Blind Items Revealed #5

The fights are becoming legendary between this foreign born A- list mostly movie actress who is an Academy Award winner/nominee and her very wealthy foreign born husband. He seems to take great pride in surrounding himself with women in their late teens and early 20's and knows it will cause a huge fight with his wife. Honestly, maybe they enjoy the fighting because they have not split, but at some point she is going to get publicly embarrassed.

Maybe it's a love/hate, love to hate type passion make up sex thing that keeps it going? I've always thought of her as a strong person. After reading how she was fucked over with Frida by Weinstein, I can't see her unwillingly allowing the disrespect in her marriage.
ReplyDeleteShe should leave his ass. She deserves so much better.

ReplyDeleteHe is a billionaire, she is not going anywhere.
ReplyDeleteEhhhh. "He was so mean he made me do a lesbian scene!" About ten years later actresses were lining up and begging to be allowed lesbian scenes because edgy. No one but Harvey would have let her make that movie at all. "Hey, I've got it! Let's make a movie about a modestly talented Mexican painter whose spouse cheats, who worships Stalin and has a mustache!"
ReplyDeleteHas her own behavior been so pure and chaste that she gets a special exemption from marrying Hollywood cupidity? I don't wish her ill, honestly. But it's a dodgy world, and she likes it when the cameras flash.
I gotta agree with you on a point or two...the film was overhyped and underwhelming (like the art itself imho), and she likes eyes to be on her... met her when she was with Ed Norton, and she was very— — well the opposite of him, which is unassuming and mannered....
DeleteShe certainly thought highly of herself, we’ll leave it at that
And a UNIBROW

DeleteOkay so I deleted my comments because I thought they were too harsh. But it doesn't change the way I feel about precious Frida Kahlo (and the kind of pretentious I'm-so-exotic hipsters who worship her, or teh people from my own country those fuckers remind me of). And I still think people who play Chopin in public uninvited/unprompted are show-offs.
Delete@parissucksliterally - you're probably right, but it depends upon the pre-nup. Ellen Barkin made out ok from her Perlman marriage, despite all the legal wrangling.
ReplyDeleteGonna guess that their pre-nup gives her less if she's the one to file for divorce. So he trying to push her to do it.

ReplyDeletePinault has had an appalling sleazy reputation for literally decades right up there with Casablancas, this couldnt be a surprise to his wife. He has bedded more underage girls than shes eaten hot dinners..........
ReplyDeleteTricia, you have quite the gift for understatement. I'm in awe.
ReplyDeleteHaha... 🙏🏻And I exercised some restraint there for sure..... not a bad person, but certainly not what she puts out as to “be perceived” the way she designs. Like so many.
Deletelove your commentary ,btw👍
She knew this when she got with him, she knew he had a baby just a little older than her daughter with Linda. I still LOL when it bc public how much $$$$ Selms's lil girl was going to get from him. Linda who wouldn't name her baby daddy b4, got pissed, publicly named him and took him to court. Although, now karma has come back to Linda and she fat & ugly now, always trying to wear baggy black clothes to cover up.
ReplyDeleteI dislike Salma . I don't find her genuine at all . also it disgusts me when she stumbles over 'english' words. she has been in US 25+ years! why still the heavy accent and shallow play on words? seems so phony to me
ReplyDeleteSame with Vergara.
Delete*1 astute observeration @Lucy:)
ReplyDeleteAgree Tricia. Obviously Lucy does not speak more than one language or resides somewhere where it is frowned upon. Wish i spoke Portuguese, French and Spanish.
Deletewho would frown upon knowing more than one language? I think it a remarkable skill. my issue is she plays like she just landed in USA and I think she has been here more than half her adult years
DeleteRest in Peace Jerry Van Dyke. I don't remember ever seeing him mentioned on here in any bad way. He was so funny and seemed like a genuinely nice person.
ReplyDeletehe's a billionaire.....doubt she has any say. His money allows her to not have to take jobs, and as an older (tho seriously hot, but still older) actress she's lucky thats her setup.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI hope so Boo!! Melanie could make her move easily!
Delete@ Lucy - because it's "charming".
ReplyDeleteHayek fought to land serial cheater Pinault and now she's got him. Lucky Her.
Linda and Salma embarrassed themselves fighting over this man. I always thought it was cringe inducing. He's not even moderately attractive. I guess Linda lucked out by not having to sleep with him again.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of what Salma may or may not get if she leaves and no matter how bad the divorce goes the daughter will get at least $100millon when daddy dies as it's illegal to disinherit children in France and to top it off Linda's son will get the same, as children born out of wedlock have exactly the same rights as children born during a marriage. Linda was after money for herself which he was having none of.
ReplyDeleteThe woman who fought 'over/for' him with another woman who he had just had a child with is shocked because...
ReplyDeleteAs my mother always said 'how you get 'em is how you lose 'em'.
Too bad so sad.
But not really.

ReplyDeleteJust saying, there are a lot of people who have moved to an English speaking country who speak with accents for a long, long time afterward, maybe because they still speak their native language at home, with family, etc. There isn't anything phony about it. She also was never formally trained in English, she learned it from television, so there may be words and pronunciations from time to time that are still new to her..
ReplyDeleteWhile I agree with that.... it certainly did not impede her from cashing in on the stereotypical roles she so “ardently “campaigns against., despite the fact that she owes her career to them.
DeleteMuch like Sophia Vergara and her “ordeal” to be taken as a serious thespian.... perhaps it’s just not in the cards. I mean-does anyone wish to see a revival of Lady Macbeth or — Elecktra-with either of them ?
Keep it real folks
Heard the same about Marion c. Faking broken English when she’s more intermediate fluid. It’s to make yourself look more exotic and yet vulnerable at the same time. Very easily fetished and that’s the purpose. To a lesser extent Bjork spent the mid 90s doing it.
DeleteActually feigning broken English is a pretty Machiavellian thing to do. I can see Lady Macbeth doing taht to charm the pants off a visiting diplomat. SNL should do it. Sofia Vergara always nails it on SNL. 😂😂😂😂
DeleteWell, what was she supposed to do, say no to the roles that WERE being offered to her?
ReplyDeleteI love you Tricia, but let's be fair. We wouldn't want to see Meryl Streep cast as Harriet Tubman, or Viola Davis as Princess Diana.
ReplyDeleteA-Do Tell: no, take the roles , just don’t cute them as an impediment to greater roles when quite simply ,your skill set/acting range can’t carry it.
ReplyDeleteB-Just Sayin’ love you too... Dor the opposite reasons I stated above:You mentioned 2 virtuoso actresses without limitations or boundaries.
And that is based on talent, in my estimation.
Would love to see those casting choices😉👍
Delete*cite them
DeleteHaha, true, I don't think that Sofia Vergara will ever be cast in a great dramatic role, but Salma Hayek can act -- she won the Oscar for Frida. She's a "type", not versatile due to her language issues, but I take her talent seriously.
ReplyDeleteWith Respect ✊, I don’t... but I applaud her hustle. I also shamelessly adore “Fools Rush In”; she was charming for sure 💕
DeleteShe also would be working a lot more I reckon if her “talent “ was in demand... she only has 1 child and 3/5 nannies . She should have learned French ,where she “lives” most of the year... she would be working.
DeleteTricia you sound like a racist idiot and reading your posts give me a headache.
ReplyDeleteBtw Dereck, one isn’t racist because they assume another person within basic intelligence, might learn a language ina country they opted to-live in?
DeleteThat’s simply called — — survival/intelligence skills and sell your racist shit somehere else.
We know you are a desperate, sad soul in Canada, but at least attempt to be less of a douche and represent your country better.
Hi Dereck! Im late to the game, but super happy i got on here tonight
DeleteI was hoping you'd come back to lick Tricia's boots!
I forgot how stupid you were though.
That's a bummer to read thru
nothing I have read implies Tricia is racist and certainly not this thread. lame "attack"
Deleteand I am sure Salma really needs life advice from you.
ReplyDeleteDerek, so sorry I offended your bi-polar value system ,drug use,and institutional cigarette breaks
DeleteInstitutionalized *

DeleteFirst of all--
ReplyDelete@Tricia, you are AWESOME. You seem like a lovely person to meet, like why all the hate lol
I didn't know about Salma's personality until she disrespected Jessica Williams with that whole "who are you if you're not black and if you're not a woman" crap @ the Sundance Women's Luncheon http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/la-et-mn-female-filmmakers-lunch-race-debate-20170128-story.html
She basically Timberlaked her, big side eye for that one
🙏🏻 I had never seen that article.. thanks for the post:)
Deleteand yall notice how @DonnaMarie tries to beat @Tricia at solving blinds LOL the disrespect...
ReplyDeleteOMG, that is Derek Harvey 🤣🤣 OH NO
DeleteWhatever. Billionaire says "I'm gonna cheat," and billionaire wives know to fall in line or stop being billionaire wives. Hayek's no different from anyone else who sells her soul for $$.
ReplyDeleteOh, hey, DonnaMarie is DEREK? Fuck, I so thought we were done with all that. Explains a lot though...@Tricia - Canada rocks! But, you know, we do have our failings too...Bieber, Stephen Harper, Derek...
ReplyDelete😂🤙
DeleteBut I thought that Salma was an heiress?! 🤔. Actually, that's what it has been claimed on Wikipedia, her father is rich and that she went to rich schools while in Mexico.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteSalma family has money but is no where in the Billionaire status, but she has made sure very expensive art pieces cover her family casa. She sold herself when she married that rich creep.Just because her daughter will be well off doesn't mean Salma will profit from it,not all adult children share. She had no problem with doing the lesbian scene when filming & no complaints when she got the Oscar for that movie.Without that scene never would have gotten the award for being edgy at the timeShe used it to add her self to the me too. Many stories of her jumping on the casting couch on her own.Only movie of hers watchable was fools rush in.She like Vergara, very limited range both put on a thicker then normal accent.Anyone in another Country ,even speaking native language at home daily would never have such a thick accent,I bet she does not put it on so thick when she is in France off of a movie set.I am not fond of any of the women or men of Hollywood,I see them all as degenerates Learned as a teen the horrors children and very young girls endured and thought by now that would have changed but realize it never will.Look at Meryl, horrible woman with a very long career and more awards then deserved for an actress who basically plays herself in every movie. As a mother of Daughters ,how could she love the pedo's but she does.Roman Polanski she wanted forgiven, felt he should be allowed in USA! Did she share her daughters, makes me wonder.
ReplyDeleteShe's got money... That doesn't stop her from marrying for money/"love" and this is what you get. #equality
ReplyDeleteWhat Latina stereotypes did Salma Hayek use to advance her career?
ReplyDeleteFrida was overhyped and boring.
ReplyDeleteHayek is overhyped, but I don't mind her.
what I do mind is her hypocrisy; that and she's also starting to annoy me.
I don't want high school drop out, barely literate actors to lecture me about life, when their own lives are filled with drugs booze, pedos and rapists.
You lot, go sing, recite, do a little dance, and then fuck off.
Holey shamoley. I read the article at the link Courtney posted, or as much as I could stomach. One reads it and understands that no matter how many Vanity Fair or Hollywood Reporter covers they pose for, looking severe, none of these gals will ever have serious power. For one thing, they wouldn't know what to do if they had it, because they spend all of their thinking time figuring out how to stab dead the rival actress across the table.
ReplyDeleteWant power? Want to make movies? Figure out how to get 12 people to loan you a million each. That's enough to make some dull moody drama like Frida. Then, hire a director and ride herd on him or her to get it done on time and on budget. Negotiate with a bigger studio for distribution. Get it out there, and make sure the theaters do accurate counts so you get paid. Promote, promote, promote. That's what the Weinstein brothers do. They don't sit around tables at Sundance getting all of their Oppression Bingo cards stamped.
I too, found that article troubling. read very high and mighty and snooty prior to it's cataclysmic descent into colossal cattyness . oh and nice touch with the “what does this speak over mean” Hayek quote LOL
ReplyDeletewhat I found as one of most disturbing aspects was the photos. the overview of table without any of the black ladies then the one photo where they only caption three of the five faces and then the picture where two black ladies sitting next to each other just seemed telling. (like corporate meeting when the only two black folk took up their own table but my biggest beef with that day is they served us sandwiches for lunch. not even good ones and no pickles I was like where are the pickles lol and there wasn't any. cheap! it was on the heels of executive meeting and I am damn sure they didn't toss them a sandwich for lunch. (Frito Lay was a sponsor so at least we got some chips.) served Pepsi products as well so I knew not so long after I was sure to get a pallet dropped in store to sit for weeks. so happy to be done with that scene .) anyhow how condescending for Salma to keep calling that girl “baby”. and I liked how everyone else felt need to bail “we have planes to catch” lol @ brunch of bitches. woe isme without wool in the middle of heated driveway surrounded in babbling brook and fake animals oh and faux llamas 😉

ReplyDeleteEver noticed all the migrants that have spent most of their lives in their new country and still have the accent from their native country, you think they do it because it's "cute" too? As a French, I don't know of any artists from English-speaking countries that speak French sans accent either, no matter how long they lived and worked in France, I'm thinking of Jane Birkin in particular, who's here for half a century approximately and never lost her accent and I've heard some French commenters say the exact same thing about her and thought they were talking out of casual ignorance as well because of course they can't speak any other language either (wouldn't say racism but ignorance begets racism in some circumstances). That said, i was disappointed last year when Salma was promoted her film "The Prophet" last year that she did it in English, even Gwyneth Paltrow made the effort to promote Iron Man 3 in French when in Paris she doesn't even live here most of the time...
ReplyDeleteI think it depends on age too. Between the ages of 4–10, I only spoke English (but understood passively 2 of my parents' native language: a national language and a tribal language). I learned the national language from ZERO when I was in 4th grade and have lived in the native country where taht language was spoken until age 22, and I don't have an English/American accent when I speak that language. 🗽👩🏻🚕🍂💛
DeleteBut when I speak French/Dutch (both I learned at age 19 because the second language taught in schools here is English), I began to speak both in an Asian accent! Very weird. I'm desperate to lose the accent when I speak French. I want to sound really French.
People know I speak English fluently, but I would NEVER feign being unable or not-fluent in my parents' language (now in Asia, it's very trendy to pretend you can't speak the local language—as if you're an expat although you've lived here your ENTIRE LIFE... Or at least mix English words indo their local sentences. What they're trying to achieve is, they want people to think they live in a rarefied environment where everyone is English-speaking or foreign-educated to appear higher-class, I find it DEPLORABLE. It is not only racist, it is downright classist).
He is no different than when she married him, she knew what he was. Somehow it works for them.
ReplyDeleteSalma comes from a very wealthy family, her dad was in the oil business, for crying out loud. She actually lived in America as a teenager when her parents sent her to a catholic boarding school in Louisiana. Only rich latinos would be able to afford a private school in the US.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, some people just don't have the ear (it's a matter of recognizing sounds) to speak a language without an accent, it's a scientific reality - there are studies showing that people with musical backgrounds as kids will speak fluent any language because they can pick up on all the pitches and sounds. I'm a byproduct of two foreign immigrants. I have two cousins who came to America when they were 12 (same age as Mila Kunis - Russian - and Morena Baccarin -Brazilian -who both speak English without an accent) and they still speak English like Salma only with an Eastern European bent.
Sofia Vergara on the other hand can speak English fluently. I can't seem to find a Youtube video now, I'm convinced that it was either taken off Youtube or is flooded by others. In that old commercial, Sofia is her natural blond and speaks in fluent English about a gym membership (she says something like "I'm a mother, I'm a model, etc" perfect English). It's pretty obvious she knows playing the hot latina card would get her far so she does it, and good for her.
I actually don't mind public figures creating 'personas' (such as fake accents) as long as it doesn't cross the racist/classist line.
DeleteIt's a bit hard when you're dealing with living the developing (post-colonial) world, though. Many celebrities in my neck of the woods exploit the colonial hangover (the insecurity/internalised-racism/colourism prévalant in many formerly-colonised developing nations).
Sophia does speak English perfectly well. She only has that affectation because it's what makes her famous and rich.
ReplyDeleteSHE NEVER WON AN OSCAR, I remember because she wouldn't stop saying how she was robbed all year long.
ReplyDelete@lucy Salma wont do anything that doesn't benefit her bottom line. That interview was a flash of what she really is like lol. Her narcissism slipped through when she basically told the other woman to stop talking about her issues and move on, then proceeded to make herself the center of the conversation and talk about her own issues like they were the only ones with value. There is enough struggle to go around Salma , no need to say yours are the worst. But I do think life is easy if your family foots the bills till you're finally able to book work.
ReplyDeleteShe was born rich and knows that she has to play relatable to stay attractive to the public. And her play up of the accent is part of that. She is the type of person to shout about how proud she is to be Mexican (check out her pic with GG winner Guillermo Del Toror) but make sure to pull you aside and quietly let you know that she is only of Spanish/Lebanese descent because in her mind to be part native American indio would be lowly and common.
Convenient timing with outing her Harvey Issues. Got her a seat at the Globes next to Judd front and center. Why not support the women when it looked like Beast Harvey may get away with it? Why only come out with her story after he was already defeated? She's a relic of old Hollywood mentality. I don't' trust anything about her. But dang it I do love Fools Rush in. Which was her best movie... (including Frida) - I do hope someone remakes a Frida biopic and makes it more exciting and explanatory of why she was revered, needs a better script and acting.
LOL. It's true, many celebrities who are "foreign-born" (by enty's standards) to project différents public images in their countries-of-origin and in America/wherever.
DeleteMany local celebrities in the country I live in
create this image of being a way bigger deal than they actually are in the US. For instance: Some diplomat's offspring stationed in NYC could be in a high school production, but come home to Asia and build all this PR around them about them being in a Broadway production. Or remember that "Star Wars" open casting taht was 100% open to the public Harry Potter-style? A local actor could be spending time one of the cities taht Star Wars audition but come home and build PR about it and then the local media makes it out like Martin Fucking Scorsese personally asked him/her to audition. Here's another good one: They live in LA and get a "seat-filler" gig at the Oscars and then make it out like they were an actual invitee. Then they come home to Asia, treated like national heroes, and get MASSIVE endorsement deals for fucking racist whitening creams!
It KILLS me that these people play on the people's insecurities/vulnerable spots (PoC in developing countries are so insecure about their country's position in the world taht they'll go flocking to see any Hollywood film just to see someone from their county—even just as an extra). And they're worshiping these people who've been exploiting the public's ignorance this whole fucking time. WTF. It makes my blood boil. How dare people talk about patriotism/act like they do charity work for "education" and think this kind of behaviour is okay?
*Enty (with a capital E)
DeleteAlso, people need to remember there are 4 M's in Himmmm
Oh, and speaking of being "born rich" and trying to be 'relatable', I fucking hate people to feign trying to be down-to-Earth? It's fake and people can sense that it's fake.
DeleteMy Mother raised me to believe that anything you're born into is a life trial (and there is a lesson to learn from that). Including privilège. Like she believed that being born into privilege was God's way of testing if you'd turn into an asshole or if you made good with what you were given. Her overblown sense of noblesse oblige always nauseated me, but it's taught me to just OWN IT.
You can be your privileged self and still be "humble", you don't need to start talking in a fake lower-class accent (or adopt certain slang words) to make yourself "relatable", just don't brag about what you have non-stop. Be yourself but be reserved about your privilege and keep the topics of discussion relatable.
"Posh-bashing" is ridiculous, people shouldn't be made to feel guilt about where/what they were born into in itself (they got lucky, but they didn't ask for it). But it's okay to criticise someone for taking their opportunities for granted/being entitled assholes to the waiter, etc.
Guillermo Del Toro*
ReplyDeleteI know for a fact that Salma is not impersonating a character like Vergara is. I've done several PR work for Ventanarosa in the past and she does struggle with English, specially when she's under stress. Never met Sofia in person, but that old commercial of her speaking English with barely no noticeable accent to me is proof she is pulling a Charo for money.
ReplyDelete@Scandi Sanskrit & @lucy
ReplyDeleteYea, I'm not bashing that she was born rich just that she feels like shes gotta act like shes the opposite to the public but behind closed doors acts all elitist. Well maybe I'm wrong cause that interview showed a very not-so-relatable Salma to the world. I'm sure she went into that table interview thinking she was the wisest woman and she was going to set these young girls how great i am or shall I say -show these "baby's"- bahahaha, shes a joke. And has a bad attitude. came off as a **** telling another full grown woman that her problems weren't as hard as hers so they don't matter. There is a lot wrong there. Old person not listening to a younger generation. And just overall vain woman not willing to see oh hey here is someone I can wok with to create some projects. Instead, she wanted to squabble like @Gordon Scott mentioned and basically try to end the fellow actress. Which looking at Williams' CV shes done pretty well at developing her own projects; I can see why Salame felt threatened.
After this, I have zero respect for Salma... she's the pits.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/la-et-mn-female-filmmakers-lunch-race-debate-20170128-story.html
You know what's ironic, though?
ReplyDeleteAfter I posted all that stuff above about the behaviour of some local celebrities in my country, now CDAN is blocked by the government (it redirects to the same site taht you get when trying to access porn). I have to use a special connection/VPN now. Looks like someone reported this blog to the Ministry of Misinformation or something.
That's creepy Scandi! Can you share what country did this?
ReplyDelete
