This now fat A list singer from a permanent A list group that should never have got back together was always a prick. He was a prick before, during and after the group was famous. I remember one time there was a model who asked him for some coke and he said I don't do drugs. He said this literally as he came up from doing a line of coke. So, being a normal human being she pointed it out to him and asked him what it was about. He then punched her in the face. Knocked her out and said again he didn't do drugs.

I have two friends who separately dealt with Rose (one as a lawyer for the band in breakup, other new early manager). Axl apparently every bit the asshole he's portrayed as in blinds. Sad that success comes to such bad people.

ReplyDeleteAxl had a lot of issues back in the day. I don't think that he ever expected to become as successful as he did. I used to like G&R.
ReplyDeleteESTRANGED is, was and always will be my favorite music video. The house, photography, hunky motorcycle cop, thin, handsome Axl, and especially the Dolphins! Like the Christmas song says, "These are some of my favorite things!"
ReplyDeleteThat whole band is a sh*tshow. I went to the GnR concert that wasn't in Philly in the early aughts. They were coming off a high at MSG... I'm sure literally and figuratively. Soooo just never came down to Philly. Being the classy town that it is, Philly rioted and tore up what was the First Union Center (now Wells Fargo Center). Brand new arena..had just opened after many years of the Spectrum being the arena there... and they ripped it to shreds. Railings out and being tossed onto stage... Cops in riot gear escorting patrons out. We had to hide behind a row of seats in a luxury box...someone ran into said box, grabbed the tv... and tossed that, as well. Total disaster.

DeleteI never understood Rose's appeal to begin with. He was ugly AND creepy. Nothing but a jerk from Indiana who let fame go to his fat head.
ReplyDeleteSaw them this summer. He looks a little puffy in the face, but just has more of a dad bod now. Put on a great show and on time as well.

ReplyDelete@Babsbunny - I saw them in the early 90s in Hamilton, Ontario. It was a great show until it ended really early because someone threw a beer bottle at Axl. He stormed off stage and that was it for the show. I didn't blame him at all, but it still sucked, lol.

ReplyDeleteOne of the defining moments of my adolescence was when I realized that Slash was the good guy of Gn'R.
Loved GnR so much. Saw them at their gig opening up for the Stones in the early 90s, the one where Axel and Slash “made up.” They blew the stones out of the water. I’ll never forget how incredible Slash was, the whole band was, despite Axel’s shrill shriek which was thrilling in its own way. But yeah, he’s not a very happy guy, and he never tried to hide it.
