Much like the person she was replaced with last year, this permanent A list singer solo and in a group doesn't care about politics behind the check she is getting, only that it is large enough to pay her fee. If her fans think she will say something, they are very wrong.
Beyonce/ gaga / Coachella
ReplyDeleteBeyonce?
ReplyDelete+1 on that
ReplyDeleteI got jumped on the last time I said that I don't believe that Beyoncé or Jay-Z really care about politics except as a means to promote themselves.
ReplyDeleteStill think it's true, though.
Of course it's Beyonce. She doesn't care about anything if it's not making her money.
ReplyDeleteEntry, do you know anything about the Star Trek child actor Jon Paul Steer who died on new year's day? He was 33.
Most A-list singers don't care about the politics behind their checks. LOL.
ReplyDelete@Boldblonde, it's interesting that people seem to recognize JPS from Star Trek rather than from Grace Under Fire. He was only on one ep of Star Trek, but he was on GUF for three seasons. I wonder if it's because ST is more well-known. I just find that odd.
ReplyDeleteI don’t care about politics either. Anyone born before 1980? Can you remembers the days before the 24 hour news cycle. Most of us were carefree happy and friendly to our neighbors and coworkers.
ReplyDeleteNow we’re assholes.
+1 @Normal
ReplyDelete+2 @Normal
ReplyDelete+3 (because I am OCD about sequencing ha ha) @Normal...first time commenting on my new addiction...yeah Normal those were the days...checking in meant a stop at a convenience store or land line at a friend's house (provided we were supposed to be there and not...say...the library :) no more leaning over the back fence for gossip and splinters...though I think the unpleasantness is more or less congenital...it just has a greater glide path of expression these days...Cheers all! Inhibitions are easily lost when a mouse click on an x is at your disposal
ReplyDeleteBeyonce = biggest sellout ever.
ReplyDeleteWe've had BIs here insinuating that Bey is as close to a mindless idiot as you can get, so she wouldn't know much about or care about politics, but she does what she is told she is supposed to do.
ReplyDeleteYou mean back in the day of Communist witch hunts, lynchings, Jim Crow, and all the abuses from the past 80 years that this blog aims to expose? Those were the good old days indeed.
ReplyDeleteIt's fine not to care about politics. Only 30 percent of adults voted in the last presidential election. That had no impact whatsoever!
You can pretend that the world was better and that knowledge of politics made it worse, but at the same world we had before it's just that we are aware of the bullshit. You want to live in Dreamland you go right ahead. You'll probably be happier. But you'll also be a victim. I can't do that.
ReplyDelete@BoldBlonde
ReplyDeleteJP Steuer was in Little Giants, a movie from one of You-Know-Who's companies, Amblin or Dreamworks, can't remember.
*sips tea*
ALSO (and this is what I recognized him from immediately), he was on the TV show Grace Under Fire. He left the show after claiming that he was molested by his TV mom Brett Butler. I didn't see any of that mentioned in the news clips though.
*sips more tea*
didnt brett butler have an alcohol prob that got out of hand on that show? i just remember she was a hot fool mess. havent heard anything since her show went off the air
DeleteBeyonce and cochella. To be fair, every LA hipster that goes there is in the same boat. This isn't glastonbury sunshine.
ReplyDeleteThis article has a lot on the demise of Grace Under Fire, including the allegations against Butler regarding Steuer.
ReplyDeleteA shame he committed suicide, as it seems his parents didn't just leave him to fend for himself, unlike other child actors.

ReplyDelete@Normal, preach!! +3
ReplyDeleteIf that makes me an asshole, so be it. I'd rather be an asshole than sanctimonious.
When you're that rich borders and patriotism don't matter to you. That's for the "little people" as I'm sure Leona Helmsley might quip had she been alive and higher on the food chain. As we've seen this past year alone, the wealthy seem unfazed by such things.
ReplyDeleteAlooooooooot of sanctimony for one place. Whoa. Chill.
ReplyDelete@Aisle Be Bach - +4 lol. I agree with you and I love your sentence 'a glide path of expression.' Never heard that before.
ReplyDeleteThanks @Kimberley those were just the words that entered my addled mind when I was considering what to say lol
ReplyDeletebeyonce & coachella w/the guy that donates to all the conservative bigoted causes
ReplyDelete....what if he donates to an anti-black cause? will beyonce speak up then...?
cause Im pretty sure reading about this guy, he'd rather have beyonce in the fields picking cotton than on stage.
ReplyDelete@Cbermud1
ReplyDeleteI agree with you completely. The personal IS the political, still, and always.
@Normal Yes Indeed
And I read the newspaper religiously BEFORE the 24 hour news cycle. I remember reading about Watergate when I was a kid, and Vietnam, and watching the news every night with fascination about what made people think any of that was right. Also, I used to worry about nuclear war, but slowly relaxed about that as the Cold War died. Now I'm back to wondering if I should be hoarding water and buying a Mad Max motorcycle and gear. It has nothing to do with the 24 hour news cycle, and everything to do with climate change, corporate greed, and a quickly-changing international shift of power and values.
