOOP hate train too. She's hideous.
