Blind Items Revealed #3

December 20, 2017

This foreign born A- list mostly movie actor casts himself as a highly likable regular guy. Well, one of the few times he stepped out of movies to do television he was such a nightmare that he terrorized the studio and became so difficult that he refused to let anyone—director, showrunner, writers, costars—do any external press. Very abnormal. The studio kowtowed to his needs even though it totally hurt the production which no one ended up watching anyway.

Tom Hardy

  1. I guess that’s why Taboo won’t be returning until 2019. He produces the show so he has a hand in the production. It is a strange show for sure.

  2. I kind of liked it. It was definitely a weird show and he probably struggled getting into character.

  3. This is quite disappointing. I really liked him in The Revenant.

  4. Oh well. I really got into Taboo and look forward to another season. I don't think there's anything I've seen him in that disappointed me, so regard his creative needs as worth the trouble.

  5. Never would have guessed Hardy because I've never known him to present himself as a likeable guy, ever. lol

  11. The reason Tom and his father Chip were so controlling is they wrote Taboo! It is their creation and they wanted to present it as they saw fit. Someone forgot to add that to the equation. I would do the same if my imprint was on it. But, as you all know, I will always defend Master Tom to hell and back.

Yeah, but why shoot themselves in the foot by not doing any external press?

  13. i look forward to the next season of "taboo" too. cool show.

  14. How the heck would you have explained Taboo to the press though. I think the Father and son made the right call in this case.

    1. I know someone who met him fairly recently; they had no real notion who he was, but said he was very pleasant; it wasnt a short interaction either and my friend is a good judge of character.

  16. Hardy is a brilliant actor, maybe the best. Never thought of him as "likeable" and a regular guy tho.

  17. I don't doubt TH can be a terror, especially on Taboo. He comes off as quite prickly even in interviews. Just wanna point out that he's been on the EXCELLENT British/Netflix show Peaky Blinders for three seasons now. Someone dies every 5 min on that show, so if he was *really* wreaking havoc on set I don't imagine he'd still be around. :)

  18. Taboo did great here in the UK and it was fantastic. Very dark and gritty. I still love Tom and always will. Fantastic actor and far more intelligent then people realise. He loves animals too so can't be that bad.....

  19. I still love him! He's such a good actor, he's so good in The Revenant and all the Nolan movies and his pictures with dogs are killing me, but I also don't have impression that he casts himself as highly likable. Looks like he's perfectionist, or very controlling or both, but it doesn't make him a bad guy for me.

  20. Taboo was massive in the UK and I'm sure audiences, like me, can't wait for its return. Hardy is known for getting into his characters deeply, a little like method acting and given that Taboo was his production, his story, his baby I don't doubt it was a strict set. No harm in that, they made some great TV together.

  21. Very disappointed in Taboo. However, he's great in the latest series of Peaky Blinders.

  22. Wouldn't surprise me if Tom Hardy was really uptight about what is essentially his baby. He is shooting himself in the foot though by not allowing external interviews about the show. You need those interviews to help promote the show. Personally LOVED Taboo and I hope to see it return. Can't wait!
