Blind Items Revealed #2

December 21, 2017

I talk about this A list director a lot, but no matter how much I talk about him, there always seems to be more. He was famous for his parties. This one is right up there with the most outlandish. The director and his friends dressed as priests. The teens they invited to the party all were required to wear school uniforms and to look as young as possible. Finally, all the guests were to meet in the parking lot of a local school and a school bus was sent to pick them up.

  1. Outlandish isn't the proper word--sick is a good one though.every priest who did do that deserves everything they got in prison after they got put there.
As far as the teens I would choose humiliation for them having to role play this shit.

  3. I'm glad he has been thrown out of fox, bet that would have been part of the deal with Disney? I hope he gets dragged through the courts!

  4. That photo of Bryan Singer dressed as a priest has been circulating online forever. I think it's from some Halloween party. One of his accusers used it in their lawsuit filing, I believe.

  5. I grew up Irish (Roman) Catholic.
Went to parochial school from 1st through 12th grade.

(Our Mom was dead set on us kids getting 'a good education!')

Anyway, during 9th grade, we were sent to a seminary for a retreat.
There the priests talked about being 'called to God!'

I remember one older priest being asked by another student: "How do you know God wants you to be a priest?"

I will never, ever forget the priest's answer. (I'm sure he's long dead now.)

He said, 'If you are not attracted to girls, God is telling you to be a priest.' (I paraphrase because I'm so old now.)

Anyway, I remember thinking: I like girls!
Oh, thank you God. Thank you for letting me know that I'm not going to be a priest!

Years and years later when the priest molesting boys came to light.
I began to understand why I found priest to be so -- odd!

(Not that there is anything wrong with that!)

I have an old friend who's a Catholic priest-he was speaking out about abuse by clergy way back in the 80s and ended up sent to a tiny parish as a result. He's both straight (though chaste) and a big supporter of gay rights (has done lots of stuff with Dignity, the Catholic gay rights group etc). Anyhow, he has a great story about how for decades he knew there was *something* different about him from most of the priests in his diocese but he never could quite put his finger on it. Then in the early 90s he was a diocesan retreat and saw one of his brother priests bring another one a cup of coffee. By this time, decades of counseling married couples in parishes had made him pretty observant about the small things in folks' behavior. The light bulb finally turned on in his head and he realized the way the one priest brought the other the cup of coffee was exactly like old married couples he'd seen before. Then he went and looked up some addresses in the diocesan directory-sure enough, even though the two priests ministered at different churches they had the exact same address.

According to him, a big part of why the abuse scandal became so big is that so many of the rank and file in the clergy, even when they were otherwise exemplary priests themselves, were in the closet and were terrified of being outed by abusers who knew info about them. In our current day and age, it's hard to think of just being gay as being as damaging as abusing sometimes dozens or even hundreds of children-but both are violations of the RC clergy's canon law and can get you booted out (losing your job and pension etc) just as easily. So the closet really ended up being a big cause of the persistence of the abuse scandal, despite most gay clergy being ok people who were just interested in ministering to their flock. That experience actually made my friend an even bigger supporter of gay rights and allowing priests to be open about their orientation than he was before.

I think we are going to find out there are a lot of similar dynamics at work in Hollywood-there are lots of decent people who have worked with abusers like Spacey and Singer etc and probably knew deep down something was up with them, but were in the closet themselves, using drugs or hiring escorts etc. some dirt widely known in Hollywood circles that made them reluctant to confront the abusers.

  7. Every now and then someone demands Etsy report these people to the authorities. But as others have pointed out, law enforcement knows what is going on and most likely paid off or intimidated to look the other way.

I believe Enty is doing what he can to get the momentum building. A lot of victims are probably afraid for their lives if they speak out.

  8. I'm Irish and I was told how in Ireland a lot of priests (at least the older ones) are gay because years ago they were made by their families to join the clergy. This was because when Ireland was super catholic it was a shame to have a homosexual in the family, and an honour to have a priest in the family. Personally I think that's why a lot of these peado priests are Irish.
