Huh. I haven't heard a single one of those songs. Glad I skipped them this year.
ReplyDeleteIt’s pretty much like that every year. In fact msn.com ran an article last week demonstrating the Grammys have been out of touch since the first year they did it.
Delete24K Magic is so overrated. DAMN should have swept.
ReplyDeleteDamn was overrated too. Too many skippable tracks. I would have given it to run the jewels
DeleteThe Rock categories are once again a joke. WTF is War on Drugs??? Really?

ReplyDeleteNot a big fan of rap music, so I'm pleased that Bruno Mars' 24K Magic won. It's my jam. Addictive - highly recommend to those who enjoy catchy feelgood pop/funk/soul.
ReplyDeleteDid I see Hillsong won an award??? As in THAT Hillsong??
ReplyDeleteThat Bruno Mars cd truly not worthy of the wins. It’s the most insincere, superficial music I’ve heard in a long time. When I listened to it when it came out I was shocked at how outdated it is. I didn’t know they made empty dance jams like that these days. Absolutley horrendous, and insulting music. Isn’t he supposed to be closeted? All the worse for that. The music is like a total overcompensation for something Hes hiding behind those ssunglasses.
ReplyDeleteHappy for Kraftwerk and Mastodon, cool.
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of good music out there...you just need to listen to more than what you currently own to find it. Try a streaming service and you might be surprised.
ReplyDeleteHillsong was founded by a pedophile and his enablers. The only surprise here is that it took so long for Hollywood and Hillsong to hook up. Truly a match made in a pit. I explore a lot of old and cultural music on youtube and it's all so different to anything we get here. Lots of it blows of course but I highly recommend putting the words 'modern' and/or 'American' out of your search criteria.
ReplyDelete@Shawn, I think you misunderstand Bruno's music. He doesn't pretend to be anything other than what he is.
ReplyDeleteFrom Wikipedia: [24K Magic] The follow-up to Mars's successful second album, Unorthodox Jukebox (2012), it explores genres similar to those of its predecessor, such as soul and funk, while Mars and his team focused on capturing the R&B sound that was very popular in the 90's, described by the singer as the reason he fell in love with music in the first place.
At least one of my fave grime artist's fuse OGD got a grammy thanks to Sheeran.
ReplyDeletelmao how many dudes does it take to write an r&b somg
ReplyDelete@Lurky
ReplyDeleteThe War on Drugs is a pretty cool band. Good for them.
I love The National, but "alternative" is such a silly category.
I like quite a few acts here, but I'm guessing they are not televised categories.
Now we're clicking apartment buildings? That's a new one. Ok then.
ReplyDeleteCarrie Fisher won a grammy!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for Alessia Cara. I remember the blind Ent had where Fifth Harmony made fun of the way she dressed. And where is Fifth Harmony now? Oh yeah, one is busy getting coked up and the others aren't around.
Kendrick is overrated. How "Shape of You " slipped through the net of women who strive to be better than their sexuality, is surprising. With all the give #MeToo a Grammy BS, the song shit on every other pop song this year IMO.
