Blind Items Revealed #28

November 6, 2017

Something a little different to start the week than the grisly stuff from last week. I guess I have to say this movie was back in the day. I mean technically it was last century so at this point that is back in the day. It starred someone who is an A+ list mostly movie actor right now. Had a franchise and everything. Foreign born.

This movie was one of his bigger bombs of all time. The thing is though, despite the bad reviews and box office, I bet most of you know the name of the movie. It went on to bigger things down the road. Anyway, the two big producers on the movie had hundreds and hundreds of extras on this set. One thing they wanted was to have a good time making this movie. They built into the budget a party fee. One of the producers most of you know. The other one, you know his movies. Anyway, there only qualification to be hired as an extra was to be an attractive woman and be willing to have sex for free or for money with any member of the cast or crew.

Well, from day one things were out of control. The producers told these women they would make over a thousand bucks a day. The women started hitting on guys right away. With the producers behind the effort and often spending time with four or five women at once multiple times a day, the cast started doing the same thing.

The A+ list actor said there was literally no place you could go on the set where people were not having sex. He said he would come back to his trailer and there would be multiple couples inside having sex. People had sex in corners or in bathrooms. It was out of control. This was not a one day thing. For the entirety of the shoot, this went on. He says he has never seen anything like it before or since. He thinks maybe that is the reason the movie sucked so bad. No one was around to rehearse very much and these scenes involved a lot of that. They would just do the bare minimum and be off having sex with someone new.

  2. Kenny Ortega. Why am I not surprised. Sheesh. Who was running Disney in the 90s that signed off on this budget?

  4. Oh, so it's Kenny Ortega who was a producer of that movie? No wonder then.

  5. eww, looks like Ortega is still working for Disney doing their kid musicals. He did High School Musical.

  6. Newsies: Budget $15 million. Box office $2.8 million.

Who the hell signed off on that mess?

  7. So funny, I was in like 4th grade when this movie came out, and I loved that movie (I still do- the music’s great) and i know a ton of people around my age that have grown up watching it and have a weird affection for it. My daughter is 14 now and she grew up on it as did most of her friends. I will never be able to look at it the same again. Lol

  8. Wow, I remember showing it to my kids when they were little. Never would have expected this out of Disney....but then again, it could explain a lot about what they put out around that time.

  10. Only surprised that the Newsies bacchanalia revolved around girls rather than boys

  11. This is one of my favorite movies of all time, simply because it reminds me of how much I enjoyed it as a kid. Glad to hear the guys were getting some action, but I'm thinking it must have been with men and women. There were just a couple of women-including extras- in the movie. One of which is Hugh Jackman's wife!

  12. My absolute favorite movie ever. Made me fall in love with Christian. So bad it was great!

The cast was largely male though. Only female characters were adult females or extras in the occasional crowd scene. Wonder what the experience was like for Elle Keating. She played Sarah - CB’s love interest.

  13. so basically an all-male orgy?

because there were only one or two women in the movie.....

  14. It doesn't say the "extras" ever showed up on screen.

I'm disappointed; I thought this one would be Batman & Robin. It would have explained why that movie looked so cheap and sloppy, and why everyone except Uma Thurman appeared to be phoning in his role.

Didn't Ortega do High School Musical? Ortega gives me the willies.
Has Enty ever had any gossip about that movie?

  17. Kenny Ortega- he coreographed for the movie Shag the summer of my high school senior year in the town next to mine. I swear literally every single person in my class was an extra in that movie (except me- had zero interest for whatever reason I don't remember). I do remember the 'calls for extras' coming back again and again for more and it's the only time I've ever actually heard of him- when I saw this blind that's the first thing that came to my mind. I remember friends and classmates dropping his name and talking about the craziness of the experience, huh.

  20. I find it hard to believe this one is entirely accurate. There may have been a bit of smut going in a few dingey corners of the set. But everyone getting in on it all day everyday, no way. Wouldn’t there have been too many mi it’s on the set to let something like this go on?

  21. My take on it is that either Bale is greatly exaggerating what really went on and humouring whoever he told this info too, OR greatly underplaying what really went on and finally spilling the beans.

I still think it's bullshit personally.
